  • Not having online banking is so weird! You’d think they’d at the very least have PayPal!
I don’t do Apple Pay either, I’m not sure I trust it, or myself 😁

  • I LOVE Apple Pay - proved its worth one again at the weekend when we were ordering Wetherspoons breakfasts and I was the only one round the table able to pay without needing to get a card out...! For tube or bus travel though it's a proper plastic oyster card all the way - FAR too difficult tieing up face ID with an Oyster reader and as a born and bred Londoner I too despise the people who hold up the flow through the barriers by faffing!

Charity shops overcharging for stuff - whatever the stuff is - is a real one of contention for me. Around our way all the BHF shops charge crazy amounts for stuff - £3 for a paperback for instance. Not a flipping chance!

I've always found Oxfam to be well overpriced too. Generally the little independent charity shops are better I think. Although we have one that's like a bric a brac jumble sale. You cant see the wood for the trees and it gives me the heebyjeebies 😬 avoid, avoid!!

I thought it was just me. I rarely go in as there is stuff everywhere.
  • I've only ever found good stuff in TK Maxx when I'm not looking for anything in particular - I used to live about 5 mins away from one so I could pop in at 7pm when it was deserted. But it is the worst place to go when I'm looking for something specific, the tat seems to quadruple!

We've got those cute phone box libraries around here, I keep thinking they wouldn't last 5 minutes where I used to live!
  • I’m the same with Next sales…big jumbles of mixed up bargains and stampedes of people. Online sales were a game changer! When I worked near a TK Max I never found anything worth getting, I suspect I was doing it wrong!

I never find anything in TK Maxx unless it's some Christmas gifts. I used to love the NEXT sale but only if I was there very, very early!

@GeorgianaCavendish I'd love a phone box library but suspect they are the thing of rural villages.

Gah! The kids seem to be heamorraging (sp?) money! 16yo keeps going off to college then asking for lunch money.  I've paid out £270 on his uniforms, knives and text books. Then on the other hand put £10 on 11yo's finger at school and paid £18 for her school cookery lessons.

In good news I am on day two of no smoking but have been vaping although not as much as I would have smoked. It took all my willpower today not to go to the shops.

  • Well done on the not smoking. Would some fancy lollies help? I think something to hold in your fingers might give them something else to do?
