Cooking for one

It's never the same 2nd time round.
I was really looking forward to my 2nd portion of pie ... but it didn't taste the same. I think half the enjoyment of eating something you like is that you didn't eat it for the last meal as well. That "haven't had this for awhile" factor is a big part of how much you'll enjoy something.
Today I had the pie, Smash, a dozen of the frozen Xmas brussels and some Bisto.
It was nice/lovely ... but just not the same as the "hit" of pie goodness tasted yesterday.
Undecided now as to whether to freeze the third 1/3rd.... I think I probably will, but I've time to decide.0 -
I'm not a fan of bacon, I don't buy it - it seems to be shoved into almost every recipe these days.
If I were to wish to do that I'd think "pfft, 35-40 mins!"
I'd nuke the bacon and sausages to the point where they're cooked/safe ... then splash all the other stuff over/on them and stick them in an oven dish to brown for 10-15 minutes.
Could be scoffing it in 20 minutes tops0 -

Well there is thatI could be at Maccy Ds in 10 mins
I love bacon though happy for it to be scattered anywhere0 -
I don't like bacon either. Never have. Like the smell of it cooking though.
I'd rather have a fried egg butty than a bacon butty any day of the week.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
I had pizza on the menu last night. Cut up extra mushrooms, onions and tomatoes and duly added to the top of the pizza. Placed pizza straight onto the shelf in the oven ready to cook when I fancied it.....trouble is, I didn't.....so the uncooked pizza with extra toppings is still there on the shelf in the oven...:o
Now that gives me an idea, morries mooch this morning, picked up a cheese & tom pizza and was toying with adding to it for tonight, mind sort of made up seeing this, but I will cook it
Or perhaps could just be cheese & onion baps if CBA about pizza, packet of baps 50p, but they keep for a while so no rush there
Ref tinned spag. Is it just me or has the tinned stuff changed since I were a lad?
I seem to remember it was packed in so tight a fork was need to get it out of the tin, and it was in long strands to slurp off the toast as mum tutted disapproval
Now it is just bits awash in thin sauce, and I am talking posh stuff here, not Smart PriceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

I think the posh stuff still is like that ... with price tag to match.
I love spag bol on toast and we had it as a meal when I was growing up.... but, since discovering the 20p cans (now 36p) I was willing to forgo the better brand/meal in favour of not over-spending.
Heinz is now £1/can for a big can.
Comparing £1 to 20p it was a no brainer.
I do believe though that even the cheapo cans were better. I've been eating the Mr T ones for about 10 years and I'd had a break from them until recently and I found that the latest version's just like spaghetti/sauce and not how they used to be. Before there wasn't much difference between posh or cheap... now there is -and- the cheap one's nearly doubled in price.0 -
Afternoon everyone
I love bacon especially very crispy streaky bacon though I'm partial to a fried egg as well
I cooked baby plum tomatoes and mushrooms through my scrambled eggs earlier and added a few drops of tabasco to the mix. It made a nice change though I did manage to make a bit of a mess of the microwave nuking the veg
PN - shame you didn't enjoy your pie as much today - I'd definitely freeze the remaining 1/3:)0 -
One of the reasons I stopped eating meat was because there were so many things I didn't like.
Food wise Sundays were my idea of hell. Bacon sandwiches before football, soup for lunch then a roast dinner!! I hated roast dinners..the smell of it cooking _pale__pale__pale_
The smell of a roast lingers and I can tell a mile off if someone has had a roast dinner. Hence why I avoid foody pubs on a Sunday lunchtime..all I can smell on my clothes is roast dinner.
And don't get me started on Meat Stews and Casseroles... which was also regular Sunday night fare in the family home...:(
Oh how I hated them......
It was easier just saying I didn't eat any meat rather than just not eating my dinner and going hungry.:o ...
I was more than happy with my plate of veg and potatoes....And NO I don't want gravy on that'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

Well the veggies in the house would be pleased...I have a bit of a "thing"about sausages and even the best ones can fail the texture test ...oddly enough I am only really happy with Richmonds which I know are not exactly good sausages
Anyway the mash onions and bbq sauce was lovely but couldnt stomach the sausages ...bin for those sadly
Would do that recipe again though this time with Richmond0
