I ended up having a bit of toast with some chocolate spread .... and then later on I had the corned beef bake with spuds. I was in a hurry to just "eat and get it over with", so nuked the lot and scoffed it with just a fork from the dish I'd reheated them in
As you do.0 -
It was going to be chips & beans with the other half today, but then found muggins here had forgotten to use the boiled new spuds I did for yesterday's dinner, found them in the pan whilst putting stuff in dishwasher
Thus dinner today is cold LO Hunter chicken, LO cold spuds, ponced up as spud salad with blob of mayo, plus YS mixed salad leaves from Asda morning mooch, thus healthy chicken salad, probably full of veg & vitamins
Bit too blowy & chilly for any gardening
I like the way that you have turned a negative into a positive by taking the healthy chicken salad view
It has been really cold here today as well and I'm really feeling it. I am hoping that the forecast for this area is right and it will start to warm up from tomorrow.0 -
Breakfast today was some porridge with some blueberries. I had a mid morning snack of an almond croissant that I got ys in Waitrose this morning I also got some mini hot cross buns reduced by 50% as well, but there wasn't any meat/fish/ready meals or veg ys that I wanted.
Lunch was a cheese, salad and pickle sandwich and a pear. Dinner will be my lightly dusted cod with some Jersey Royals and steamed veg. I was going to have chips and peas with it for a change but the bag of JRs don't seem to be going down that rapidly.
I have another pear which is very ripe so may eat that with some evaporated milk for afters, or a bit later in the evening if I am too full up after the fish.
I seem to be using things up again today.
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
Hello all, hope everyone's had a good day.
My microwave has broken!Didn't realise how much I rely on it TBH. The good news is, my mum has a spare. I'll have to wait till after my trip to collect it though. I've had to rethink my meal plan, as I'd made loads of HM ready meals but most of them need microwaving to cook!
Nevermind, I've got plenty of food in, I'll just need to be a bit creative.
Today I had a toasted gluten free sandwich thin (RTC, 29p per pack) with spread and pastrami for breakfast.
Popped out to collect a parcel and treated myself to a coffee in sunshine. It's been windy but warm and sunny here all day. Had strawberries when I get home and some yogurt.
Beef, bamboo shoot, carrot, mushroom and mange tout stir fry from the freezer, with rice noodles this evening. I remembered to defrost it yesterday
Stopped in M&S while I was out, no clothes on sale so I didn't buy anything! I did pick up some RTC meatballs, burgers and veg though. No amazing reductions but I fancied a burger and they looked nice.0 -
Good evening everyone,
Lovely picture Meg your cup is beautiful. I was going to say "wee cup" but thought I better not ..... LO;)
Today has been a write off - horrible vertigo during the night so I've been wiped out:mad:. No CFO so far unless opening a tin of soup counts! Tonight it will be something I can bung in the oven and leave to it.:)0 -

Sorry to hear about your microwave, it is handy that your mum has got a spare one
My last one broke last summer and I know that I hadn't realised up until then how much use it actually got. I was lost for the four days that I was without one0 -
I decided I couldn't run the risk of running out of essential beans, so off I plodded. Stocked up now, 8 cans in the cupboard. I then swung past A1di and they had a pie (£2.99) with a 30% off sticker ... not sure if I'll like it though, but decided to live dangerously.
It's Scottish steak, cracked black pepper and claret pie. Now ... I don't know one steak from another, so it's all just steak to me. Cracked pepper doesn't sound pleasant... that bit's a bit scarey - and I've never tasted claret, so no idea if this will be good or bad.
It'll be sliced into four pieces - one eaten, three in the freezer, but the date on it says by 5th, so I've time.... if it IS nice I might even eat two pieces and freeze just two .... that's the freezer I am STILL trying to empty dammit!!
I also bought eggs - I'd intended to give eggs a break for 4-5 days so they weren't sitting there to be used up.
Came home and didn't eat any of those things - made a sandwich with salad cream, cheddar and the final 3 manky looking cherry tomatoes I bought a couple of weeks ago.0 -
If my microwave broke it would have to be replaced within 24-48 hours, depending on how I felt, the weather and what food needed using up. I could just eat toast and cheese triangles for a couple of days if I had to...
I'd just have to google microwave ovens and find the cheapest one (supermarket probably, probably A5da) ... and then get down there to get one. Job done.
This current one's 4½ years old, so plenty of life in it yet I hope.... years.0 -

Good morning everyone,
I've been up since silly o'clock probably because I slept so much yesterday!
Breakfast was toast and pate and lunch will be a use up of some salady bits. I think tonight will be the remaining portion of chicken casserole from the freezer with jersey royal spuds and green beans.0
