    Hello

It's just me and no freezer or microwave but I'm enjoying this challenge as it's making me cook more using recipes and fresh ingredients as the aim is on healthy and nutritional.

After failing my Jan challenge by £3.01 I would like to join the February challenge. Please put me down for £127.

I aim for £130 a calendar month so I'm aware that Feb is a shorter month so it shouldn't be a struggle and will aim to spend £30 a week for 3 weeks and £27 on another (less the £3 I went over in Jan). £130 a month over a year is £30 a week and we have four clear weeks Feb so it's easier to work it out this way, then I should have £10 left over towards the following month or to use as I wish.

I will start at the beginning of the month.

    Good luck all

Please could you put me down for £400? I have now realised that in order to continue to provide OH & DD2 with a diet that doesn't cause further damage to their digestive systems and state of mind (they are both on the Spectrum & very prone to digestive problems, DD2 is also pescatarian & prone to anaemia) I simply can't cut too many corners and go for the cheapest possible options. Whilst I don't want to encourage fussiness, our GP has recommended that they avoid certain things and eat more of others, and it does seem to help. And it's not desperately expensive, just not as inexpensive as it could be, to feed 4 adults.

Luckily we can afford it, but I'll spend the next few months doing some research and seeing whether I can cut it down from there without causing any problems...

ETA: For us, the month runs from 31st Jan to 28th Feb. A nice short one!

    Hello,

Can I be put down for £150 for February please? I've already stupidly used £12 tonight on an entirely unnecessary takeaway, but I'm vowing that that is the last this month! Apart from the waste of money, it is also sabotaging my efforts to lose weight before I go on holiday in March!
    2025 goals
    GC: April £100
Savings: save £6K (or move house)
    Health: Lose 3 stone
Mind: read at least 24 books

Thank you to everyone who runs and organises this thread and to everyone who posts. It's been informative and supportive and I for one are grateful for such a lovely group of people.

Please put me down for £196 for February, that's for groceries, cleaning items and pet food.

Originally, I estimated £10 per day to cover all food but seeing as I grow quite a lot of my vegetables/fruit, buy my meat in bulk, and have bulging freezers I have reorganised my 'grocery challenge' So I have estimated £7 per day for groceries and cleaning. The remaining £3 is for growing veg/fruit and meat. However my overriding aim is not to go above my original estimate of £10 per day or £3650 per year.

Hi everyone, can I join February, starting 1st Feb. I'm upping it from last month to £80. It's for 2 adults, though my daughter does buy a lot of her own stuff for her and her b/f, It's to cover all food, cleaning/laundry stuff, takeaways (wots that) and any food on the go. I will be cooking a lot this month for my parents, as my mum is just out of hospital and my dad is not coping too well. Not sure whether to take it out of this budget or set a separate one, I guess it will depend how much i'm cooking them, so I will see. but as of now it's coming out of here. I noticed I wasn't put on the list last month, not a worry, but can I please be put on this one, pretty please?? Thanking you.

I've just totted up my home delivery food shop spends for January and these total £495.88  This doesn't include my top up shops :eek::eek: so its back to the drawing board, back to planning and eating up what I have rather than thinking oh I fancy this/fancy that.... and spending all my money and more on food.

I have plenty of food in the house both in the freezer, fridge and cupboard so no excuses.

For February, I'm aiming for a budget of £250 :) Good luck all

    for me for Feb please.
My first time for ages, so thanks in advance for having me back.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!
  • January challenge finishes next Tuesday and will probably be about £3 over, so not bad.

Please put me down for £200 1st - 28th February.

    Okay.

    February starts Monday.

I need to review what I've got in, meal plan, and read through my slimming world books again.

    Pancake day coming up.
Meal plan for pancake day is always American style (shop bought) pancakes for breakfast, ham and cheese pancakes for lunch, duck & hoisin pancakes for dinner, and traditional pancakes with lemon and sugar and (must be) squirty cream for puddin :p. One day doesn't do any harm.

And I've got a weekend away planned - was going with a friend but her uncle is in hospital with end stage cancer so... Not sure if I'll go by myself and then again after it's all over to give her a break away or if I'll just wait until she's ready.

I'm aiming not to spend any money this weekend. Having lunch with a friend next week (falafels), but other than that should be able to not spend money next week.

    We shall see...
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
