Unfortunately you can’t make them want to come.  I have 1 young person, my in laws had an only child but we could never get them interested in him at all.  My DH died 4 years ago and there only living relative is my DS but they just aren’t bothered.  I send them an email every few months updating what he’s doing out of a strange sense of duty but there actions speak more than words.

Are school seeing the issues in the playground ? Could you collect her directly from the office to stop it ?

You’re right dawny, I just don’t understand the outlaws not wanting to see their only grandchildren! I think my MIL does want to see them much more often but my FIL rules her and she isn’t allowed much of a life or an opinion on things by all appearances.

I would be perfectly happy not having to associate with them again tbh. DH just gets very frustrated with them. They never want to do the dates we provide them with and I think it’s just more of FIL’s control freak issues. He’s a horrible man.

DD mostly behaves at school and the playground meltdowns are thankfully fairly rare, just epic when they do happen! She definitely holds it together all day then loses it at home/with us when she feels safe.

I had my follow up appointment yesterday for my vein laser treatment and the laser has worked. 👏🏻 The Dr then injected more foam into the veins that were still visible and has said I don’t need to go back unless I want more treatment.

DH & I went out for lunch afterwards to a lovely Indian restaurant and then on a visit to a cat cafe. It was nice to see the cats but was definitely a place run by some odd cat people. 🤣

By the time we got home we’d done about 20,000 steps and my calves were sore after the injections. They felt really tight like they were going to cramp and it was quite uncomfortable for a few hours. Taking paracetamol and getting my feet up helped. Hopefully they will be feeling better today, another 6 days to go in the compression stockings though. 😣

Need to get the bed stripped so I can hang the sheets out on the line whilst it’s dry & sunny. Also need to do cleaning, tidying and hoovering as meant to be having DH’s friend & his OH over tomorrow night for a few drinks.

I’m working late shift on Sunday and then on Monday we’re going to start painting DS’s room (finally!).

Good news the treatment has worked 🥳 I’ve never been in a cat cafe but have heard they’re super strict about not approaching them unless they approach you. Personally I wouldn’t be able to resist stroking them 🤣

Thanks both, compression stockings off now and have some lovely bruises. Hopefully my legs will look a lot better within the next few weeks/months. I definitely have staining from the laser on my left leg following the vein, it looks like a bruise and could take up to a year to fade away.

The cat cafe rules were that you could approach the cats but if they were sleeping then not to touch them. Most of the cats weren't too fussed with the people and didn't come close. They had some sphinx mix kittens and they were very playful and kept jumping onto the tables and trying to steal food. 😂 The staff were mostly fine but definitely more animal people than people people if you see what I mean.

DS is desperate to go to a cat cafe so we've said we'll take him for his birthday but I think we'll try a different one for that. The one DH & I visited would have been a bit disappointing for DS as the cats weren't very friendly.

We finally got DS's room painted and sorted out some shelves and storage for his stuff, particularly his lego. It looks so much better and he's really pleased with it. I also helped DH declutter his room downstairs and we managed to get a lot of stuff thrown out and the rest organised but still have the back half of the room to sort out.

I also need to go through the wardrobes in both DD's room and the spare room as there is a lot to declutter and tidy in there. Hoping to get all of it done soonish and then we can finally look at getting the new carpet organised for the whole of the upstairs.

We are inching closer to paying the holiday balance off, only around £300 to go then just some spending money to save. Just as well as our council tax (combined with water charge) has gone up a lot, basically £350 a month now which is shocking.

DH is away this weekend visiting his friend in Yorkshire so I'm alone with the kids, my mum very kindly picked them up from school on Friday and kept them overnight so I got out to see some friends and had a bit of peace. Of course I couldn't sleep properly on my own in the house and still woke up at half 7 so no lie in either but had a peaceful morning reading and then did some yoga before picking the kids up.

