I had a cheeky chocolate spread on toast.... trouble was, I slid two bits of bread into the toaster then thought "I should only do one of those" ... but toasted both anyway :)

That jar's nearly empty now.... need another; that's 4sda's though, where I rarely am.

4ldi do one, but I can't remember the pot size, I'm sure it's 400g and £1.29 ... whereas the 4sda one is 400g and 80p. But if the 4ldi one is 600grams then I'm prepared to try it.

*sighs*.... life's so much more time consuming when you're a peasant.

......, I'm also well into my 50s and can't work out whether I prefer mayo or red sauce on my chips :D

Ooh, now mayo is lovely for dipping them but red is lovely to smother them..... hmm..... mayo..... red....... no, wait....... :p

Being an adult gives tough choices sometimes :D.

It's an easy dilemma for me I don't like red sauce;) so HP for me on bacon etc. but of course when it comes to chips is it mayo, salad cream or garlic sauce think I'll still be swithering that one in my dottage:)

I once had a bottle of brown that called itself Spicy Brown .... and I liked it. Can't remember the brand, but it'll have been a cheapish one.

Since then I've tried many bottles that say Spicy Brown and they aren't spicy at all.

I think a bit of a tang to a brown can go down a treat on sausages or breakfasts or chips .... or anything really.

I'd like to find a cheapish spicy brown one day that's actually spicy/tangy and nice.

Currently using 4ldi bog standard brown sauce - my first bottle of it. It's nice enough to keep buying. My previous bottle was HP, that probably wasn't even as good as the 4ldi bog standard brown to be honest, so I won't rush to grab HP again.

I've tried loads of "brown" sauce and keep coming back to HP probably one of only three or so "branded" items I stick to (Hellman's mayo and Kenco decaff coffee being a must). "Daddies Sauce" is next best IMHO :) followed by "Gold Star" - that is the one used by most chippies round here.

I used to like the brown fruity sauce which is hard to come by now - but then when I did find it the taste had changed. No doubt to make it healthier... very disappointed. Especially as I'd been salivating all the way home thinking about a sausage sarnie smothered in it.

So... my freezer lucky dip ended with some potato things - can't remember what they're called but they're sort of pastry wrapped around mashed potato and chillies - had that, sliced peppers, celery sticks and carrot with some guacamole dip.

Followed up with the remains of an Easter egg that I'd forgotten about. I'd broken it up into pieces and put it in a Lock n Lock box then it got lost in the snack cupboard. What a find :D.
    :hello:
  • :rotfl:at the thought of having a snack cupboard. My food shelves would look like "poor pickings" to most re having a snack.

The choice boils down to fresh fruit:T, toast, dried fruit or cheese and I've currently put all the cheese in the freezer (ie so I can't casually pick at it). Thinks - thought has just struck me that I should probably try cutting the basic type cheese (ie Cheddar and the like) into, say, 2" wide chunks and then I can just take out a bit in advance to defrost if I require it for a specific recipe. So I've got what I want available - but none "ready to eat" for picking at (calories!). Or I wonder if, on the other hand, I should grate it and store in freezer - or whether it would all just go into one huge lump and I'd have to defrost the lot to get at what I want?

Not sure what I can do to stop myself picking at dried fruit though...
