unless I just take a hit going back on standard tariff with no exit fee for a while and see if a better collective deal ? MSE or tariff appears later..

Because british gas are so expensive, then I'm not convinced there can ever be a collective deal good enough to justify waiting.

    Thats exactly my thinking!

I have waited long enough so I am swapping today.
Just have to decide who to go with :)
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left!

  • Just seen this in the preview for the email going out tomorrow on facebook

"Are you doing a new Big Energy Switch?
We're swamped with questions on this (especially from those whose current collective deal's up soon). We're trying really hard but with energy prices rising rapidly, it's tough to get providers to play ball. By next week's email we'll either have a deal, or if not, tell you the best thing to do."

Might hold fire till next week
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

There was a collective released today by The Big Deal. It is more expensive than the cheapest deals already on MSE CEC. Now that the market has been opened up to competition, and with energy prices rising, there appears to be little appetite amongst suppliers for these type of deals.

Why - because 100000 switchers costs them c.£6M in referral fees. Some of the smaller suppliers would rather keep this money and offer cheaper energy; e.g., Iresa.

    Hi all

A quick update on MSE's collective plans. Our Cheap Energy Club mailbox has been swamped with questions on this (especially from those whose current collective deal's up soon).

    I hope that helps.

I'm in exactly the same boat and have opted to move to the EDF Blue+Price Protection Jan18. Based on my usage, region, no exit fees and the customer service scores this looked to be about the best option, but it will increase my dual fuel monthly payment by around £40/month :(. A collective switch would be appreciated ASAP as I have just been informed by BG that my switch will take place on 2nd Feb. I only kicked off the process on 17th Jan through the Cheap Energy Club!

We too have gone for the EDF Blue +Price Protection until Jan 2018 but in our case it is costing us £4 less than the Collective Fix, so we are very happy. We are also very happy that, rather than going through the MSE Energy Club, we have done it through the Top Cashback site where EDF are offering £80 cashback for the next 3 days. Their customer service is also very good too.

Afraid when I tried the EDF Blue+Price Protection Jan 18 the quote was dearer than the standard BG tariff that I'll be transferred to if I don't switch.
Most of the cheaper quotes are from smaller companies none of which seem to have even slightly positive feedback in terms of service.
Now looking away from dual fuel deals. Gas from a positively rated supplier at same price as now is possible but haven't found one for electricity yet that seems ok
