Happy Bank Holiday, eh!
Much the same here. I couldn't get back to sleep because it is so muggy and I was too hot, so it's been a restless night without much sleep for me as well0 -
Morning all,
I have decided to use up the last of my chicken for lunch because I just couldn't face the same thing for the third day today and really don't want to put anything else in the freezers.
Dinner will be the salmon steak that I have just got out to defrost with either some steamed veg or salad. The salad bits need using up, but I am a bit fed up of salad now. I'll see later today.
I had got a piece of cheesecake out of the freezer yesterday for dinner but didn't fancy that so had ice cream instead so today the cheesecake will be pud, or a snack during the day
I will have breakfast in a minute but I can't decide between the usual yoghurt and berries or scrambled egg on toast.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
I am always looking out in shops for new/interesting things, or slightly different things, so I don't just grab what I always get.
Although my diet's limited in range, my eye forever hovers ... and yesterday I spotted Honey Nut Cornflakes. I've not had those for about 8 years! 85p for a 500 gram box.... sounds like a winner. So in the basket they went. Brain was thinking "when you get really idle, you could open that box".
This morning I opened that box. I checked the box to discover how large a portion is (answer for all cereals is about 1/3rd of what the adverts show you). 40 grams.
I found the perfect sized little pie bowl (not a breakfast bowl at all) ... got the scales and weighed it out.
That was breakfast.
I don't add milk to cereal, I eat it dry... except weetabix when I have to buy milk in especially.
It's raining again now....0 -
I managed to get 8 different items of the 10/day onto one plate.... cheating a bit though as some could count as "the same" - and none of them were even close to the 80grams/item to also try to match.
The quiche contained white onion, green chillies, red chillies. I made a salad that included beetroot, red onion, peas. On the side was a coleslaw (so cabbage) and I sliced a tomato in there too
That's all the quiche eaten.... but I've made a 600 gram spud salad and only eaten about 200 grams of it. Also still got 4 huge tomatoes in the pack.0 -
Had a VeganEgg scramble for brunch - didn't get up 'til 12.30 as had a really long day and late night (early morning) after visiting relatives.
I stood looking at my plate for ages trying to decide whether to have red or brown sauce... brain was still fuzzy so went with one slice with red and one with brown.
After munching both I still can't decide which sauce I prefer on a scramble - I'm well into my 50s so you'd have thought I'd have at least worked that out by now.
I think I've reverted to my teenage self today - after spending all of yesterday with my aunt and uncle who treated me the same as they did when I was a lass... it feels like I need to remind myself I'm a fully grown adult :rotfl:.
Tonight I will have whatever my hand reaches first when I grope in the freezer... a bit of a lucky dip.:hello:0 -

Freezer lucky dips are the best when you either can't decide what to have or don't know what you fancy, it solves the problem of making a decision. See it's this making decisions over food choices again0 -

It arrived here about 3 am and woke me up, did not get up to look but it sounded awful. Then dull and now peeing down. I feel sorry for those on BH break having used time & money to go somewhere special and then this happens. Could be in the dry & sleeping on the floor in Heathrow terminal 5 I suppose
Caronc nice to see your tom efforts, looks like you use similar pots to me, but I do not have as many toms as you.
Yesterday's pub lunch unravelled, went to different pub and had standard, made in a factory, nuked chain pub stuff, I had roast pork Sunday lunch. Not inspiring but I was with my family so made up for it. In reality I suspect I could have got better / similar from Iceland & nuked it at home
Just looked it up, could have done just that for £1.50 http://groceries.iceland.co.uk/iceland-beef-with-yorkshire-pudding-roast-dinner-450g/p/50701
On the Iceland subject, has anyone got one of their Bonus cards? I see it advertised and just wondered if it is of any use? I do not require home delivery or saving for Christmas sort of card, so apart from that is worth while?
Not been out today, murky and wet, and things to sort out on computer. Thus breakfast was the very last of the cold pizza, I have at last graduated into the exclusive CFO cold pizza for breakfast club
Lunch was a cheese salad sarnie
Dinner will be the other M & S beef pie, with the rest of the rosemary spuds, and steamed remaining two rescued not gone sludgy carrots with near past it parsnips and last of the broccoli. Very much a clear out Monday
Possibly some cold L/O apple pie & L /O cold tinned custard for pud
Sounds exciting, just the job on a damp grey day, I expect if I was photographed eating it it could be used a s a begging photo for some charity, or a poor cold OAP poster for a political party
I was going to [STRIKE]hack at[/STRIKE] prune a tree, but weather has stopped that bit of fun
Time for coffee and prep the veggiesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
So far today I've had my usual coffee, however I didn't feel like just having fruit after. So I had buckwheat pancakes with banana and date nectar.
50g sprouted buckwheat flour
125g soya yogurt
35g sultanas
1/2 tsp baking powder
A little garam masala, not sure how much used.
Water to help thin it.
Cooked with spray oil.
Really hit the spot. Used the soya yogurt as it needed using, could just use plant milk or even just water only.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -

Good afternoon,
Wet and miserable here today so a good excuse for a bit of a duvet day. I'm tired as I have flared up tendonitus in my wrist/arm with too much plant potting so had a bit of a rough night. I seem to manage to do this every year at the beginning of the gardening season potting up or at the end sieving tomatoes for passatta and I always forget between times how painful it is. I've got it well gelled and strapped to it's feeling a bit more like it now.
Breakfast was toast and hard boiled egg and lunch a hummous, rocket, tomato and cucumber sandwich with a chicken noodle cupasoup. I've decided that tonight I need comfort food so sausage and mash it is. I've some mash in the freezer so no peeling or chopping to contend with. I've another head of broccoli so will have a load of that and loads of gravy granules in the cupboard so will just make some of these up.:)
I'm hoping both the weather and my wrist have improved tomorrow and I can get my mojo back;)0
