  • Morning from the top of a hill twixt the Pennines and Yorkshire Dales. We had a covering last evening, which was blowing all over the place through the night when the wind started up again. It has just started snowing again and we have three DGDs here sleeping to take to two different schools this morning!! If this carries on they won't be going anywhere as the car will be stuck in the garage! Plus I am worrying about their mum driving to work at 6.30. I hate snow!!!

Snowing quite heavily here-about 12 miles east of Manchester.

Have just discovered DH needs to go into the office at some point today-I've been warning him about the weather all week ! He's going to wait a while and then we'll check the road reports and the local Facebook page. If necessary he can get the train.

I went to the supermarket yesterday so don't need to go out. I hate snow too. Also am quite concerned about my niece who lives in a village on the Essex coast . She has two small children. I'm hoping she won't be flooded.

:) Might be a good idea to check your council's website beforehand, in case the schools are listed as closed.

All our local schools seem to be shut today. Lots of posts from parents on Facebook.

The roads over the Pennines -Snake, Woodhead etc are shut and it seems pretty bad on the roads towards Manchester.

DH is going to wait then go in by train if they are still running.

Paper boy has managed to deliver paper so that's keeping DH occupied for a while.
  • Weather here - bad by my standards (very windy - howling and blowing things around in the garden). But "workable" by local standards - so will try not to give way to temptation to think "It's too bad for me - I'll stay in:("...

No sign of any snow at any rate:)

Wind picked up here again too and we got another couple inches overnight. Husband been oot already playing with his snow shovel, cleared our steep wee cul de sac. Temp is minus 1 and I need to go and feed the birds.
  • Morning all,
Woken up to a light sprinkle of the white stuff. It was trying to snow last night but was mixed up with rain so really didn't think any would stick.
Certainly not enough to be running out for bread and milk thankfully!
Take care all who have a good helping of the stuff tho.

Snow started here at 5pm yesterday, and now there's a few inches. Temperature is -2. The ice is the worst part.

I got slightly hopeful this morning when I noticed a neighbour clearing his car and heading off down the hill. I thought it mustn't be too bad then. A few minutes later, he's on foot coming back up the hill, with the car sitting in a hedge, hazards flashing!

Snowing again in north London, but only settling on the car. Our bunny is safely stowed in the garage (in a hutch) with the oil radiator on. He's elderly so I put him in there when the temperature dips. Unfortunately he can't see out of the window so I hope he's not too bored. I did ask DH if we should put a tv in there for him but he looked at me like I'm nuts so maybe not lol.
  • Actually really good on this forum as its giving us all a rough idea of where the snow is coming down and whether to venture out or not I live in north kent (Medway area and although nippy and a bit windy the snow doesn't seem to be settling at the moment and the roads seem to be relatively clearish ,certainly not enough to get the shovels out just yet :) we are a more up-to-date service than the Weather forecast as seeing where its actually coming down may help you decide whether to brave the elements or not .I have just nipped to the shops (literally five minutes away) and got my essential shop and it came to £13.94 so I was pleased with what I had and saw no need to overspend.
Hope those who are stuck out in the country manage to keep warm and have enough to keep them amused and fed whilst being stuck indoors .
Dany-candy my son-in-law leaves classical fm playing low for his two dogs when he goes to work in the morning as he says he thinks its soothing for them :):):) Very culturally aware mutts they are :):):)
