Goodbye BG Collective Fix Feb 2017

Now that we are within the 50 day period when you can switch without penalty, I would like to hear what others are doing.
It dosent look like MSE are able to get another fix going, so what are the rest of you guys going to do?
Its getting near to "make your mind up time".
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

As no one else will be in the exact same situation as you, I suggest you consult a comparison site and find the best deal for you. :)

I've looked around, and Avro Energy seem the cheapest for me, on their 12 month fix. Question is.... Do I fix with them now, or wait until closer to the BG fix end date. I'll be paying £12 more/month with Avro, but it's still cheaper than what the BG tariff will be going up to.

Remember that not all suppliers appear on comparison sites e.g. Iresa and that most new small suppliers have not signed up to faster switching, so don't delay.

Depends if you are inside the 49 day period when you cannot be charged an exit fee, and whether you think that the Avro tariff may be pulled before you commence a switch if you delay.

I've just been looking and found some variable tarriffs with no exit fees that are cheaper than what I'll be transferred to if I stay with BG. I don't really want another one with exit fees if I can help it as if a good collective fix comes along it might not be worth paying exit fees to join it.

Ones I've looked at are GnERGY and Robin Hood Energy so might wait another few days reassess and maybe move to one of them for the time being.

The Avro fixed one doesn't have exit fees but I'm torn as to what to do.
I think whatever I do my costs are going up.

Also I can't iniate a switch before friday as I am having new smart meters fitted. I know they may not be smart meters if I swap but since we needed both changed anyway thought I'd get it done :-)
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

  • I can't seem to find cheaper than EDF fixed blue rate for my place. I have to run electric heaters which is so expensive in the Winter.

Can't wait to move to a place that has central heating!

  • I have been hanging on hoping that MSE were able to get another "Collective" going before the present one runs out at the end of February.

Obviously none of the biggies want to play ball so its down to getting the best deal without exit fees.
The downside is that a lot of the smaller independents dont show up on comparison sites.

    Hence my original post.
I admit I havent even heard of half the names so far mentioned!

Dont forget Sainsburys Energy have better tariffs than BG and are part of the set-up.no exit fees and cashbacks paid too. I was on that BG tariff and moved to an even better deal than the BGcollective with Sainsburys Energy. Unfortunately I have moved house since then but still own that property on the cracking tariff with Sainsburys. I need to switch supply to Ebico now for the vacant property on the best electric rate in the UK !

  • I looked at Sainsburys Energy but their tariffs are the same as the standard variable that I will move onto with BG no saving for me :-(

Thanks for this. My best quote though MSE Club was £50/month. This one is £43.99/month (1 yr fix). No exit fees.

Is there a list of suppliers not on comparison sites anywhere?
