One week left in Jan with no spends planned (which is good as I've got no money left :p)

Starting to think about Feb - going to aim for £100 for food and household 'stuff'.

I'm going to try having a separate 'out' fund for when friends want to grab lunch in town or go to the cinema. going to try and cap this at £25 for the month - so a lunch and coffee a week.

Hoping this strikes the right balance without breaking the bank.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Thank you, I cannot understand why this has stopped working for me, it happened after a windows 10 upgrade.

Hello, I am signing up again after missing a couple of months.

This is the one area of my budget I just cannot get a hold on. We are determined to clear a big chunk of debt this year and do some work on our new house but overspending on groceries uses up the spare money we would have.

I am setting a target of £80/week for 2 adults, 1 child who only has meals at home at the weekend and the odd breakfast (rest he has in childcare) and 1 small dog. I also include all toiletries, cleaning stuff and anything like foil. food boxes etc. and any booze.

We also follow a high protein, lower carb diet and 1 of us is GF.

We have not bought any booze this month, have stated shopping mostly at Aldi with a few Tesco deliveries as I have a delivery saver but have bought a lot of meat as DH has changed his diet to eat more like me and lose some weight. We have bought a lot of meat though and this has been a big part of our over spend in Jan.

This week I will be listing the freezer and cupboard contents and starting from there for Feb.

Please can you out me down for £320?

    Thanks x

Hi, I briefly joined late in Jan but then we all got poorly and I didn't keep track of anything and i did end up overspending.
I'm still unwell with something new now LOL - I hate having a child in pre-school, the germs never stop!

Anyway payday 25th and I have made a spreadsheet on the computer, got myself a notebook to keep track of stuff i buy out and about. Hubby is on board and we plan to do a weekly shop and then avoid the shop in between as this is our biggest downfall.

4 week month and I think our £50pw budget was a bit tough and unrealistic as we didn't manage it, so im going with £280 for the month. My hope is we wont spend all of that and I can reduce it next month. Id like to get back to £200 a month eventually. I'm feeling guilty it's crept up so i do hope ill get it back down quickly.

  • Hi all,

Been over spending quite a bit recently and keen to get back on track as we have quite a few big spends coming up.

Eager to get going so will be combining the last week of January with our February budget and would be grateful if I could be put down for £500

    Hope everyone's having a great weekend! :)
    January Food Budget: £0/ £500

    Saving for our future
  • I'm putting us down for £140 starting 1st and going until the 28th. This is going to be just for food for 2 people. We have no need for cleaning items etc at all at the moment. Chinchilla budget is separate now. I will get the money out in cash the day before February budget starts as it makes us more aware of what we are spending and what we have left if we use cash.
