Evening all, I have a real notion for fishfingers tonight and of course I don't have any (and no one to send to the shop):( I've added some to my shop for tomorrow so with all the chat yesterday about sausages I think that might be the second choice :D Swithering between cumberland or venision I'll see which ones I can put my hand on first- definitely want mash and gravy so will use up the LO onion and do something or freeze the LO sweet potato tomorrow. It's freezing and blowing a gale so a night for a comforting dinner. Not sure about veg probably mushrooms and broad beans. I still have a mushroom mountain after last week's generous sub in my order so will need to get some of them stashed in the freezer:)

Lol sorry to have planted the fishfinger thought caronc and yes they were gorgeous :) but you are very welcome to those sausages :rotfl:

I'd already decided not to eat the final bit of pie today ...

I had 2 slices of bread I'd defrosted two days ago .... and so I ended up toasting those and opening a can of spag bol, which I topped with a poached egg.

Later, at tea-time, I opened the fridge and the half can of spag bol was in there - but I didn't fancy defrosting 2 more slices of bread (they're better left to defrost and not nuke-forced as that dries them out) ... but I opened the freezer and there were the oven chips.

So, it was oven chips topped with the 2nd half of the spag bol ... and a sprinkling of cheddar on top.

    :)

I've no idea how people manage to get 5 a day in ... unless veggies are ALL they eat. I usually fit 5 carbs in OK though :)

Today food bill for the day 50p :)

I try to not think of it as 5 (or 7) a day but around 400g of F&V as long as I vary what I'm having over the course of a week it usually balances itself out. From what I've seen from your photos when you do cook veg you have loads and your spag bol would count as two I think :)

My waistline is rapidly expanding..my work trousers were almost impossible to do up and very uncomfortable :o....

...so with this in mind, I defrosted some white fish fillets, lightly dusted them in flour, salt, pepper and paprika and fried them in a splash of olive oil. Served up with broccoli, cabbage and green beans from the freezer and the obligatory dollop of ketchup.

It was very tasty and healthy..trouble is I was still hungry despite the huge portions...so have just eaten a large toasted ciabatta roll drowned in butter :o...

Oh dear, don't think I'm very good at trying to lose a few pounds lark

LOL ... well, there's always tomorrow - and diets aren't supposed to start until tomorrow.

I've been steadily losing weight over the last 9 months or so ... I'm either under-eating by a few calories/day or will shortly discover I've got a terminal illness previously undiagnosed. It's one or the other ... could be either.

As I am not "enjoying" food recently I've chosen to not scoff for England as I'm bound to start putting it on again at some point ...

I weigh myself just 4x a year - next one's later this week.

Nope not easy and harder in the winter I think when carbs beckon more (for me anyway), I lost four stone a few years back and apart from 7lbs have kept it off. I was told initially I wasn't eating regularly or generally enough (I was having a" big" meal a day and a couple of bits of fruit or lots coffee) and my body was going into "famine mode" so stashing fat since I changed to 2-3 meals a day I've found it easier to maintain my weight:)

    Morning everyone
I've got up with the notion of "chopping things":D so think a potter in the kitchen is needed and time to chop and freeze the excess of mushrooms and peppers currently lurking in the fridge. I've a pack of flavoured cous cous in cupboard so might stuff one of the peppers with that and have one half tonight with either baked cod or a pork chop and either freeze or keep the other for later in the week. I'm missing not having done a plan for this week and surprised at how quickly I've fallen back in to the "it's just me so it doesn't matter" rut and ending up bunging something in the oven later in the day. I know planning doesn't work for everyone but I think it's good for me, I also ended spending loads more on my top up shop than I needed to so back to basics this weekend as I need the discipline both financially and nutritionally :)

Wow 4 stone thats amazing :T

I have a good stone I could do with saying goodbye to at the moment but I am in no mad rush ...its a while before I need to show my bits off :rotfl:

So todays plan is pulled pork from the freezer in homemade flat breads, hoisin and homemade slaw. Need to go shopping first though and it is dependant on the availability of carrots and cabbage for the slaw but worst case Ill buy a tub...cant have pulled pork without slaw :D Never made flat breads before so this will be a first and will probably mean more freezer stock but I love flatbreads so they wont be in there long :)

Anyone else make their own flatbreads? They look easy enough but we shall see :D
