Dull & wet here as well, but for once I have decided on what to have for dinner

Breakfast was nil due to a scheduled visit to hygienist, first time I have been to one, the dentist always used to scrape & polish, maybe to posh to polish now?

All the talk of salad fired me up, and lo, on the Asda amble there was a YS bag of mixed crunchy salad for 50p, cheaper than a lettuce, and a bit of variety in there, I spotted grated carrot and some red stuff as well as the Iceberg bits

Having grabbed that it was cheese and mixed salad sandwich for lunch, due to rain the thought of scouring the garden for young dandelion leaves had lost it's appeal:o

So tonight I will be having a change from usual stuff and going for a buttered baked spud [bought 4 when on offer in Lidl a week or so back], with frozen salmon fillet, which I will bake in tin foil in same oven as the spud, with the YS salad, tom & cuc on the side, and maybe mayo or 'cos I'm a bit plebby, salad cream ;)

Veg count must be massive and now feeling very virtuous after days of not really healthy or balanced meals

Nowt plebby about salad cream Farway;)

I've taken a turkey steak out of the freezer though haven't quite decided what to do with it. I've various veggies lurking so may well just[STRIKE] bung[/STRIKE] arrange cheffily and pop in the oven with some herbs and oil :)

I have been busy freezing small portions of fish, cut from a fresh fillet, then I vac packed individually and they will last a decent time in the freezer, just the right size to make easy meals in the rice cooker with quinoa/rice/veg

Had a nice quick meal just now, one slice of biona sprouted rye bread, from freezer. Lightly toasted, some sliced goats cheese and half a tomato on top plus a mug of miso soup. Yummy, was tasty and satisfied the mouth cravings. Now having a small glass of 3 year matured elderberry wine

You`ll have gathered by now that I am a wholefooder, been one for forty years but am no saint and often have cake, chocolate and other nice things

Caronc - I've never tried putting an egg on a SM pizza, I've been worried that it wouldn't cook properly in ten minutes in the oven. Next time I have both eggs and spinach pizza in I'll give it a go.

Faraway - do you bake the salmon from frozen? I always defrost first, and anything that cuts down on faff is welcome!

Kittie - how do you make the miso soup? I started looking at recipes for it last night but confused myself.

Sorry, there's lots of questions there.

Today's been a tired/achey day. Breakfast was the free avocado and a banana, I nibbled cherries, then tea was an odd combination of Pukka steak and kidney pie and roast pepper, aubergine and courgette.

I've gone back to MyFitnessPal, hopefully I can stick to it and be honest. It's always interesting to see how many calories there are in things, but it's also a boost to see how few calories are in things like veg which are easy to fill up on. It's a few years since I last used it and I've lost a stone and a half, which was good to see.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

instant packet tonight ames, but it is easy to make. Just mix some miso into any soup you make, after you have finished cooking, to keep the goodness in. Has a nice satisfying taste. The packet tonight has sea vegetables in it

I am so warm now, after the red wine, must have been potent

    Evening all

Kittie my vac packer is one of my favourite pieces of kitchen kit! Interestingly I use it more now as a solo cook than I did before as I still like to buy big packs of meat/fish as it is often more economical. (I hae sous vide machine as well but that's a bit more cheffy than my usual CFO LOL):D

Ames definitely try an egg on your next pizza it should cook fine;)

Still not decided what to do with my turkey steak, I'll rootle round the fridge and see what veg could do with being used up and take it from there:)

caronc, I gave my sous vide away after my husband died, when I decided to do a marie kondo in my house :) I don`t miss it but I would never give my vac machine away, nor my very large countertop ice cream maker :D. I actually portioned a fillet of cod, the same weight of haddock and 8 fillets of mackerel. Got about 23 solo small portions

I am going to make a very rich tasty, real cream, vanilla ice cream next week and already have the organic products on order, As it will be rich, I will only want a small scoop for that nice topping on berries. With the ice cream, I will layer berries, hm apple puree, toasted almond slivers and then top with a little ice cream. It will taste like a real pudding.

I did a `mock` ice thing today and was nice, in my small personal blender, frozen blackcurrants, blueberries and raspberries, squirt of agave, kefir and yoghurt. It was satisfying, I ate it with a spoon and I no longer craved anything sweet.

    Evening oneskis :)

Healthy dinner tonight, sauteed up onion, garlic in olive oil, added asparagus, spinach and mushrooms then added cooked wholemeal spaghetti with a splash more olive oil...it's a large portion but healthy never the less methinks.

ETA: forgot the grated mature cheddar on the top...;)

Evening oneskis   Missed you all loads

Enjoying watching masterchef and thought about everybody on here ...I want to wander round their market place with a basket :) Must be hard to think on the spot what they want to cook though and their dishes really are impressive (not a beans on toast in sight :D )

Been really busy with work and also doing some cooking for more than one with friends visits and mothers day.

Need to have a reassess of my freezer as I have chucking more in than taking out seemingly lately and that was not the plan at the beginning of the year. Problem is when I have visitors I buy more stuff and of course create far too much stuff (thats just what I do) then have loads to go back into the freezer. This weekend was a beautiful leg of lamb which was just fall apart gorgeous but of course was enough to feed about 8. Lamb for sandwiches for a while now ...its the classic cooking for one problem i guess.

Karcher how is your neighbour problem matey? Hope you are getting some peace at the moment:)

Need to have a good read through to catch up on all the oneskers gossip :D
