I looked at Sainsburys Energy but their tariffs are the same as the standard variable that I will move onto with BG no saving for me :-(
It looks like OFGEM have stopped BG from offering cheaper tariffs for a "white label brand ". Not much point in having a no frills BG supplier if their tariffs have been artificially risen by OFGEM. BG and Sainsburys are NOW the same high prices .The cheapest tariff of the year in the UK in my area last year was the Sainsburys June 2017 fix....So OFGEM have fixed it again against lower prices

    Hi House Martin

I'm not sure this is strictly true. Rather the Ofgem ruling is that if a provider has a cheaper tariff with one of its white labels, it must share this information under the 'cheapest alternative tariff' message on its bills. So in this scenario, if Sainsbury's has a cheaper tariff, British Gas must tells its customers.

Intermittently over the past few months there have been some cheapish Sainsbury's tariffs, though it is true that the standard variable rates for each brand are in line.

Just thought I'd clear up how this works - there are plenty of other issues where we'd agree that Ofgem haven't got things quite right!
  • I am currently on this Tariff and am struggling to find a better deal , having looked on Comparison Sites .
Does anyone know approx time it takes to switch to a new provider ?
I am a low user , would prefer to stay with same Company for Gas and Electric .
Does anyone have any recommendations , would prefer a Fix if possible .
Any replies would be appreciated thank you

    Hi, to you both. :)

You won't be able to sigh up for the same collective tariff, I'm afraid.

You will find some more information on this thread:

Hi All, also on the feb17 tariff.

quick question to those who know, I received the £140 warm home payment due to illness this past year so don't think I will receive next year as hope to be back in work.
it shows as a miscellaneous adjustment paid on 16th December
so my question is when I switch will I loose this or will it be credited back to me ?? I'm not doing nothing until next weeks MSE email hoping they will come up with another fix

    Thanks

    Thanks for that joyful
  • Just noted that one of the Co-ops deals has disappeared from all comparison sites.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

  • Not long now until the weekly email, looks like a lot of people will be arranging a switch tomorrow, either to a collective MSE arrange or elsewhere...
