  • Oh absolutely - I LOVE seeing a nice untouched EF - and even more adding to it, so I definitely feel your pain here!

Hope your cough retreats soon - definitely NOT the sort of cold you want at the moment!

The engineer came yesterday. He thinks the boiler needs parts and has ordered them and will be coming back on Thursday. So yay to not needing a new boiler yet but will also need to pay for the parts and I guess really start saving for a new boiler.

Last night I also became one of those people queuing at the petrol station.  The car was on it's fumes. It took me an hour.  I just bunged a CD in and enjoyed the time although by the time I got there they only had the premium unleaded left at £1.50 a litre!! I think the petrol budget is also going to need looking at shortly.

Hope everyone is safe and well.

  • Ouch to that fuel cost but hurrah to both actually getting some of it, and to the boiler! (And I was one of those people today too - at least we can both be reassured that unlike a lot of those surrounding us we did actually need to be there!)

I can imagine most people at petrol stations now are those that have waited as long as possible. Hopefully it'll be back to normal soon. Usually I fill up at the supermarket so yes, that £1.50 a litre was painful! 😬

  • I fear that a lot are still those causing the problem - when I went yesterday there were two people at adjacent pumps both filling cans, rather than their actual cars, and a friend saw someone put in £4.20's worth of unleaded yesterday morning, clearly just topping up a tank that definitely didn't need it!

Oh that's just unnecessary! My FiL delivers prescriptions for two local pharmacies, he's been hanging on but will need it today. He just doesn't want to queue 😐  I keep telling him he has no choice.

  • I sat for 15 minutes at the first place I tried yesterday, then u-turned out of the queue as it was barely moving and with people coming around the wrong side of the junction to avoid the queue alongside me it just felt unsafe. The fourth place eventually did the trick, and with not too long a queue either - I twigged that the place just before the motorway might be the best bet and so it was! I hate sitting in the car queuing though so I can sympathise with your FiL's view!

  • I have noticed driving past my usual spots for fuel that the prices are starting to creep upwards. I am no conspiracy theorist but sometimes I do wonder haha! I am hoping this passes soon, I am not the biggest fan of the sat stationary in a queue either.

@FootyFanDan there's a Texaco at the bottom of my road, I think they're expensive anyway but he put his prices up 20p a litre on Friday night. Lots of angry people on local FB groups.

  • There was a garage near me that is normal pretty cheap - they were closed on Friday morning and all out fuel...I drove back past it at 6pm and they were back open at 1.49 a litre
