It's a lovely sunny day today but cold, it was icy again this morning. Luckily I don't need to go out until later, poor DH was up at 5am for work this morning. I'm going to go for my next run when he gets home from work today, my knees didn't hurt as much after my last run but I still wanted to have a 2 day rest period between runs. I've been continuing the knee strengthening exercises and tried a knee support on my more dodgy knee but unsure if it helped or not. I tried to slow down my run (not that I run very fast anyway 😂) and avoid hills where possible. It's pretty hard to avoid hills actually as I live on top of one 😂 and even places I think are flat still have a gradient. Looking forward to my run today as it will be cool but sunny, my last run was quite windy but it helped cool me down.
DD is still not sleeping properly, she slept through for the first time in nearly a week the other night but was still up crying at 6am. Last night/this morning it was 3.30am. 😢 She did fall asleep in between us (doing well at not letting her in our bed 😂) so it wasn't as bad as previous nights where she was just messing about. She was really happy at bedtime though and more like her usual self so hopefully she'll get back into her normal sleep pattern soon. 😩 I'm back at work for 2 late shifts from Wednesday so fingers crossed that doesn't mess it up either as DH will be doing bedtime rather than me.
We took the kids out for brunch yesterday and they really enjoyed it, they both had pancakes with nutella and fruit so they were very pleased. DD only managed one pancake as they were big but DS managed one and a half and DH helped them out to finish them off. 😂 DH had poached eggs on sourdough toast with Stornoway black pudding and it was lovely, Stornoway black pudding is the only one I like, so tasty. I had waffles with bacon and maple syrup, it was ok but not amazing. DH said his food was good but the coffee was vile and it cost nearly £60 including the tip. No wonder we rarely go out for breakfast/brunch!
I got 2 washings hung out on the line yesterday so avoided using the heated airer, 1 washing dried and the other was 80% dry so hung it up inside to dry overnight. DH covered up the patio table and chairs, stored away the parasol, moved the kids tower/slide over beside the house to hopefully protect it from the wind and cut the grass.
Today I haven't done much apart from get a loaf started in the bread machine, fed the christmas cakes and started the shredding pile. I did the morning clean of the litter tray and changed the filter on the cat water fountain as well.
Kids are back to school and nursery tomorrow so going to go swimming with DH after he finishes work and I also need to collect some orders in the morning. DS has asked for a darth vader costume for halloween, arg*s had one for £12 and I have ordered some grinch pjs for the kids for their December box from Mr A. Also want to have a quick look in home bargns and BnM at their christmas stuff and need some cleaning products and toiletries too.

I thought so too Beanie but I suppose the kids had adult portions and they were all £9-£10 each plus drinks and DH bought DD a halloween cake she asked for at the counter too. We don't do it very regularly which is just as well at that price!
DD slept through the night until half 7 yesterday and through to half 5 this morning, hopefully she will keep sleeping through now and maybe drop the 5:30 wake ups as well. DH & I are both exhausted with the broken sleep on top of shifts. 😴
DD had her nursery photos this week - except she didn't get any photos taken. 😖 DS was brought along to the nursery to have a photo taken with his sister then apparently had a meltdown and refused to do it. So nursery said DD would get an individual photo the next day, DD then refused to have her photo taken. 🤦♀️ So no nursery photo at all for DD which is disappointing as she didn't get one last year as she started after the photos had been done.
I have done 2 runs this week, having 2 rest days between them definitely helps my knees and I have bought a much better knee support. I'm also struggling with a sore varicose vein in my other leg - got that after years of standing & working in shops then it got much worse with my pregnancies. 😞 I have ordered a compression sleeve to see if that helps as it's quite achey. Next run will be on Sunday morning before my late shift at work.
Went swimming with DH on Wednesday morning, we had a bad night with DD and DH didn't want to go as he was tired but I forced him. We both felt a lot better for it. 😊
Today I have hoovered the couches, the stairs and the upstairs rooms plus cleaned the floors downstairs, put away one washing and hung another one up. I'm just going to relax on the couch for a while before going to get the kids.
