    Good morning everyone

I've just finished last month's challenge under budget so I will join in again this month with a budget of £440. February is a fairly quiet month for me with no significant birthdays or special events. March on the other hand is a very expensive month with 2 of my DD's having birthdays as well as my grand daughter, and not forgetting our dog too :rotfl:.

    Good morning folks

Thanks to Zippy and Coxy for organising this thread :D

I'm in again for usual £200 for the month to cover all food, household stuff, cleaning and laundry, first to last day of the month.

This for myself and DH, though we will be entertaining my hollow-legged DS for a week - might struggle a bit :rotfl:

A warm welcome to the new peoples and returners and good luck with the challenge everyone.

    Morning All

Thanks to all the wonderful support that i received in Januarys GC, i managed to stick to my monthly food budget for the first time ever

So i am back for another month! I'd like to go for £400 again in Feb, the last time before i start slowly decreasing it.

Thanks so much for running this thread every month, it really has made the world of difference to me. And thank you to all the wonderful people who help and encouraged me in January.
  • Hi

Please can I try for £300 for feb. I keep missing my £250 target so think I should try to be more realistic.

    Wish me luck everyone.

    Maria.
  • Please could I be part of February challenge? Budget - £150 (£37.5 per week). Thank you! :j
    GC May £0/£150
    GC Mar £46.95/£150
    GC Feb £185.75/£150
  • Please can I join in here for February? I'm a newbie poster but have been taking part in the freezer and food stores challenge which has really helped to see where my opportunities are for saving and using stuff up efficiently. I will continue on that thread too as my freezers are 'rather full'.

But I don't really know how much we do spend on grocery shopping and haven't ever set a budget as such. So would say a cautious £300 for the month of February to include all shopping for food, drink, household and I will collect all receipts to tally up what my actual spend is. I hope that's okay. It is for 2 adults and 2 children (although I have a small appetite, OH has a mahoosive appetite and my DS doesn't have a stop switch).

Any savings from this £300 will go to holiday savings for summer (not that we have a holiday booked yet!)

Looking forward to taking part with you all and thank you for the thread.
  • Hello,

Managed to skip Dec/Jan so can I join in here please, I would like to say £250 which is dropping our "normal" by £50 only because I want to pay our Rates by DD

    Thanks

    Hi everyone,

Budgets list updated to here :)

Sorry not to have been on much lately. Work is very busy and I'm still supporting my sister through her grief (and dealing with mine :( )

Hope you all do really well this month, and welcome to all the newbies - nice to have you along :)

    Coxy

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Best wishes :)

  • My month runs from 25 January until 24 February. So, I did my first shop yesterday. Spent £50.63 across 3 stores. Didn't buy much dinner 'stuff' as I had a lot of store cupboard items that had run out and needed replenishing. That means we'll have to eat out of the cupboard and freezer this week. I know we have plenty in and so it shouldn't be too hard.

We ran very low of cereal at the weekend. Normally I would have nipped to the shop and replenished the cupboard for DH & both DDs. They all moaned that there was nothing for breakfast! Trying desperately not to dip into February's budget, I informed them all that there was still a box of hoops in the cupboard should they insist on cereal. However, they could vary their diets a little and perhaps they could choose from porridge, bagels, crumpets, eggs, toast, smoothie (we have all of the ingredients), baked beans. That shut them all up and stopped me touching February's money!
