I’m so sorry about your puppy. I fell foul of a cat breeder, where I travelled hundreds of miles to pick up a kitten, when I got him home he was very ill, full of ear mites and sneezes. We didn’t see his mother and I kicked myself for not checking properly, just happily handed over a lot of money…and then lots more at the vets. He is 12 now, so I had a much happier ending, but do know how it’s easy to get sucked in. I complained to the breeder, but was ignored several times and didn’t take it further ☹️
I’m so sorry for your loss. Poor, poor puppy 😢 it was not your fault! 🌺

It’s so hard to walk away when you see them.

Glad you giving statements to stop it happening to anyone else.

There certainly are and this is what my 11yo struggled to understand.  Why the man who seemed so nice wasn't.  She said maybe he didn't know the puppy was sick. It was hard explaining. We as nice, kind people expect it from others.

  • So sorry to hear about the puppy, that must have been so difficult for you all. Glad you are helping to take down the puppy breeder.

Something to consider while you decide on whether to get another dog might be sponsoring a puppy or dog. It’s nice for the kids because they get updates in the post etc. My nieces have the dog kennel and cat cabin sponsorships at Battersea, it’s £5 a month and they get 3-4 updates a year with photos of the animals that stayed in “their” kennel/cabin. I think Dogs Trust do sponsorships or you can sponsor a guide dog puppy - there is a really cute documentary on Netflix about guide dog puppies training too.

Oh no! :( I am so sorry to read about the latest goings on. There are some truly horrible people in this world who don't care about other people's feelings and just want to make quick cash with no consideration at all to the party involved. Sending hugs to you and the family, it is so tough at times trying to explain to kids how/why some in the world act like they do. Especially when you are bringing them up to be a decent human, the world through a kids eyes can be a very different place.

Thanks for being so understanding everyone.

I have spent 2 hours on the phone to the RSPCA giving a formal statement this evening.  Two other people have come forward this week so now with three willing co-operatives within a short amount of time,  they can absolutely build a case. It will all be sent to the special investigations unit and warrants will be issued.

Excellent news even though it has caused you and your family a lot of heartache. The more of these evil people that get stopped the better. I just wish the penalties were more severe and the courts sentenced properly instead of giving a slap on the wrist and a ban on keeping animals which nobody monitors. The sooner that companion animals are seen as family not property the better.

Yes, buying a pet is no different to buying a tv in the eyes of the law. They did say the law has recently changed and they could now be sentenced up to 5 years.

We may have been very stupid with what's happened but it's making me so determined to try and get justice for the puppy.

Just had an absolutely torrential downpour here and now got water coming in all over the kitchen.  Thank God I still have some emergency fund as will need to get the roof looked at pronto!

Never seen the rain so heavy so fast. Actually need to swim up to my front door. The front garden is literally under water.

This is the road to our train station! 😮

Good grief! That’s so scary. I hope you can get the roof sorted for minimal cost and upset.