My smallest CC is now at £500 so I'm hoping to pay it off before the end of the year, DH has a few things to sell and has said he will give me money towards it as well. Thanks Beanie, I'm doing quite well on surveys so will hopefully have more money to pay off the CC balance soon.
DD still playing up on the sleep front, the last 2 nights she has went to sleep nicely as long as I stay with her but is still waking in the night and throwing epic tantrums if we don't let her come into bed with us. She slept through until half 4 this morning but the night before she was up at half 1 then again at 5am. DH & I are both exhausted and don't know what to do with her. 😩 I'm hoping to at least get her sleeping consistently through to nearer 6am as that would give us a decent stretch of sleep.
I have ordered a new nightlight as she currently has a salt lamp and I think it might be too bright. Also wondering if she might have worms or some sort of infection, I think we'll need to see a doctor if she keeps waking so much.
I'm now on week 4 of C25K, did the first run today but it was a real struggle and I really had to force myself to do it. I found the 5 min runs really difficult and my knee was hurting a lot. 😭 Was really arguing with myself to keep going and feeling the self doubt, I don't know if I can do it and am worried my knee is getting worse. I don't want to give up but don't want to injure myself, I'm giving myself at least 2 rest days between runs but think this time my knee hadn't recovered enough.
My last 2 runs were also in very heavy rain which was strangely enjoyable apart from squishing home in soaked through trainers. I also got a lovely cold shower when a van went through a massive puddle right next to me and a mini one today with a bus going through a puddle!!
Went swimming on Monday with DH and managed okay, I'm still very slow though. Hoping to go swimming again tomorrow morning then need to get some housework done before school pick up.
It was a lovely dry day yesterday so I managed to get three washings hung out on the line, two dried as it was windy and the third was half dry so I hung it up on the heated airer and finished it off over a couple of hours.
There were loads of kids out rampaging through my estate last night, they don't come to the door though as we don't decorate the house. I also don't take the kids trick or treating as it's just not something I like doing. My sister brought her grandson round and he was playing with the kids. DS loves his darth vader outfit and has worn it every day for the last 3 days. 😂
We're taking the kids to the botanic gardens on Friday for a ghostbusters themed light trail type thing, you also get to toast marshmallows afterwards. My mum is coming with us as well and we're going for an early dinner beforehand. I think the kids are going to enjoy the train and going on the underground just as much as the lights. 😂 I'm working early shift on Fri/Sat so will most likely be even more exhausted by then.
On Sunday DH & I have a wee night away in Edinburgh which we are really looking forward to, we have booked our dinner at a Middle Eastern/Lebanese restaurant which will be a nice change as well. We're planning on heading through earlier so we can have our lunch out then check in and relax before our dinner. It will be nice to have a conversation without being interrupted a million times by the kids and nice to have a full night's sleep!!

Running is well known for being hard on your knees. I know a few people who’ve had to give it up.Enjoy your break away 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Enjoy your break!
We found the Gro Clock brilliant for helping the kids to sleep more. The stars gradually go down so they know better when it is night and how long it is til morning. Then when the sun comes up they know they can get up."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1 -
Enjoy your much deserved break and I really hope DD's sleep sorts itself soon, having been there until quite recently with my DS2 I can appreciate how hard it is x2

Thanks all, we had a lovely day/night away although we were quite shocked by how expensive it is going out for lunch, dinner and drinks. 😱 We were very glad we had saved up spending money as it covered everything (just!). The hotel was lovely and our room had a working fireplace so it was nice and cosy. Being old these days we were back in the room for 8pm 😂 Our middle eastern dinner was lovely and a nice change. It was also lovely to sleep through the night.
