Cooking for one

Aha - have finally found the wok I actually want. Had another google on Amazon this morning and there were a few ceramic woks with aluminium base. But - there was one with ceramic lining and stainless steel base. So - I ordered it:)
Is now trying not to think about just how much the price was on it:eek:. Ahem.....
Did get a bit of luck with buying 2 items frequently figuring in a lot of recent recipes this morning whilst a bit "further afield" - finally managed to get freekeh and panko breadcrumbs:).0 -
I decided to go to T*sco in the end this morning, and their y/s section offered up a minced steak and onion pie so I bought that to satisfy my bought pie craving.
Breakfast I was back on the Greek yoghurt and berries.
Lunch has been my main meal today, and I had a slice of the minced steak and onion pie (it's ok, I would buy it again at the reduced price), with veg and new potatoes.
If I want a meal later it will be a prawn sandwich with some salad (I found a bag of frozen prawns right at the bottom of the chest freezer).
I bought some apricots and flat peaches in T*sco so I am eating them today as snacks after yesterday's overeating episode
So, I now have three left over portions of pie, and I need to decide whether I want to eat it again tomorrow and freeze two portions, or freeze the lot. I still don't have much room in the freezer though. I will have to think about this one.0 -

I'm glad you bagged a pie at a good price
I just whipped up a quick cheeky portion of dream topping
I had "planned" a sort of lemony cheesecake in my head... but as I've no biscuits for the base it ended up as just the creamy topping
As you do.
I've decided to make my own individual desserts from now on - as that will give me more choice than the shops offer ... and bigger portions for fewer pennies I hope.
Once I've bought biscuits, for the base.... you can expect a gazillion cheesecake-style desserts to enter my life on a regular basis.0 -

Yes I always keep digestive biscuits in purely for this purpose, it does give you a lot of options for making something like that.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
It's wet and misrable here today which suits me fine as I seem to have caught the cold from my sister so I'm feeling a bit under par. I'm hoping rest & fluids will catch it as I'm back to see the balance specialist tomorrow in Paisley.:(
There is a greengrocers in town but unfortunately they don't deliver or else I would use them. I buy a savoy cabbage every so often and it keeps really well so I don't struggle particularly to get through it. White or red is another matter, I only get these if I'm making coleslaw for a crowd as they seem to go off before I can use them up. I'm not keen on frozen cabbage.
My wok is a cast iron fro IKEA it is at least 15 years old and was really cheap. It took a wee while to get it seasoned but it's fab now. They don't seem to sell it anymore which is a shame.
Breafast was the usual and lunch was a piece of baguette with salad and seafood sticks. Tonight I'm having the steak I din't have yesterday probably with mushrooms and green beans.:)0 -

Slightly different to dream topping, but not too far removed. That discussion on Angel Delight the other day and my wish for the raspberry one that they have discontinued.
In T*sco today I was looking at them, and they do a raspberry one in their own brand, so I bought that to try. I would try some now but I forgot milk and I have only got enough for my tea and coffee until I go out in the morning.0 -
Moneyistooshorttomention, I didn't know that about the egg substitute of the beans no, only for chickpeas. It's good to know though so thank you for that.
Some talk about my OH cooking for one here. He did himself ham potato and pasta salad last night. Loads of it too, by my reckoning should do three days the way he eats and that's after him eating a portion last night. He nabbed half the potatoes I'd cooked in the rice cooker, however he did the pasta etc himself. If I hadn't done the potatoes for myself he would have done them himself he said .
He had toast and muffins today for breakfast.
He is a carb monster if you haven't worked out out.
Breakfast - buckwheat pancakes.
Lunch - potato salad.
Dinner - ratatouille and lentil rice (mix of green lentils and brown rice made in the rice cooker)
Snacks - fruit.
Drinks - coffee, tea and water.
I bought a while watermelon yesterday. A bit of room has been made in the freezer and I will freeze some of it, maybe half.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Bit of a mixed day so far
I had intended to bung washing out, but rain was forecast by midday. Wrong, still no rain and I could've got the washing out. Oh well, dry indoors, at least it won't smell of cabbage, or chips even 'cos this morning Lidl had run out of the ones I use. Think I will survive though
Nil breakfast, two biscuits instead during volunteer coffee break
Lunch, back to the cheese salady sarnie, just for a change with wholemeal bread. Putt the 1/4 of white loaf leftover into the fridge ready for my summer pudding sometime this week
Due to weather change the LO flan / quiche is on hold, and tonight is one of the Lidl offer baking spuds, I deliberately got some larger ones to use a s the main part of the meal
I think tin of beans, maybe some cheese in there somewhere heaped into the baked spud and use up last of the coleslaw. Sounds nice at the momentEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

I've been looking, when I remember, for such a product again, but whenever I've looked, in many supermarkets, I've never actually found it.... I'm sure it's out there, I'm either forgetting to look in the shops that stock it, or not noticing it (man looking style).
It was nice that Mr T used to sell it in a bottle that looked like a milk bottle, it was easy to grab and pour it out.0 -

That was great as it kept for ages and I could make up just what I needed/when - and I used it to make the few loaves of bread I made in the breadmaker I bought/tried (and then didn't like, so got rid of).

I still have an identical half used one in the cupboard, like you it was breadmaking ingredient. Will have to check in case it is now caked & mouldyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
