That's massive progress. It's hard when you add to your debt as it feels like you've not made progress but your pay off figure is huge. XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.

Thanks all, the money paid off the debts did include £5k of the money gifted to us by the outlaws which we paid off the new car loan as it has the highest interest rate. I would be delighted if we managed to pay off £16k this year, we can only try! I have paid another £20 off my 0% CT so it's now at £2880.
DH is looking to build a small desk for me in his room so that I can get my own PC again, I've not had one since before DS was born and miss having one to play games on. We used to play a few online games together and would like to do it again. Obviously we will need to save up for the computer parts (DH will build one), chair annd accessories as well. I won a £75 voucher in a work competition before christmas so will use that towards a new monitor. DH would also like a new TV but it's not a priority and will be more than likely the last thing we get this year.
We need to paint DS's room and get some shelving put in there (mostly for lego model storage), then new carpets upstairs and paint the fence & side gate outside. These will be our first priorities house wise.
I managed to get the utility room cleaned and tidied up, it had been a bit of a dumping ground again and had lots of paint brushes etc lying about. I had to scrub the sink with a steel scourer to get the paint stains off the sink, managed most but not all. Also tidied the shelf, cupboard and baskets so there is less lying around. It looks so much better that I keep going to look at it. 😂 The rest of the house is passable but not great tidiness wise. I did give everywhere a quick clean and tidy the other day. Yesterday I took down the Christmas tree and decorations and packed them all away, DH did the outside lights.
I mentioned that we bought new suitcases for our holiday, we got medium suitcases for DH & I and cabin size ones for the kids as we're only going away for a week. There was an offer so it was £45 each for the medium sizes and £35 for the small ones and we used some Christmas money to pay for them. 👍
It has gotten cold again here and a lot of black ice about, I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere this weekend. We took the kids to see Paddington on Hogmanay morning and the cinema was really quiet. The kids really enjoyed it and then we went to the toy shop as they wanted to spend some of their Christmas money. DS bought a lego set he had asked for but not got for Christmas so he was happy. DD didn't know where to look and changed her mind a hundred times before settling on a baby doll in a rocking crib (thankfully small and reasonably priced). We had a nice afternoon/evening watching films together and DS stayed up for the bells (he was nearly asleep then hyper then falling asleep again). DD was sent to bed at 9pm as she wouldn't have lasted until midnight and gets really angry when she's tired.
DD's moods have been extreme and she has started biting again when she's angry. 🤦♀️ She bit my arm really hard when we were at our friend's house the other day and she was fighting with DS over sitting on a couch and I told her to stop. 🤦♀️ I have a really bad bruise from it, she's impossible and just doesn't listen. I don't know what to do with her, nothing seems to work. When she's good and things are going her way she's excellent but when she's bad she's awful. 😩Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Is it worth speaking to school or GP about DD? School did a fair amount of work with little miss on managing her emotions and when she was angry. Is she the same there? They might be able to suggest something."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1

We already spoke to the health visitor about DD’s anger last year and nothing really came from it apart from one support visit and being given a few leaflets on how to help kids manage their emotions.Nursery already did a lot of talking about emotions with DD. She has been pretty good at school (as far as I know) apart from hitting another girl a few times. This was only brought up at parents night and the teacher didn’t seem concerned.I don’t think she’s as bad with anyone as she is with us and my mum. Sometimes she’s an absolute dream and she’s very clever, she’s just very strong willed. I’m not sure if it’s just her character/something she’ll grow out of or if something is wrong. My mum of course is adamant there’s something wrong with her! 🙄Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. DH & I were pricing up a PC for me last night, safe to say it’s going to be a while before I have one up and running!
I think we’ll try to buy bits as we go along, maybe starting with a case and then each component as & when we have the cash.I ended up using the voucher I won from work to buy a wireless mouse. DH has an old keyboard I can use so won’t need one of those.I think it will be nearer the end of the year before we get it all sorted but there’s no mad rush.
We’ve ordered some paint testers for DS’s room so hopefully we can choose one and get the paint bought for that.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Feeling very drained this week as worked 4 late shifts together and was juggling the kids and house with DH and just didn't sleep well at all. Had a hot stone back massage and facial yesterday which was lovely and nearly sent me to sleep. Today I'm going to get my hair cut and am going for a walk with my friends about tea time.
MIL is arriving tonight for a weekend visit, thankfully no FIL, she is usually better behaved when he's not around. No doubt she'll have some sort of bee in her bonnet about things we're doing but to be honest my mum is the same at times.
I was meant to be going to get the laser ablation done on my varicose veins tomorrow but the appointment was cancelled on Monday as the consultant has had to take time off work for personal reasons and they don't know when she'll be back. Feeling quite disappointed about it as I had worked myself up for it being done this week. I have rescheduled for 2 weeks' time with another consultant, hopefully he'll be as good as the previous Dr. I've had to put in for a day off work though which is annoying, hopefully I'll get it as I don't want to wait any longer than I need to.
Have managed to pay another £30 off the 0% CT so down to £2850 and we are also another quarter of the way towards paying off the holiday.
My car had its MOT & service yesterday which cost £268, thankfully nothing wrong with the car but it needed a bigger service than we expected so a bit dearer. We have money saved to pay for this but also have my car tax due this month (£190 for the year!) and DH's MOT & service are due next month. We think we'll probably be £100-£150 short of what we need for DH's MOT & service. We can either use council tax free month money or the emergency fund for this. We have decided to up the DD for the car savings that comes out of our pay every 4 weeks from £60 to £80 so we can try to avoid having a shortfall again next year.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
