Sounds like a plan and maybe rice salad with the extra portion .... (or could you not cook a bit less rice so it doesn't become endless? :))

    Oo good idea also.
As I use the rice cooker 2 cups (smallish cup that comes with the cooker, not a normal cup) dry is the smallest amount you can make. It does me 3-4 portions normally.

....I don't want my indoor temperature up over 24C at most if I can help it:cool:
The sun's disappeared here, I've had appropriate curtains/blinds closed all day and appropriate windows open. This room loses all direct sunlight by noon - and part of the house loses ALL sun after 4pm. I spent the entire afternoon with a wet tea towel on my head. My patio door has been wide open for a couple of hours (single door as opening two is just too much faff).

My indoor temperature has only JUST gone down to 24C :)

.... promptly texted to say had gone off to do something else:mad:

I sent a text explaining why I'd thought we were still going out and got a very nasty one back despite the fact that mine was (i thought!!) a very polite explanation. So sitting here alone as didn't want to go to cinema on my own with nothing nice left to eat and feeling very tearful - like its my fault:(

Sometimes I feel like crawling under a big rock..

I thought that was just me - I sometimes get "dropped at the last minute". It's annoying as I've usually planned my food/what I eat and what I buy for 4-5 days before I think I'm going out to eat, so I don't waste food, or over-buy it.

    I must attract self-centred flakey people :)

Even if I said 4 months ago that I'd be round at 6pm on Thursday, you can set your clock by it and there'll be a knock on the door at 6pm prompt even if nothing's been said since the initial discussion/agreement. Plans, to me, are plans.

Yep, that officially makes me jealous of you PasturesNew. It's gone up by 0.1C so now 28.6C. I don't know how but it seems to just get hotter here this time of evening.
About to start my 6th bottle of water; hydration is soo important right now.

I micro steam mine... I usually make 2 portions as the other food going on the plate is usually more portions than one, but I sometimes just make one.

Ah I see one of the reasons my rice cooker is in the cupboard now I'm CFO;)

Not wanting to brag but it's 19C here which is still pretty warm for round here:). The midgies are out in force though as it very muggy:(

When I went out it was to discuss a glass roofed/glass fronted, wide, entrance porch/mini conservatory .... and as I sat there, dying in the heat, I said "I know it sounds mad right now ... but, let's face it, it's only like this 3-4 days a year - and the rest of the year it's a bit windy, a bit damp, a bit drizzley" :)

Poppystar, I'm sorry that your friend has done this to you. I do agree with caronc that she has gone into attack is the best form of defense mode, but it doesn't help you.

To me keeping to arrangements is so important, I would hate to think that I had let someone down.

I hope that you can find something nice to eat and that you feel better soon.

    ((Hugs))

Thanks for all the hugs and words of comfort - they made such a big difference. :)

I didn't go to cinema on my own but that was partly because I was still in a tizzy when I would have had to leave and partly because it's a small cinema and I'm not sure how many, if any, others would be going tonight especially given the weather. It's not unknown for us to have the cinema to ourselves when I've been with other friends before and the thing I simply could not have faced tonight after the day I've had is to be the only person there sitting alone in the middle of rows of empty seats!!

Sadly, even a thorough scour of cupboards failed to find the smallest piece of choccie :(

Like you all, I do think an arrangement is an arrangement and would not let someone down even if I was not feeling like going on the day - assuming I was still vertical and able to move I'd be there;)

I sometimes just despair of finding people with the same values - it seems particularly hard where I live now. I still have friends in places I have lived before and when we meet it is just like it's only yesterday since I last saw them.

I do sometimes think that people are less thoughtful nowadays or is it just so much harder to meet like minded people as you get on?

At least I have you all to chat too :):) Thank you!

Having failed on the food front I think it will be a G&T - I shall try it with cucumber as someone here suggested :)

A G&T sounds like a good treat to me- whack enough cucumber and lemon/lime in it and it is almost a health drink LOL ;)
