Good morning everyone,
My lovingly picked chard was inedible - so, so bitter that it wasn't at all palatable, the remaining plants will be getting composted:mad:
The Burgen Soya & Linseed loaf is the one I usuall get, in fact just scoffed some toasted. Not only does it taste great but it is relatively low in salt for a commercial loaf so a win, win for me. Although more expensive than others I reckon that loaf every week or so won't bankrupt me

.... Aldi ... Walked down ...5p ....35p..
I'm unfamiliar with A1di, having not lived close to one before, so still "discovering" how it all works. I've noticed they have "30% off" stickers - and I thought that was it, but after Easter I spotted 1-2 "50% off", so I thought that must be because they'd overstocked for Easter and now wanted rid of it.... but I had no idea they had reductions down to pennies at all! And/or maybe it's because I always rush past any "fresh" foods to head straight for pies and curries
Re Burgen loaf .... I just head straight for the 36p loaves in the supermarkets.... and I am not even aware of other/pricier breads.... so I've never had "good bread". I just eat "bread ...."0 -
I never ever see reductions on food in my ALDI, but I probably go at the wrong time. My fave bread is Morrisons sunflower n pumpkin loaf, it's to die for"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Back in the days when I used to eat bread, Burgen soya and linseed one was the only one I liked and back then I could only ever see it at around £1.25-50 per loaf but a couple of slices of that filled you up quite a bit and I would freeze it as well. Last week on holiday with my friend she forgot and bought ordinary bread and to me it tasted revolting, but as she had gone to the trouble of making the sarnies for a picnic lunch I didn't have the heart to tell her and sat and dutifully ate it .Felt quite bloated afterwards and I'm glad I am home and back to my crackers and cheese once more 35p for a loaf was an excellent bargain though0

Sorry PN I have confused you, I meant when I saw your post that Aldi was still open I checked if Asda was, the nearest Aldi to me is a 45 min bus ride but Asda is only a few mins walkSlimming World at target0 -

Agreed a tasty loaf, as is the Burgen one. Both are not on my shopping list unless YS, but I do like them. Current best for me is the Lidl sliced wholemeal or same Asda,a round 40 - 50 p most times. I hate the YS ight cotton wool stuff that pops up and I buy because I have never tried it before I buy it and regret it
Yesterday's party was as expected, mainly pizza, crisps & fizzy lemonade, but that is a 7 year old's party for you. They only remembered the cake & candles after we had left, posted on FB so I saw it if never tasted it at least
No breakfast again, double biscuits to compensate
Lunch time I opened the pack of Asda bacon that has been sitting in the fridge and getting closer to use by date, so bacon & brown sauce buttie for lunch
The Lidl mooch was uninspiring, but spotted pack of YS Hunter's chicken, never had that but have seen it in lots of shops. The pack serves two, but I think one tonight with freshly steamed veg and the other portion tomorrow with ?
Looks fairly unmucked around with but the pour over cook in sauce may not be to my taste, have wait & see. never know perhaps it will be a regualr addition my Lidl YS basket, like beef chilliGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -

Ah ... so you're the one responsible for me just going up/down the A1di bread aisle 3x looking for this mythical "Burgen" ... that wasn't thereI was determined to see it (then walk away, of course), so I knew what it was.
I walked out having bought nothing - I hate doing that as I wonder if the security are nudging each other and going "shoplifter? Look, bought nothing ... spent AGES in here ...."
I wish I were close to an A5da, it's a 15 mile round trip, so rarely done - and when I'm in there it's rarely planned, or planned for "Xmas food", so I'm not in a position to get what I'd have got if I'd planned it and was there with a list of "things I'd buy at A5da if I planned to go".0 -
