Give the guy a chance. Obama failed to deliver on his many promises after 8 years in the office.

but obama got a nobel prize for bringing lasting peace to the middle east after only a few months in office: I wonder if Trump gets one too?

Everything he does is about jobs and prosperity for Americans. The left around the world are going to look inept in his wake. Mainly the left is concerned with virtue grandstanding things that really do not matter much to people's daily lives.

Being forced to pay more for what are political reasons wouldn't exactly improve my happiness quotient.

I don't feel forced, I like supporting fellow citizens. I don't need lefty Govts to make me contribute more by force

We already did - It fell far short of his rhetoric:

Can you provide any evidence for that?

Well why would you? For a start you aren't American and secondly you reckon the source of the product only affects company margin rather than ticket price.

Not sure protectionism is a preserve of the left either.

Well you could start with looking at who he's appointing to his cabinet - in the main very successful business people and deal makers.

He's also looking to replace many Diplomats (most have never been in business) with deal makers and business people.

Thirdly, he's highly likely to walk away from GW initiatives and put American jobs first by having a renaissance of fossil fuels

Fairly compelling evidence his focus is on prosperity and jobs

Not really, he's hired a cabinet of billionaires (who presumably got to be rich by screwing over the normal guys), but he's not done anything yet to help the normal guys or boost jobs.

Incidentally, he seems to be assembling the absolute worst cabinet possible (people who thing gobal warming and vaccinations are scams).

He seems to just be hiring his buddies to roles rather than looking for anyone qualified. I mean, his son-in-law might be the best candidate for chief advisor, but what are the odds of that happening?

My Chinese colleagues also think that green policy should sit behind economic policy, so where's the difference?

India has no intention of reducing emissions in the next decade. Did they assemble the worst possible cabinet too?

The point is, do we place our citizens economic needs right now above all else? Trump says yes, and I agree.

A 0.5% temperature rise in 50 years time does not trump the need of citizens to enjoy a good job and dignity now.

Quite plainly why should an unemployed coal miner in Pennsylvania care if water levels rise in Bangladesh? He might even welcome crop growing further north thanks to temperature rise? He might think it's up to Bangladesh to build Dutch style flood defences - after all brown people are just as capable as white so it would be rayyyycist to assume they cannot mange their own destiny.

You can cut all fossil fuel emissions tomorrow but given we're adding so many more people to the planet each day, it wont make much difference - meat production, concrete production and masses of other Human activities all generate massive emissions. White middle class people working for charity are committed to global equality, meaning they want everyone to have a western living standard ultimately - and be mass consumers meaning more emssions

    I'd favour a re-greening of the planet
