Still not decided what's for dinner, have eaten most of a bag of jelly beans though. That's eating for one if not cooking.

I have just had rice krispies for my supper

When those with others/families say singles can "eat what you like!" ... I really think they don't mean Lobster ... but rice crispies - for some maybe even eating that last of a box by sploshing some slightly out of date milk directly into the wax-coated wrapping paper ... big spoon required.

    :)

    Lol
Not to divert the thread but I was only owner occupier to show up everyone else owns to rent and yes I agree the communal areas need work but not to that high of a spec and they don't seem to understand not all of us have that kind of money!
Mini rant over... Off to the kitchen for junk food....

    I feel your pain :(

It may be late but I'm actually contemplating having my longed for chip butty now...Who knows what may happen tomorrow and I'm hungry now

This is why I wouldn't wish to live like that. Others deciding/bullying you into having gentrification forced upon you.

You're paying, but you can't choose what for every time.

If I choose to paint my front door, I could do it using a tin of paint somebody had left over .... and it might look better than the original. If a management company choose to paint it's 4 coats of Farrow & Ball, done by a firm whose Directors drive Bentleys.... and a bill to match.

We'd all like nice things ... and timely maintenance... but that comes at a cost and those with more money will always push for "the best".

    *sigh*.

    I feel your anger/pain/disappointment.
  • This isn't the management company pushing high spec. The lady who owns one to rent out is an interior designer.... She wants the ceiling tiles modernised as she can't get a different ceiling and the whole place looking like one of those modern buildings but that's never going to happen.
All the flats get to choose from select quotes but it's majority rules.... I just hope the sinking fund can cover most of it!
Think I need to buy more chocolate tomorrow now...

I just hope the majority can rule..in my experience, too many times they don't, and it's to the detriment and cost of others (severe enough to mean having to sell up and move) :(

  • I only plan to be here for another 3 to 5 years....
If they go extortionate decorating I'll pay them x amount and then say you can have y a month for the rest.
I'm one of the only flats who doesn't owe money for services so hopefully they'll understand it all
