Well done on the re-gifting, I forgot one of ds2's presents at christmas so took it back last week and with it bought my niece some pyjamas for her birthday from Sainsburys, nothing better than a free present lol.
I am exactly the same with checking my accounts etc, it can get  bit obsessive I think lol.  I got paid last week but the majority of my DD come out between now and the 1st x
Luckily I hadn't uploaded it onto my Amazon account.  DD also got a present for Christmas she doesn't want. I'm holding onto it to see if I can re-gift it anywhere.  I might give it to my niece for her birthday in May.  It's DS's 16th birthday in June so thinking I might need to up my birthday budget a bit if I can.  Ynab has certainly made me think about my budget these past few days and where it's needed.

  • I completely agree, it has made me start to look at the little figures and how saving here and there really does make a difference.  I am planning to do my niece a little hamper with some little eye masks, facemasks etc to go with the pyjamas.  Rather than just buy it all I decided I have loads of them already so going to use what I have and then just buy a few little bath bombs etc if i need to.  I bought a set with big fluffy socks and foot creams from Card factory in there January sales so think it will look quite impressive once I have finished.   xx

Sounds lovely, I love thoughtful gifts like that. My niece lives reading and last year her room was decorated near her birthday so I bought a book holder cushion from Etsy to match her room.

So my ynab is green and at 0! Theres money I've stuck in the "overdraft" budget but I need to get 11yo's bedroom finished so will use some of the money in that budget pot. We had the wardrobe built but that was it. It's still plain mdf so tomorrow I plan to go and get primer and make a start on it. I was on a DIY FB page and someone suggested using self adhesive wallpaper. I think it soulds like a great idea so I've been looking for some. Wayfair have some nice ones and can go via Topcashback for some pennies back.

I was watching the Money Show last night. I've checked my Barclaycard and don't think my payments are changing but I wonder if its because this is the account I overpay by a min £60 -£70 a month?

No more financials to report until the Dd's all start coming out next week. Will see how the ynab budget holds up then.

Spent £98 in Homebase yesterday but all accounted for.

We also had a takeaway last night but I have an eating out pot so we can have one takeaway a month.  Ordered via Topcashback and just eat so will get a few pennies back and the restaurant was offering 25% off .

I uploaded the transactions onto ynab on my phone but as I transfer money in and out of Monzo to my joint account,  I need to look at it on the computer I think for it to be clear I've done the right thing.

I also started Tilly Tidying my Monzo account and have managed £12.28 this month. Not a great amount but every little helps.

Credit cards £32 shy of being under £27k. Still need to make my overpayments but I'll do that tomorrow.

Yesterday was wet & windy but today is much brighter so hoping to get the dog out for a walk in the park later.

Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

    Morning all,

Two overpayments made to the Barclaycard today £12.28 from my tilly tidying and £17.35 which was made up from Ebay sales and prolific earnings this week.  The DD doesn't come out until the 8th Jan so they will probably reduce it by this amount so need to make sure I add another payment to up it to the set amount I have to pay.

Ynab seems to have done as I expected which is good. Had a bit of a faff this morning as had to pay the vets fee's but only transfer a bit out of the Monzo pot as not enough in there. Took me a while to work out how to do it on ynab but seems to be ok now.  I was searching for bits on ynab at the weekend and came accross this:

I know some people colour in squares but I love this and may try and do something similar.  Looks so nice with the pictures to colour rather than just squares.  I just need to see if I have any squared paper now or print off an excel sheet! lol

MrM and I have made up but I am so tired, I think it's residual from not sleeping well last week and last night I had ynab on my mind as I couldn't wait to look at it this morning.  Good job I did a bit of extra cooking yesterday when making dinner. I cooked extra mash and veg so tonight is sausages with bubble and squeak and won't take long at all.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Isn't it just?  Both my kids got a super pack of felt tips for Christmas but 15yo doesn't want his so I going to claim them and do this I think.  To be honest I only really have CC debt and bank of Mum and Dad but sure I could bling something up!
