A Ditherer's Diary (again)

You may have hit the nail on the head there. It's like an obsession to keep checking the figures. Also because I'm so new to ynab, I just want to keep on top of it although I haven't put my credit cards on there like you are meant to. I just have the budget for debt payments.
Tilly tidying upto £2.50 so far. Treated 11yo to a happy meal last night and off to get bits for our baking shortly.Credit Cards NOV 2019 £33,220.42 Sept 2023 £19,951.00 Tilly Tidy 20223/COLOR] Sept £43.71 Here's my diary: A Ditherer's Diary Again1 -
I hear you with the thinking about over-viewing on the YNAB/Spreadsheet front. I also feel this way a bit, there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by where I am not looking at something budget related. I do enjoy the fact I am top of my finances but sometimes I feel that I am over analysing the budget too. I am that used to having to find money to cover things that now things have settled down I think something is missing from budget or I am behind on something. I seem to have gone from spending too much to analysing every single spend - I think there as to be some balance but it is nice to be aware of finances too1

Had a fairly quiet weekend. I did pop out the shops on Saturday to get a few bits but only spent £22. I do have to go out today and get some ingredients for 11yo as they are doing some kind of mug cake online 🤦♀️ I also have to get the dog some more dog food. I changed his dried food and it really hasn't agreed with his tummy so I need to go and get some of the old stuff. He's driven me nuts this weekend but it's probably because he's not feeling very well.
I had a very bloodthirsty weekend. I have been binge watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix - all Vikings and Saxons with lots of swords and battles, then I moved onto the Hunger Games last night. I have alas, neglected the house and all housework. I'm blaming it on lockdown. 😬
I have next Monday and Tuesday booked off of work to crack on with decorating the wardrobe in 11yo's bedroom. Have found some type wallpaper I want to put on the doors. I saw someone using it on an FB group I'm a member of and it looked really good. I just hope I can do it justice.
Not much financially to report. Have updated ynab with the weekends transactions against my bank statement. There shouldn't be too much action on the account now apart from groceries and some credit card direct debits still to go.
Hope you all had a good weekend even though it's so blasted cold!

I was wondering if any of you have an Amazon credit card? I like to skulk around other boards than the DFW and was on the credit card board. It seems that if you have an Amazon card you get cashback/Amazon vouchers. I was thinking of applying only for using on Amazon purchases. When I purchase something I could put the money in a pot and then pay it off in full when the statement comes in. I know I still have a fair way to go with the credit card debt but I think anything that earns me some more vouchers etc can be a good thing. I'll give it a bit more of think but can't see any downside to it as long as I am paying it off in full every month.
In other news, this weeks shopping came in at £95.00 exactly although my eggs need refunding as they are cracked. I will have to get more as the 15yo often eats scrambled egg for breakfast and it's pancake day next week.
This weeks meal plan is:
Pork escalopes - left over from last weeks shop
Steaks - given to us by MiL
Chicken wings
Roast Chicken
Burritos
chicken traybake
Lamb pilaf
I have ordered some self adhesive wallpaper for the side and the doors of the 11yo's wardrobe so I should have everything I need to get on now. I need to go through the rest of her stuff and get some on ebay or put by for the charity shop. I also need to get her a chair and some drawers to go in the wardrobe. I have been looking on FB marketplace but nothing suits.
We have just had our appraisals at work. Mine was pretty good but I do have a great manager who gets the best out of people without micro managing. We should find out at the end of the month if we get a bonus and pay-rise. Fingers crossed.
Hope everyone is safe and well.

So, an interesting day at work. I've mentioned before we've merged with another company and are expanding. I work in the finance team. (Ironic I know when I'm in so much debt)
I have been asked if I want to move teams. It's a sideways move for now but gives scope for future move up the ladder which ultimately what I am studying for. I can't see any negatives to it apart from leaving the team of people I work with. I've never worked in such a close knit team before and my current line manager is the best manager I have ever worked for. This would be a team working on Netherlands, Spain and Italy - we're a global company. When I was originally hired, it was solely to work on the NL and German accounts then moved onto a mix of them and the UK. Apparently I have been recommended because of my knowledge of the Netherlands customers and the teams on site and that I have a working relationship with them already (we own and operate data centres - think of "the cloud"). The manager is based in Amsterdam and the team is spread across Europe so I would be the only UK member of staff. As part of the integration, they want to make sure they have members from both companies in all teams. So all in all, I think I am going to say yes and cross my fingers all works out!

This sounds like a fantastic opportunity and I can only see the fact your being recommended for this as a resounding acknowledgement of how they see you. Go for it if it fits in with how you want to develop1
