  • re the running stuff/hip issue random question here but are you using standard trainers shoes or something abit more running specific.

I dont run but used to a lot in my husky racing days I started having achilles issues/ I took the time to go to a proper running shop and upgraded my adidas trainers to some soft and squidgy Inov8's best thing and best 80 quid i ever spend.

Beanie, yes at least it’s over and hopefully not to be repeated anytime soon.

Scott, yes I have a couple of pairs of running trainers but haven’t had a gait analysis, I was thinking it might be a good idea the next time I’m buying running shoes. 🤔 It might help with my hip pain.

Speaking of hip pain I went for 2 runs last week - after the first one my whole body was sore for days and since the second one my hip and ankle have been really hurting. 🙁 The break from running seems to have made it worse rather than better. 😭 I’m so fed up as I really enjoyed my runs apart from the pain afterwards. 😩

I have bought myself a tens machine to see if that helps as it’s been so sore.

I’ve had to send DD’s school shoes back for a refund as they were getting holes in them after 3 weeks! Have bought her some boots which scanned through at £8 instead of £17 so hoping they last a bit longer. And of course the weather has went warm & sunny again so she could actually do with some shoes or trainers for school. 🤦🏻‍♀️

DS also needs his shoes replaced, I don’t know why they are wearing out so quickly. I don’t want to spend loads on shoes they will wreck and/or grow out of quickly but I also don’t want to be buying multiple cheap pairs that hardly last a month.

DS needs new trousers/joggy bottoms and DD also needs trousers and long sleeved tops. She’s so tall that she needs age 6-7 in most things and she’s 5 next month.

I need to go through all their clothes and get rid of the too small things and also need to go through all my clothes as I still have too many.

DD is off school again as woke us up at half 4 this morning with a sore stomach and runny bum then was sick. 😩 I don’t know why she isn’t getting over this, it’s been nearly 2 weeks on and off.

  • When my DS started school, I bought cheap shoes once and they were wrecked within weeks. Since I’ve always bought more expensive school shoes (usually from M&S) and they have lasted the full year. I find they don’t outgrow them so quickly as they get older luckily and they definitely seem much sturdier than the cheap supermarket shoes.

What distance did you run?? I would literally back everything right off, you dont need a gait analysis just shoes that aren't too stiff that fit right yadda yadda

Give yourself 4-5 days rest and your next run do minimal distance, no hills etc even if you just run half to 3/4 a mile.

Bluegreen, I’m going to look at the Clarks outlet or M&S for school shoes. I just have a feeling that I’ll buy more expensive shoes and their feet will grow immediately afterwards. 😂

Scott, I ran 5km both times, it was actually run/walk/run so not full on running the whole time. I think I overdid it a bit because I was excited to get back out. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Last run was Saturday and my hip and ankle are still hurting. 🙁

DD is off school again today, she was having stomach cramps and back on the toilet about half 5 this morning. 🙁 Took her to the doctors and not much they can do, just to get a sample for them (parenthood is so glamorous) and keep her hydrated.

I went for a facial massage today and it was lovely, I particularly enjoyed the heated blanket on the treatment bed and it really helped my hip and ankle pain. Now contemplating a heated throw for the house.

Got the washing hung out as it’s another dry day, warm and sunny now but colder this morning. I wore my new pink coat on the school run and am very pleased with it for £8 from v*nted! It’s cosy without being too warm and has proper pockets. 🙂

I have ordered a pair of school shoes for DS from M&S, have opted for a half size bigger as I feel like his toes are very near the top of his current pair. DD went back to school on Friday as the constant diarrhoea stopped and she slept through the night without having stomach cramps. I'll still hand in her samples next week just in case.

Have also had to order more joggers for DS in a bigger size as his legs are getting longer so has several pairs that are too short, he also needs some long sleeved tops, DD probably will need these too as she's so tall for her age. Actually she will probably need trainers as well soon. 😩

Have managed to get another few washings hung out and dried over the last few days as it's stayed dry. I managed to get the couches hoovered and the floor cleaned downstairs today and did the bathrooms and stairs yesterday, DH hoovered the bedrooms before going to work.

I've been in agony with my hip and ankle and definitely not able to run, the tens machine has helped a bit and have been using it every day. Feeling a bit better today so hopefully getting back to normal (just a constant ache rather than agony every time I move). I might try a shorter run/walk/run tomorrow if it's feeling more normal and see how that goes. Have been doing my physio exercises, core strengthening and yoga for most of the week.

DH & I have managed to save for & pay off the hotel and train tickets for our trip to York in November and have £120 saved towards spending money so far. Pleased with that and looking forward to it, hoping to save another few hundred so we can have some nice lunches & dinners out.

We're also heading out for dinner in a couple of weeks with DH's friend and his OH (the one who is less than keen on us). No idea how that will go, it was nearly a year ago that we had them over for dinner and felt it had went ok albeit with some weird vibes. We had no return invitation, even just to go out for drinks, so think it's fair enough to say she's not that into us. We both get on with DH's friend though so DH organised this dinner out as one last attempt to be friendly. I don't see it going anywhere, will be more oh yes let's do it again and we'll never hear from her again. 🙄 😂 If that's the case we're happy enough to hang out with DH's friend on his own - DH will usually go out with him and then they come back to ours for a few drinks. Would be nice to have couple friends that are more local to us.

We're going out for lunch with my family tomorrow as my sister has 4 kids with birthdays all within 5 weeks of each other and 2 are 16 and 1 is 18 this year. 🤦‍♀️ There will be something like 18 of us there including the kids so a busy lunch!

DS has been going out to play with the kids in the street for an hour at a time a few times a week and has one boy that he gets on very well with. DS came storming in the other night with a bright red face and obviously upset but wouldn't tell me what was wrong. The wee boy came to the door about half an hour later with his mum to say sorry for leaving my DS out when a bigger boy told him to. The same bigger boys had been throwing things at the girls and barricading them out of the little play park as well earlier and DS had refused to join in because it was wrong. So obviously he was the next target.

I know the other wee boy's mum as we went to school together and she said he was crying and felt bad about leaving my DS out and wanted to say sorry. DS didn't want to listen at first but once he calmed down they had a big hug and all forgotten. 😂 I'm glad my DS felt confident enough to stand up to the other boys when they were being horrible to the girls but felt sorry for him getting his feelings hurt and being embarrassed by the bigger boys. 😔

  • That takes a lot of guts to do that. You must be really proud of him.

That does sound like a busy lunch!

Aw your DS is a lovely lad bless him ❤️ I hope your hip and ankle pain eases, it sounds awful. I need to do more yoga, I do so much walking my feet and legs are stiff as boards.
