The USA has a sizable trade deficit. The patriotism goes out the window if you can save a few bucks."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

I merely provided an example to demonstrate your statement was wrong. It's wrong in a broader context too. That's why the US has a large trade deficit - because they like cheap stuff over American produced stuff. If you were correct then Trump wouldn't need his protectionist agenda.
The American Dream (as much as I understand it) is built on a low cost of living. Trump is going to bully, shame and legislate to ensure people to pay more for their stuff.0 -

In your world a mass of people endure undignified non-jobs and no hope, but hey, they pay less for Chinese knickers. An entirely unsustainable model whereby trade deficits grow until they can grow no more. This view is a council of despair and no longer tolerated.
I've argued in Discussion Time for years we all ought to be happy to pay a little more for a better shared society, which means higher wages and better jobs.0 -

It's funny for someone that is so leery of predictions you seem pretty certain that Pres Trump is going to be a rip roaring success based on no evidence whatsoever. As he has never been a politician we have no idea whether he'll be good or bad at it.
I've always wanted to see business people in charge. Career politicians know very little of wider life, that's the point of Trump.
Most everything he does will be to promote American business and workers.0 -
