Good evening everyone... I've been a bit agitated today, no sinful food in the house, just an update of today's meals...
Breakfast - weetabix and banana
Lunch - y.s. ham and mustard sandwich made with y.s 19p bread; apple; brazil; tomato
Supper - risotto - made with rice, veg stock, half a pack of ys 30 p mushrooms, garlic, half a red onion, half a red chilli from a y.s. 20p pack of three, flat leaf parsley and a sprinkle of parmesan stirred in at the end. I only made my first risotto about a month ago, I think they sound better than they are tbh but this one was really quite nice, the parsley and the chilli gave it a nice kick.
Countless cups of tea and a few coffees, a small piece of cheddar and a few grapes from a ys 30p packet..0 -
I never, ever, see/get any YS that's useful/good/affordable. I look every time in every shop I ever go to - and always have done. I find, in the main, the few things on offer are weird/expensive stuff with 20p off.
Those who have a shop don't realise how they're not the norm, but the lucky exception.0 -

I'm glad I'm not the only one PN.'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought

My local supermarket also generally lacks these amazing ys deals, there's always loads on the shelf but pennies off rather than costing pennies. Once every couple of months I'll get lucky and they'll be a pack of four fancy scones for about 20p or a block of counter cheese for 50-80p down from about £3.0 -

What supermarket is this, if its one of the big 4 then its a matter of going at the right time, All of them have reductions but its in stages,
through out the day and the real bargains are usually about an hour or so before closing.
First reductions are not usually worth bothering about as it will only be pennies off. Asda is my local as its only a few minutes walk
and I have found that usually by around 4 or 5 they are on their third reduction and will be around half price. Its a 24 hour one so I don't know about their final reduction which will be down to pennies. My best time to go is about 3pm on a Sunday and Ive had some amazing bargains, this week it was fish smoked haddock and cod loin down to 50p and 25p, loads of veg at 5p and 1op and a 5p loaf.Slimming World at target0 -

It's a Mr T open 0600-0000, there's nothing most of the day, things start appearing between 1800 and 1900 at about 20% off generally, between 2000 and 2200 it's either the same price or nothing there. Don't go any later than that generally.0 -

Morning all,
One of the downsides to relying on on-line deliveries is no YS dealsMy son does ok with these at his local Tesco express which tends to do it's final reductions just as he is passing on his way home from work so he frequently buys a sandwich for his lunch the next day for 10p and quite often gets meat/fish/veg for a fraction of the original price.
He's been well trained and knows stuff doesn't go off at the stroke of midnight LOL
Feeling slightly more like it today and looking forward to a nice brunch of lorne & tattie scone with the obligatory HP sauce all the better for having it made for me. Not sure about tonight will let the boy choose so suspect it may be steaks nice for a change to not be in charge of the meals0 -
I find the YS items are generally meat, or ready meals which as a vegetarian I'm not much interested in. I did impulse-buy some YS butternut squash crinkle cut chips the other day; certainly not a normal purchase but there's no way I could ever be arrised to cut squash like that, so they've been stuffed in the freezer for a future treat as spicy wedges.
I did get some very reduced bags of sweet potatoes and parsnips the day after Boxing Day, which were clearly still fine but had technically passed their date. Made loads of nice spicy soup with those. 27 Dec seemed to be a good day for picking up bargains from the fresh stock they didn't shift by Christmas Eve.They are an EYESORES!!!!0
