Thanks all, the procedure went well but was a bit more uncomfortable than I thought it would be.

The local anaesthetic jags were very stingy going in and it was a horrible feeling with the catheter tube going in for the laser fibre to fed down. A very uncomfortable pulling & tugging sensation. The laser parts were very quick but could feel some burning and got a burnt taste in my mouth each time. 🤢

I’m feeling really sore and bruised and getting up then sitting down again is quite difficult. The compression stockings are fine, a bit itchy but not too bulky. Already looking forward to taking them off next week though. Going to attempt showering with them on later, can’t imagine that will feel nice.

Managed to go for a 5.75km walk last night with my friends, my legs are ok when I’m moving, it’s the stopping and starting that hurts. Definitely feel worse in the mornings.

Back at work tomorrow for one shift then have 4 days off. Glad I don’t have to sit in there for more than one shift with my sore legs.

Going back in 6 weeks for my follow up appointment to check that the laser worked and to have more foam injected if needed.

Making a birthday cake for DH today, kids meant to be helping but suspect I’ll be doing it on my own!

Yes, at least it's done and recovery can start. Hopefully it will get easier as the days go on

Thanks both, out of compression now but my legs are still sore & I have some bruising. The soreness is apparently due to the closed veins shrinking and the body trying to repair them absorb them.

Hopefully it will ease off soon. Showering with the compression stockings wasn’t great but it wasn’t as bad as I thought and they dried quickly with the hairdryer afterwards. I was so glad to get them off, mostly because I was itchy all around the top due to the adhesive bit keeping them up.

Still too sore to attempt a run, will maybe try in another week. My worst thread veins already look better from what I can see under the bruising but my biggest varicose vein doesn’t look much different. Not too concerned as it can take a while for results and will be getting more foam injections at the follow up appointment as well.

Made DH a Victoria sponge for his birthday, the kids were fairly well behaved.

We have now paid three quarters of our holiday off, so just the last £1k plus £500 spending money to save. We have done well so far but it will be good to get it all paid for and then start putting extra money back to the debt.

Have paid another £50 off my 0% CC so now down to £2550.

Thanks jwil, bruising much better but still a couple of big ones following the two veins on my left leg that were lasered. My left leg was the sorer one during the procedure & actually needed more work than the right leg which has much more visible veins especially in my calf.

The discomfort has pretty much gone but haven’t been out for a run yet due to a combination of the kids being off school and DH working early shifts.

Again I really need to focus on meal planning and eating more healthy food. My fruit & veg intake is dire tbh. I have put some weight back on and need to lose 7-10lbs.

I went so far as to look at online personal trainers who give you meal plans as well as exercise and take the thinking out of it. A particular one sounded really good but at £250 pm I don’t think I’ll be doing it!

DH has made a few nice dinners this week, one was a Tuscan chicken pasta and the other a type of Mexican beef mince with rice. Really need to make a note of the recipes we’ve tried & enjoyed so we can make a master list up and just choose from every week to meal plan.

Yesterday I made cheese & onion quiche as had all the ingredients. We had it with sauteed baby potatoes & a salad which was really nice. Added walnuts & pickled shallots to the salad with a lemon and olive oil dressing, it was lovely. There’s enough left over for my lunch today too.

Also made some fruit scones as the kids love them and they’re quick to make. I need to get into more of a routine with making food, the kids will try most things (although I forgot that DS hates quiche).

I have continued making my sourdough bread and generally bake 2 loaves a week. Just need to remember to get the starter out of the fridge & fed and be organised about making it. I can do that so surely I can meal plan.

Need to get some exercise done today, probably a y0utube walking video then some glute strength training. I have been walking & doing some other form of exercise most days, either yoga or strength training.

Also need to do housework and sort out ordering the food shopping delivery. Working lates over the coming weekend, 4 days out of 5 which is tiring and needs a lot of child juggling.

Taking the kids to see the dog man film tomorrow morning as DH is working lates so can come with us.

Joe Wicks and Rick Bhullar have apps where you get a personalised meal and exercise plans for a lot less than £250 a month if you’re thinking of going down that route.

I enjoy meal planning but it takes time to get into the habit of it. Worthwhile in the end though.

I’m very envious of your kids trying lots of different foods. Mine are so fussy it’s painful!

SA, we used to meal plan years ago but haven’t really stuck to it since having the kids. It definitely helped to keep costs & waste down.

I have ordered a new cookbook with high protein/low calorie meals. I have used some of the recipes from her insta and they are generally tasty. I used a £10 voucher from surveys so it only cost £1 after that.

I have been looking around and there seem to be a lot of options in regards to apps/programmes for exercise and meal plans. The vast majority are much cheaper than £250 pm!

FitOn pro looks decent and only £38.99 for the year. 🤔 Worth a think.

Jwil when I say the kids will try things, DS will complain & say it looks disgusting but will generally at least try one bite. DD is like a bin and will try almost anything!

Kids were good at the cinema although it was busy as all the nearby schools were off. Monday is also their cheap day, all tickets £4.99 or a family ticket (2 adults,2 kids or 1 adult, 3 kids) for £19.96. Although we booked online and they charge a £1 booking fee per person, so £4 extra which was very cheeky.

The refreshment/food area had a huge queue as only 2 staff serving and everyone trying to get popcorn etc for their kids before the film. We forgot to bring drinks with us and it cost nearly £7 for 2 small bottles of juice - totally shocking.

I wish we hadn’t bothered! Wasn’t even like we got them the fancy slushy type drinks or anything either! At least the cost of it all is covered by the family entertainment fund.

Took DH’s car for its MOT & service today, passed the MOT but needs a new rear tyre as a nail stuck in it that has shredded it. We always seem to need new tyres. Not sure how much it’s all going to cost yet. Only have £400 left in the car fund after my car’s MOT, service & road tax last month.
