Whew - that was a lot of time and effort tied-up with officialdom.

Do I recall aright that you are living in Cyprus or the like? In which case - then I guess officialdom can be even more onerous than it is at its worst in this country?

I am in Cyprus, and you are so right re being much worse than the UK. What should have been fairly simple and straightforward, ha ha ha. No such thing. Someone once asked if there was a word here, such as the Spanish use of manyana......absolutely nothing as urgent, was the reply. Unfortunately, it's so true.
Love the people, love the country, but hate having anything to do with government offices, total nightmare.

I really, really, really, really, really, really .... fancied beans on toast.

The other week when L1dl had bakers on offer I specifically didn't buy them as I thought it was summer and I'd regret buying baking spuds.... but I've been craving them.

Beans on toast & spuds/beans .... have been on my mind for days, so I just popped out and bought a loaf of bread, 2Kg or so of spuds and four cans of beans :)

Tea tonight was: toast, cheese, beans. nom nom nom.

I've decided that when I get cravings for foods like you did today, it's best to have whatever it is I fancy because until I do it doesn't go away. I was like this today.

Bet you feel better for having what you fancied though ;)

    Good evening everyone,
I'm late on parade as today was mainly spent spent at the specialist balance centre being tipped about - think fun fair but much less fun. Consequently I'm terribly unsteady tonight so CFO will be fish, oven chips and green beans I think. I've nice new meds to start from Monday which apparently will make things worse at first...... and a not wholly unexpected additional diagnosis to add to the Meniere's:(.

Snail snot ---- PN what a thought _pale_. I have had snails though, they were like whelks but in garlic butter. They were ok but I wouldn't ever choose them on a menu - they were part of a "French food" night a bunch of young people I was mentoring put together. Also on the menu was Andouillette https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andouillette , these were totally gross, to me they smelt like poo and no way was a bit going in my mouth _pale_

Re pans MTMS I think I've missed why you are wanting coated pans (BTW I thought you were going to confess to more than £50 for the Wok)? My day to day pots are stainless steel. They are Prestige make and over 15 years old, had lots of use for all sorts of things and look virtually like new so I'd recommend:) but of course they don't seem to make the ones I have anymore.:(

Food so far to today has been a quick grab of toast for breakfast and a cheese and tomato sarnie for lunch so will be lacking on the F&V front today;)

I was in Asda yesterday and they had bags of baby potatoes, with yellow stickers on for 22p. I didn't need them but,........ i've just done the whole bag in the SC, so they can go in the freezer now.

Caronc....you poor thing. Underwent that balance thing years ago, and it wasn't nice at all, so must be even worse when you're a bit older, especially with the Meniere's. Hope that you feel a bit better today.

PN Awful when you really fancy something and don't have it in, but glad that you managed to satisfy your wants.

So glad that I made up fruit salad yesterday morning. Good bowlful scoffed with a dollop of yoghurt, and a teaspoon of mandarin curd for a bit of sweetness. It was lush and all I really wanted to eat last night. Got enough to last me today. Don't think that I will have a problem going through it at all just now, whereas in the winter, would probably get sick of it and end up in the bin.

Terrible night's sleep, am sure it was to do with being so tired after yesterday. Have sleep issues at the best of times, but can't understand why I sleep so badly when I am clearly shattered! Really should be doing housework now when it's cooler, just isn't going to happen this morning.

I hope these balance problems resolve and aren't going to be a lifetime thing. Fingers crossed.

The ceramic-coated pans bit is because I want my saucepans stainless steel - but frypans/woks to also have ceramic coating. Reason being that I want them non-stick. I am more than a little suspicious of other types of non-stick coating - not a good idea from the health pov I gather (all sorts of nasty chemicals - which wear off bit by bit and we end up eating minute particles of it with the food we cook in them).

Hence the ceramic coating - rather than other non-stick coating (such as T*flon).

Re the cost thing of the wok - what people consider cheap, okay, dear, OMG is going to vary according to their perspective and income. To me - £50 for a wok is okay per se (though I'd rather have spent around the £20 mark). I'm working from a basis of regarding myself as a "mid-price range" person (ie the way I put it is "Not Primark or Harrods - make it John Lewis"). Being someone that wants John Lewis level stuff does mean that, as a single person, I'm often having to wait before I have the money to cover the cost of something though unfortunately on my income....and meanwhile doing without it (I've done without that wok for literally years in fact - rather than get a cheaper one for instance).

Funny old week for me as picked up a bug and have spent most of my time in bed. Not eaten much and when I did its been out of a can, smartprice rice pudding and custard. Eaten out of the can as well so no washing up. For drinks have raided DGS fizzy pop stash.

I find the worst thing about being being a single is if youre ill theres no one to put the kettle on and make you a cuppa.

    There's worse....!!

There's nobody to make a decision to call an ambulance, to open the door and let them in; there's nobody to spot you're unconscious on the floor ...

One thing I struggle with is the issue of "is this important/serious" - I've never been in Hospital, never had an ambulance called - so how do you (for yourself) make the decision "this is really serious, call an ambulance" - it's an easy decision for you to make for somebody else, or somebody else to make for you .... but to be laying there "feeling unwell" .... how do you know if/when is the right time to ever call one.

When I think back to the times I have made that decision for others, it's been because they have lost consciousness and/or are incoherent (e.g. slipping into a diabetic coma and at the stage where they present as very drunk).

I'd lay there and think "I might feel better in 10 minutes".

I decided to freeze the last two slices of the pie in the end. I didn't fancy the same thing four days running :(.

For breakfast I had scrabmbled eggs on toast and grated in some cheddar that had gone decidedly hard. It tasted ok though, so at least I didn't waste it :j

Lunch has been back to the tinned tuna mountain for a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich. This means that there is now an opened tin of sweetcorn. I may have that with dinner tomorrow.

Dinner will be a chicken breast that I have got in a lemon and garlic marinade I made up this morning, with some new potatoes and veg.

Snacks have been an English muffin and there is one of those two finger KitKats for a mid afternoon snack.

If I want a pudding I will have another slice of cake from the freezer cake stock, with some cream or ice cream or custard, I'll see which one I fancy if I have the cake :D
