  • This is crazy, intallspark is right - and I had thought this for some time. Their terms that you agree to, allow them to not honor the code, and hence not accept the order and reprice the item. But upon dispatch of the goods they have accepted the order AND the code.

It clearly says "acceptance of this order is subject to" these checks, it doesnt say after the order is compete we can backtrack due to these checks.

And anyway, the biggest thing that no1 has even touched upon is.....

.... what if we all printed off flyers with the code and posted them all around our neighbourhood?

All these innocent people, who would PERSONALLY have been "given" the code (as far as they are aware the mailshot is official) would then be stung with Littlewoods chasing the discount back off them. Its a joke.

Whats to say the voucher was printed by our paper boy and placed inside our local paper? As far as we know, it HAD been given to us personally as would be impossible to prove otherwise!

  • So is it just the £25 off code that people are having bother with?
What about the £10 off and the £10% off?
  • This is Littlewoods reply to my last letter:

MCOL time I think, just need to work out the wording of the claim[/quote]

got exactly the same letter. be interested to see your response
  • I also used some codes I got on here but so far have not had a letter. A friend tells me if I do to write to them and tell them that this is a breach of consumer law and that under The Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 such behaviour on their behalf would not stand up to a test of "reasonableness" in court and that you will not pay.
Also could try contacting Trading Standards via their website on

I have just given in and sent my cheque , together with another letter of complaint telling them exactly what I thought of them and to close my account . I know they won't care about my letter but it made me feel better , I really cannot take the hassel any more , but I wish those that are sticking it out , the best if luck.

I have suffered the same. Accidently used the code twice having found it on here. over a month after using the codes I recieved a letter saying I owed £50. I tried to contact them nd refund the clothing I had bought as I hadnt used it, but they said I was out of the 28 day refund agreement, so I had no choice but to pay the full £50, plus an additional £12 that was accrued because of time wasted trying to talk to Littlewoods.

If anyone can see a way for me to claim back my money then I would be really grateful

    Many thanks
  • To add insult to injury, Littlewoods have now applied and admin charge to the account (non credit). Seems like they want to dig a really big hole for themselves as they have already been formally notified that the amount is in dispute and so have breached the OFT guidlines on Debt Collection - Unfair business practise. THis action is now viewed as harassment conttrary to s40(1) Administration of Justice Act.

A claim is going in against them
    Particulars of Claim

    1. The Defendant entered into a contract, under its own terms and conditions, to supply goods to the value of £1.10 on 01 August 2008.

    2. The Defendant debited the Claimant's bank card to the value of £26.10 on 25th July 2007 and subsequently refunded to the Claimant's bank card the sum of £25.00 on 27th July 2007.

    3. On 22nd September the Defendant issued a statement, statement number 3, showing an amount of £25.00 due. No previous statements had been received by the Claimant.

    4. The Defendant is in breach of contract by demanding the additional sum of £25.00

    5. By virtue of the Defendant's breach of contract the Claimant has suffered damage and incurred extra costs.

    6. The damage caused is:

The Claimant has had to spend significant time and effort in attempting to reach a reasonable and amicable agreement in order to settle the matter.

The Defendant has sent correspondence relating to paragraph 2.3 of the Terms and Conditions(voucher codes). This is not withstanding paragraphs 2.2 (contract formation) and 3.3 (incorrect pricing) of the Terms and Conditions.

The costs incurred are detailed as:

    Time - 2.0 hours @ £20.00 p/h £40.00
    Telephone - 18.6 mins @ 20p per minute £3.72
    Postage - Special Delivery (2 letters) £8.60
    Total cost £52.32

    7. The Claimant seeks an order that the Defendant is in breach of contract

    8. The Claimant claims that the Defendant has breached the Office Of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidance- Unfair Business Practices July 2003 which states that whilst this alleged debt is in dispute and being investigated the Defendant must cease all collection activity. The defendant has applied an unlawful administration charge to the value of £12.00 on statement number 4, dated 20th October 2007. The Claimant views this action as harassment contrary to section 40 (1) Administration of Justice Act 1970

    9. The Claimant claims costs incurred to the value of £52.32 also damages for Breach of Contract and Harassment within the discretion of the Court.

    10. Correspondence between Claimant and Defendant together with copy of Defendant's Terms and Conditions to be forwarded to the Court in due course.
Time to see what Littlewoods reply will be to a summons
