Goodbye BG Collective Fix Feb 2017

Is there a chance that BG could try and persuade me to stay with some kind of special retention deal as Scottish Power tried to get me to stay before I went to BG?
No chance.
You will only be offered something from their existing range of tariffs
See the advice I gave in post#2 if you want to get the best possible deal0 -

Thanks footyguy, mad thing was I actually felt a bit guilty turning down Scottish Power despite having horrendous problems with them! British Gas haven't really been that much better, they made a mess of the switch.
I have considered what has also been suggested, using different providers for gas and electric and I would save around £1-2 per month for gas but that benefit is lost with the extra I'd have to pay for the cheapest electric tariff even when factoring in discounts/cashback
Iresa beats both dual fuel tariffs and electric and gas with the cheapest companies individually so I think I'll be going the same way as others here and head to Iresa until the collective switch here comes out and see if that beats it...0 -
With whom? Details please.
Hi Cardew, it's not known yet - MSE Laura posted on this thread (#14):

My ideal situation would be to switch to Iresa on 1st March when the BG Collective switch ends and be fully switched by the time the new collective switch comes out but I doubt everything would go as clockwork as that!
I can imagine being halfway through the switching process as the collective switch comes out and end up in a mess but might as well take the gamble now especially with no exit fees with the fear of price rises in March anyway.
The Iresa tariff will cost me more than the Collective switch but only £45 a year so trivial really...0 -

The IRESA tariff appears to be cheapest available on Cheap Energy Club and Which comparison sites. However the customer reviews are heavily populated with very bad comments.
Avro are a little bit more expensive but have better reviews.
I am still trying to shut down an account with a previous cheapest supplier called Extra Energy which has similar poor reviews to IRESA. Watch what you are doing with them if thats the way you go.0 -
Can I just confirm - it is 48 (ish) days before the tariff ends.
Can BG Collective Fix Feb 2017 customers now change supplier without penalty?0 -

Thank You for this thread!
I am at a loss as to who to switch to, EVERYTHING is so much more expensive. I will have a look at all the other companies people have suggested here
I'm also sick of receiving rubbish service, Scottish Power were good for a few years but then 'upgraded' their system and the billing went tilt. Switched to Co-Op :rotfl: similar situation. Switched to BG and they billed me once on 1st July then I heard nothing from them until I nudged them on 1st December even though I have entered readings on 1st every month, THEN they billed me again on 7th December with estimated readings! and all my meter readings since July have disappeared from the site.
Do any of the companies create a bill when readings are entered? Scottish Power did up to a point.0
