I want a better deal so hope MSE get something good as is a huge increase.

They failed to do so, as indeed did EHL, a couple of months ago. To its credit, MSE did not promote the collective switch as other cheaper were already on the market. My guess is that the days of collective switches are now over following the CMA's recommendations to let the market go in any direction that it sees fit.

Come what may, the deal on the table will cost a lot more now than it did a year ago I'm afraid.

Do any of the companies create a bill when readings are entered? Scottish Power did up to a point.

Iresa will update what it calls Transactions a couple of days after each meter reading is entered. This shows a credit/debit balance on the day that the meter reading was entered. They also bill once a month. All done online.

    Edit:

Or not as seems to be the case at the moment. Offline due to maintenance or capacity issues.

We also are on BG collective to end 28 February.
On Cheap Energy Club one of its recommendations for us is Bulb Energy and we will get £30 cashback
Does any one have any views about Bulb Energy?
    Thanks [n advance

  • I'm on this tariff and looking around at other deals. To clarify when I would be able to leave the BG fix without penalty I've just rung BG to be told it was only within the last 30 days before the fixed deal ends, i.e. 30 days prior to 28th Feb. When I told the adviser that I'd read on the Ofgem web site they should notify me between 42 and 49 days from the end I was told no, it was 30 days and that different suppliers could set their own dates. I was a bit perplexed, after all its only a couple of weeks difference, but surely, if they subscribe to an industry standard then a company the size of BG should be getting this right?

CS is talking complete rubbish. All suppliers have a Standard Licence Condition which requires them to notify customers that a fixed tariff is coming to end in the period 49 to 42 days before the end of the contract. Personally, I would raise a complaint in writing. These clowns need to be told. If not them, then their seniors. A complaint will do this.

  • I got a letter from British Gas the other day telling me my 'fix' was coming to an end on 28th February and that I could switch to one of their other tariffs or move to another supplier anytime after 11th January without paying any exit fees.

I still don't know what to do !

You have to do something. Inaction will result in your tariff switching to BG's most expensive standard variable rate.

Run a comparison on MSE CEC or A N Other PCW. Use kWhs/year not £s to get an accurate result. Electricity prices are on the increase so my advice is do not wait.

Wish I had that letter - I would have switched last week.
