All this talk of salad..guess what I'm having with a huge chunk of baguette and mature cheddar....Yep a mixed salad: tomatoes, cucumber, rocket, lettuce and mushrooms (weighs 260g just for the record :p) plus a tablespoon of mayo :D I may finish off my crisps too

    ..so that's 3/10 and had a pear earlier +1 = 4/10...better than nowt :D

Where's our Nelski these days? Hope all is well if you are lurking :)

    I "cooked" this evening :D

My creation was a ramekin of quinoa (dry volume), made up and mixed with a steamed julienned courgette and a tub of YS salsa that had been hanging around in the fridge. Delicious and will last me another 2 days at least. So technically, dinner for 3 ;)

    Afternoon everyone,

I've always thought about buying the thins shan't now will stick to wholemeal pitta bread which I really like.

I tend to find most SM pizzas disappointing (except the Tesco Spinach & Ricotta one which I find really tasty) and always need a bit of jazzing up:(

Ames - good result on the avocado, I seldom but them as they seem to either stay like bullets or turn to mush in a blink

Farway - don't know if they only sell it in Scotland but from tomorrow Mackays Ginger preserve is on offer at £1 (as is the rest of their range of jam & marmalade) and their stuff is pretty decent:D

I'm another that was distinctly underwhelmed by sandwich thins.

I like the spinach and ricotta pizza too. A local restaurant, which delivers, does one with an egg in the middle, which is gorgeous.

I know what you mean about avocado, I've got three that I bought a fortnight ago that are still rock hard. I like ones that are a bit soft, and can tolerate ones that are just verging on slimy.

I've definitely got the hang of stir fry! I'm going to stick to Waitrose ones I think, the Asda ones were a bit cheaper but they were bulked out by white cabbage which I'm not a fan of. I also might have a look at what other bottles of tasty ingredients they have, to get a bit of variety.

If you don't like cabbage in stir fry, but don't mind it as cabbage with mash and gravy as sides .... then you could go with the cheap option and pick out the white cabbage.

I never eat cabbage - love it - just never get round to it because I couldn't ever fancy eating (or freezing!) a whole one :)

I think one of the 'problems' with buying cabbages is that they're often not sold by weight, but one price .... so, naturally, your eyes go to the biggest one (value for money) and that's enough for 6-12 portions .... and you feel cheated if you pick the smallest :)

Years ago, I'd often enjoy a meal that was JUST boiled cabbage and mashed potatoes - with a splash of ketchup if I didn't fancy gravy with that :)

No, I just don't like cabbage full stop. I like spring greens and I love spinach, but not white cabbage.

Stick them in a bag with a banana to ripen.

Random left over bits of meat done vaguely Chinese style with some summer veg mix, served with plain rice. Tin of chicken soup and the crusts of the loaf for lunch.

    Evening everyone

PN- cabbage yes it can be the gift that keeps on giving thankfully I love it so can usually use one up
VfM4meplse - welcome to the thread. your meal sounds tasty but tbh unless I'd had rather a lot to eat earlier I think I would have eaten most of it never mind get three meals out of it:eek:

    - do like an egg cracked on a pizza and tends to be one of my additions on a SM one. Tony Macaroni's in Glasgow do prilliant pizza my favourite is parma ham, mushrooms, globe artichoke and egg. Shame it's too far away for a takeaway:(
Karcher - baguette, cheese and salad what's not to like :D

I really enjoyed my dinner tonight very tasty pork & herb bangers, mushrooms, bubble & squeak and tinned plum tomatoes with lots of pepper and a splosh of Lea&Perrins :D I have tomatoes left so think tomorrow will feature toms on toast not had this in ages and a wee rasher or 2 of streaky bacon might sneak in as well;)

    Afternoon everyone

It's dull and wet and the temperature seems to have dropped since earlier:(. Toast and plum tomatoes for lunch in a bit but I'm lacking inspiration for what to have for dinner, too much choice I suppose, so will need to have a rake and see what appeals:)