Back at work on Wednesday this week coming but only for two early shifts then off again for a week. I'm getting my hair cut and a facial massage this week so looking forward to both appointments.

Going to try and clean the house today (around the kids) so I can relax tomorrow after dropping the kids off at school and before DH gets home.

That sounds like a good deal dawnybabes, I love getting massages, so relaxing. My skin always looks so much brighter after a proper facial too, although it can get a bit spotty afterwards.

DH got the kids up and organised & took them to school this morning so I could have a lie in, I even got brought a cup of tea. He has started doing this a bit more often as I deal with getting the kids up & organised most of the time. I can’t actually sleep but do appreciate the rest.

DD did come upstairs for a cuddle and to tell me that her dad shouted at her. She is still very lazy at getting dressed and expects us to do it for her. 😂 She is only 5 so we do help her (although she can do it herself, even her tights!). DS was mostly getting himself dressed by her age. I just keep reminding DH that she won’t be asking us to dress her when she’s 16 (I hope!). 🤣

DS came up for 2 cuddles and to tell me that the cat had been sick and his dad was nearly sick cleaning it up. What a shame I missed the cat sick. 🫢

I think I’ve caught a cold from somewhere as my nose is a bit stuffy and I have a bit of a headache. ☹️

Got two washings hung out and dried yesterday which was pleasing. Also did some core & arm strengthening exercises.

Will get up shortly and get my sourdough into the fridge for its cold prove then do some yoga and have breakfast. Getting my hair cut today so will walk there and back to get some extra steps in as well.

I have managed to rehome DS’s teepee tent with my sister for her youngest, just need to get it to her. He never uses it so it’s been folded up for ages, DD loves hers and plays in it all the time.

My SIL is also taking DS’s old light shade and a Peter rabbit collapsible storage box that has never been opened for the new baby.

I have 3 birthdays coming up in the next week (sister and 2 nieces) plus Mother’s day and need to get organised for the kids Easter gifts as well. I like to get them one big chocolate egg and some small chocolates and then a toy or two rather than loads of chocolate.

Lots going on but being rubbish with updates again.

DH & I took a lot of stuff to the dump last week so much less rubbish lying around the house & garden.

The garden needs a lot of work after the terrible winds, I still need to clean up bits of smashed pots and move plants from damaged pots, re-assemble the water butt and get my potatoes planted. I also have some cucumber & tomato seedlings to plant on. Plus weeding etc.

DH & I need to paint our side gate and the fence all around the garden as it’s been a few years and is looking very faded & shabby. We also need at least one post replacing after the wind as one panel is very shaky. Our neighbours are going to pay half.

We then need to empty the shed, move it back to its original position (again moved by the wind by quite a bit), anchor it to stop it moving again and then put everything back in. Hopefully we can get rid of some things too.

I finally emptied the spare room cupboards, it’s still not great in there but I know what’s in there now. We have gotten rid of an old set of drawers (I think I’ve had them for at least 30 years, they came with me when I moved out of my mum’s house!). My mum took a bedside cabinet that we didn’t need as well.

I still need to sort out DD’s wardrobe although it’s not as bad as the spare room. I think I have a lot of clothes that are too small to go from both kids’ drawers & wardrobes.

In money news, the outlaws gave us another random lump of money that they wanted us to pay off the mortgage.

We nodded & agreed then used it for various other things. We have paid off my CC and paid some money off the smaller car loan as it has the highest interest rate and monthly payment. It’s now under £6k and we’d like to try and pay it off by the end of the year. Might be a bit too ambitious but worth a try. Current outstanding debt is just over £17k.

We also got a few things we needed for the house and have our holiday spending money put aside as well.

We met with a lawyer and sorted out our wills as hadn’t done it since getting married and having the kids. We also sorted out power of attorney and guardianship. It’s costing just over £1k for everything so we will have to pay that off in installments as did this after the outlaw money had all been sent to other things. 🤦🏻‍♀️