DD has been sleeping a bit better but still waking up most nights. 😢 The last 2 nights she has actually slept through until at least 7am but she was in a foul mood this morning and screamed the place down because I wouldn't tickle her knee. 🤷♀️ DH wasn't happy as it was his last half hour in bed before getting up for work. So I've been up with the demon child since 7, could be worse but it's just "mum mum mum mum muuuuuuuuuum" every 2 seconds which gets rather wearing. 🙄 She was also off nursery on Friday with a high temp and DH was at work so I had to drag her down to school to take DS in and she was screaming and moaning the whole way. She is really getting on my last nerve some days. 😖
The light trail we took the kids to the other week was good but it was really stressful. 😩 DD was playing up in the restaurant crying and tantruming then kept asking to go to the toilet but she just wanted to go down the stairs and look around! She only used the toilet when we bribed her with an ice cream. 🤦♀️ Not that it helped because she wet herself halfway around the light trail when we were ages away from any toilets. She even soaked her shoes. 😩 I had a change of pants, socks and trousers for her but not shoes. Took ages to get to a toilet and then had to fight with her in a portaloo to get her changed!! DS was also terrified halfway through because he was scared of the creepy pumpkin scarecrows that had flaming torches around them and he was also desperate for a pee. 🤦♀️ My mum also spent the whole night moaning and I was just in FML mode and DH was ready to run away. So it was basically hideous, DH and I have agreed not to take the kids back until they're older and just go on our own next time. 😂
I have been for another 2 runs but have just decided to have more rest days in between them, at least 3 but more if needed. I'm also trying to run on grass as well as pavements as it's a bit easier on the knees and my poor pelvic floor which also doesn't like the impact, it's causing stress incontinence which is horrible. I'm going back to the pelvic floor physio in a couple of weeks as I feel like my slight prolapse has gotten worse, I'm worried it's the running that's done it but don't want to give up as I'm actually enjoying it. The physio follow up appointment is costing £65 for 45 mins. 😱 and the first one was £85 in May. I've not even had any indication of when I will get my NHS appointment with the pelvic floor physios and I was referred 6 months ago after waiting over a year to speak to a gynaecologist over the phone! No one in the NHS has physically examined me and the whole thing is a joke.
We were also at the dentist last week and our 6 monthly check ups have now been reduced to an annual check, even the kids! A 2 minute check once a year!
DH & I are going to change our swimming only membership to include the gym, if we go for the light version it's only £6 more p/m each and means we can use the gym until 5:30pm every day, get classes included and use the pool. I'd like to try running on the treadmill to see if it helps my knees/pelvic floor issues and could also be a good alternative if it's too slippy to run outside. Yesterday some of the pavements were still a bit icy in the afternoon and I had to be careful so I didn't fall. I'd like to try yoga and pilates classes at the gym as well as I could go in the morning or afternoon when the kids are at school and nursery.
I have paid £30 survey money off my smallest CC plus the £120 we're now paying every payday so it's down to £350. I'm due some more survey money soon so hoping to pay another £30 off. I did have another £35 but put that towards my physio appointment.
So far today I have put one washing away, one washing on and hung another one up. I got 2 washings hung out yesterday and only had to finish 1 off on the heated airer for a couple of hours.
We also went to my brother's house warming yesterday and saw some of my aunts, uncles and cousins which was nice. The kids enjoyed playing with their cousins and didn't want to leave. DD was a screaming nightmare as usual when we left but fell asleep pretty quickly for a change instead of me having to lie in bed with her for 45 mins tickling her back or knee. 🙄 My mum wasn't feeling well so didn't go, she was ill during the week as well when DH & I were both working early shift and she was taking the kids to school. So I had to leave work and come home to take her home and take the kids to school then go back to work. The next day I had to ask to start work 3 and a half hours late so I could get the kids to school. 😐 Luckily my work were fine and I'm in a job were it's possible to do that, in a lot of roles I wouldn't have been able to. It does make me worried though as if my mum were to get seriously ill I wouldn't be able to work the shifts I do as we just wouldn't have the child care. 😞
