Good afternoon everyone,
I managed not to have breakfast as on the phone to my sister for yonks and then my Dad popped by for a coffee so an early lunch of LO salad from yesterday and a couple crackers with hummous was had just before noon.
I've 1/2 a baked sweet potato left from last night which I think I'll freeze as I don't fancy it with the piece of steak I've defrosted for tonight.
Just off to have a wrestle with a clean duvet cover and then I hope to get the last of the tom plants potted on before the weather breaks.0 -
Afternoon everyone,
I am getting bored with the food that I have in that doesn't need either too much effort in this heat to prepare it or need me to buy additional ingredients that I'm not going to use.
For breakfast I had scrambled eggs on toast again.
Lunch has been yet another tuna mayo sandwich.
Dinner will be chicken, salad and new potatoes.
I've got some ice cream so I will have some of that for pudding.
Some biscuits have also been consumed with tea this morning and this afternoon.
Tomorrow will be the last of the chicken, which will mean that I will at least have a change on Tuesday.
At least I have recently discovered soughdough bread so that is something a bit different and because of all the crumpet discussions on here I have started eating them again after not having had them for years.:) I am going to have to start scrutinising supermarket shelves for new ideas, and new things to try.0 -
Finally got my greenhouse fully loaded
Apologies for the rubbish photo - the other side has cucumbers but I'm having problems getting that one to load. Hopefully in a few months I'll have lots of tomatoes:)0 -

I find that using different flavourings with chicken really help make it different. I'm enjoying atm periperi or jerk spicing and baking a sweet potato or making sweet potato wedges helps the meal feel a bit different from "chicken again" doldrums...:)
Rump steak, jersey royals, mushrooms, asparagus and probably a quick wine/peppercorn sauce with it for me tonight. Will get it organised once I've watered the garden - I'll be as quick as I can with that as the midges are out in force.......:eek:0 -
I ended up in the freezer drawer, pulling out the brussels and cauliflower - and discovered a small wrap of about a tablespoon of red onion, great for that spud salad tomorrow!
Served those with instant mash, stuffing and 3 tiny Yorkies + gravy.
Starting to see real emptying of the freezer now, two empty bags into the bin (the brussels and the cauli).
Looks like I'll actually manage to defrost it in June sometime at this rate!0 -
PasturesNew, 're choccy bars.
One of the multitude of slimming clubs I have attended over the years suggested that if we couldn't resist chocolates and suchlike, we should keep them in the freezer. Great idea. I broke a tooth on a Mars.
My youngest son once bought himself a pack of 5 Milky Ways. He ate 2 and gave me the rest to look after so that his elder brother couldn't get his hands on them.
During the day I managed to eat the three that were left. Then of course I had to buy a whole new pack for him.
And eat 2 out of it to cover up my guilt.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Overnight a wild lightning storm woke me up then kept me awake.
This morning the weather's grey, cool, unpromising.
Happy Bank Holiday, eh!0 -

Glad you found some onion for your potato salad. At least you can have something you fancy without having to go and buy more onions that you don't need.0 -

That's good. I think it will be next June before either of mine are empty enough0
