Thanks both, will see what happens, if I did get the job I'd also have a longer commute so not sure if it would be worth it. There are pros and cons for both getting the new job or staying where I am until the kids are older.
DH & I were planning on taking the kids bowling today, of course DD has come down with a bug and was up coughing most of the night. 😩 She was also sick and now has a temp and is refusing to eat so I don't think she'll be well enough for school tomorrow either. At least she should be better by the time we go to York and fingers crossed DS doesn't catch it.
DH has taken DS out to the arcade part of the bowling alley as he was really upset that we couldn't go. We've promised to take them bowling next week instead.
Made some coconut lentil/chickpea soup yesterday and it's nice and filling. My next lot of sourdough is proving and will be going into the fridge shortly. I'll probably bake it tomorrow.
One washing put away, another hung up and another in the machine. I also got rid of another bag of clothes in a charity bag, I have a few things I should put on V*nted but can't face it right now.
Have done quite well with the christmas shopping, would say I'm halfway there although not much bought for DH yet. I'm aiming for 5 main presents for the kids each plus an annual, a stocking with bath stuff & sweets and a December box on the 1st which has christmas pjs, cosy socks, chocolate and a small toy each in it. I might buy a board game for us all to play as well, although DD usually stomps off in a huff and DS gets bored so it's me and DH playing by ourselves. 😂 The only exceptions to this so far have been pop up pirate and jenga which the kids love. I'm considering hungry hippos or windy knickers as the kids keep asking for that one. 🤷♀️ 😂
Have had to buy quite a few things for the kids clothes wise recently, DD has already trashed one pair of school tights and prefers cardigans to jumpers for school so I had to buy more of each. I also got more skirts for her and more school trousers for DS so we're not running out of uniform if the washing falls behind (easily done). They both should have enough joggers/leggings and long sleeved tops to do them over winter although I'd like a nicer jacket for DD for parties etc as her current faux fur one is getting too small. I'm looking on v*nted for that though so it shouldn't be too pricey.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Well I didn’t even get to interview stage for the new job I applied for. Quite disappointing really as I spent a lot of time on the application.
My company can be very cliquey though so I wouldn’t be surprised if they already had someone lined up for the job. To not even get an interview is pretty crap though.
Had a nice weekend in York with DH although found it so expensive eating out. We were really glad that breakfast was included in our room rate and that we had saved a decent amount of spending money.
DD had another sickness bug while we were away so is on her second day off school today. She’s much better so will be going back tomorrow!
DS had a screaming meltdown last night before he was tired and angry that we’d went away without him. 🤦🏻♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.1 -
Sorry to hear about the job, keep trying though. I think it's not unusual that there's already an internal candidate lined up.

Sorry to read you didn’t get through to interview stage ☹️ I’ve recently been involved with sifting applications and interviewing for my organisation so know how difficult it is to get through. Don’t be put off if another opportunity arises.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks both, I doubt another suitable job will appear any time soon, my company really don’t like job shares and will try to avoid creating them if they possibly can.Just annoyed that I wasted the time applying. It’s very much who you know a lot of the time in my company rather than suitability for the job but obviously my application wasn’t very good anyway as didn’t even get through to interview. 🤷🏻♀️I really can’t work full time right now due to the kids ages and DH’s shifts which are all over the place so I’m stuck where I am.It is what it is and I don’t want to get upset about it, it’s just a job it’s not my whole life. I just feel a bit rubbish about it but will get over it.
I do feel a bit judged as I’ve worked in my department for a long time and haven’t “progressed”. I’m regarded as part of the furniture and probably a bit thick or lazy as I’m still there. DH has had quite a few comments (as we work for the same company in different departments) saying I should do the same job as him as though my job isn’t good enough - he does earn a lot more than me.But a) I don’t want to do his job, b) I don’t think I would be capable anyway! and c) there’s no way we could juggle 2 sets of insane constantly changing shifts with 2 young kids. We’d never see each other or the kids either probably. The cats would have to bring them up! 🤣Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. My friend job shares and she found a job share partner to apply for full time jobs with (rather than waiting for half a job share post to come up if that makes sense) - would that be an option to explore at all?Or could you consider other roles which are part time, maybe not in your existing company? You don’t necessarily need to job share to get child friendly hours, I work 32 hours a week over 5 days and finish at 3pm each day to pick up my kids - means every evening I have time to help with homework, take the kids to the park after school, make a healthy dinner and the daily housework rather than rushing home for 6pm each day, but I’m nearly paid as much as a full time employee. I don’t take a full lunch break which is part of what allows me to finish at 3.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018

It's hard when you have to face that. We advertised a job and interviews were today with an internal candidate who was already doing the job. I don't even have to ask who got the job. I just wish they wouldn't waste other people's time or advertise. I know it's a legal requirement, but it really isn't fair.
Hope you're OK xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

Thanks guys, my job is fine and I am paid fairly well for a job share so it could be a lot worse, it’s just boring a lot of the time.
I don’t want to leave the company/industry I’m in as the pay, benefits & pension are quite good and I don’t really want to work a traditional Mon-Fri 9-5 as I would very rarely see DH then. He works 3 weekends out of 4 so a lot of the time we only spend time together during the week.Money wise obviously it would be nice to have a full time wage and we could pay the debts off quicker but we’re actually doing really well now that we’re budgeting properly. We do need to focus on the debt a bit more but there’s always something needing done in the house. Still not painted DD’s room although we have the paint! After that’s done it’s just DS’s room and a quick touch up of the gloss then we can finally get new carpet on the stairs, landing & bedrooms. It’s over 10 years old, desperately needs doing & we have the money ready.I have also made an appointment at a private clinic to get an ultrasound on my legs for my varicose veins. They are really painful & unsightly but they’re deemed as cosmetic by the NHS.The ultrasound costs £250 and then the consultant can tell me what treatment would be needed and how much it will cost. I have some money saved towards this (roughly about one third of what I think it will cost). At least I will know the full cost after this though and can consider it with all the facts.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
