Thanks Beanie, it was a good night and nice to see a few of the retired people who also came along to our shift night out. It started snowing on my way home about half 11 and was lying pretty quickly. It's not very deep but a decent amount so the kids were happy out playing in it.

My mum had a nightmare with DD refusing to go to bed last night and screaming and hitting her, so now she's saying she won't keep her overnight anymore. So that's great. 😞 DD has got a foul temper and has been kicking off a lot again recently but my mum is basically saying it's not normal. I think it's a phase, she's always had a temper and been a hitter but it comes and goes. She can behave and stop the hitting so it's not something she can't control. 🤷‍♀️ I don't know. We have an appointment with the health visitor in a couple of weeks for her pre-school check so will speak to her about it as well. My mum also keeps insinuating that we're ignoring DS and letting DD bully him!

So DH & I have been on a bit of a downer today as we don't really know what to do and don't have any other childcare due to our shifts. I also need my mum to pick the kids up again on Monday as I have my pelvic physio appointment in the afternoon and won't get back in time to collect the kids. If I cancel now then I still have to pay the full price. 😩 She will only have them for a couple of hours though and then not again until the following Sunday. Again that will only be for a few hours as I'm late shift and DH is night shift, DH will get the kids to bed before my mum comes over so all she needs to do is physically be there.

My mum is being very negative about everything just now and still isn't feeling well so I think that's made her more annoyed with DD as well. She complains about being bored and wanting to lose weight but never actually does anything about either. She has watched the kids a lot for us in the last month so we could socialise/have a break, we're only going to ask her to watch them when we're working now and hope she gets over her strop. She complains when we ask her to watch the kids too often but then complains when she doesn't see them so she's never happy. And I know she's been moaning about me to my sister. 🙄

Went for my run on Thursday, was actually enjoying it towards the end of the first 10 mins but again struggled with stopping to walk then starting to run again. Next few runs are 25 min continuous ones, was hoping to go tomorrow but obviously depends on the snow/ice and if it's safe to run.

I'm on annual leave from work this week so hoping to get our bedroom painted and maybe go for lunch with DH when the kids are at school & nursery.

    Sorry about the childcare.
It’s hard when they are wee.

  • Oh it's so hard juggling the childcare, must be even more difficult with the shifts you & your DH work. My MIL wouldn't have my boys with DS2 being a nightmare at bedtime and then constantly waking up really early too. They're very aware that their cousins stay there quite often and they don't so the worry is now they don't feel as welcome there (which in fairness they're not). Families!  :s

Hope your Mum comes around x

Thanks all, why are families so difficult?! Monday nearly turned into a disaster as I went into town for my physio appointment and my mum then messaged saying she was ill and couldn't pick the kids up! 😠 If I cancelled the appointment I would lose £65 so obviously didn't want to do that. 😞 DH couldn't get away from work early and my sister couldn't get the kids either. I decided to go to the appointment and worked out that as long as the 2 trains I had to get ran on time and I jumped in a taxi from the station I would only be 10 mins late for pick up. I got to my appointment 10 mins early and the physio saw me early which meant I managed to get earlier trains and made it back on time for the kids.

I was really stressed out and quite angry with my mum as I had only made the appointment at that time as she said she would get the kids. I know she couldn't help not being well but it seems to be her excuse for everything just now. 😖 Anyway karma got me for moaning about my mum as I got some kind of sickness bug and was awake 2:30am-5:30am puking yesterday morning. 😩 DH was early shift so I had to drag myself up and get the kids sorted and out to nursery & school. I spent the rest of the day in bed but stopped being sick thankfully. DH got away early to collect the kids as he basically told his work he was leaving at 2pm whether they liked it or not as I was ill.

Feeling a lot better today although still tired and a bit sore. Mostly rested apart from doing some washing and made myself some lentil soup as had a craving for it. I also got my christmas cakes covered in marzipan so will leave them to dry out for a couple of days and then get the icing on them.

Plan for tomorrow is to go for a run if I'm feeling ok then hoover the couches and clean the bathrooms. Will get DH to clean the floors since he's off as well. Will obviously have washing to put away and washing to hang up as usual.

My physio appointment went really well, the physio was pleased with my progress and said my pelvic floor strength has definitely improved since my first visit in May. She was very supportive of my running and gave me some more exercises to work on strengthening my pelvic floor, more specifically focused on the damage caused by big babies and a forceps delivery - one side is a bit wonky really and much more noticeable in kind of squat motions, so that's what I need to work on.

I'm glad I went back for the follow up and feel it was £65 well spent. I still haven't even heard where I am on the NHS waiting list and that's since the end of May. 🤨 I'm just so glad that we could (just about) afford for me to see a pelvic floor physio privately.

Doubt I'm going to get my bedroom painted this week after all but even if I could get the ceiling done it would be a start.

Yes Beanie, they really are worth the money, between my women's health physio and the chiropractor they have pretty much been repairing all the damage caused by having two big babies!

In good money news I have paid off CC2 so we will be 2 debts down going into 2024. 🎉 🥳 Hoping to put the extra £120 towards the smaller car loan. There may be a good deal on electric cars through our work soon which would also cover tyres/servicing etc and the payment would come out of DH's wage before tax. We are going to wait and see if it's any good and if we did it we could sell the newer car (with the big loan) and keep my car as it's almost paid off. 🤔 Only issue is my car is 10 years old and also needs the cam belt replaced next year. 🤔 We would need to see if it's worth it as don't want to be worse off. I have never liked the new car as it's bigger than I'm used to and an automatic. I'm an anxious driver at the best of times so changing car is really awful for me.

In bad money news the battery on my phone has started playing up and is depleting really quickly. I was looking at getting a new phone in the next 6 months to a year as my current phone is nearly 4 years old, so only had £400 saved towards one. We tend to buy phones outright and then use SIM only deals and obviously then keep the phones for 3-4 years. I have bought a new phone and am paying over 5 months at 0% interest, I have the first 3 months worth of payments so need to find another £320 to pay the last 2 installments in March & April. I will use some of my "pocket money" and will have to get going on the surveys, I can also sell my old phone although will likely only get around £70 for it. DH said if he sells anything he'll also give me money towards the new phone. At least we have a plan in place.

I went for my 25 min run on Thursday morning and found it really hard. I don't know if it was because I'd been ill a few days before or because I hadn't been able to run for a week. I spent most of the run after the first 5 mins arguing with myself so I didn't give up and go home! I think I'll try and go for my next run on Monday and hopefully it will be a bit easier this time.

Yesterday I went into the city on the train after dropping the kids off at school and nursery and did a bit of Christmas shopping. I got a few small things for my brother and sister, a shirt for DS and dress and tights for DD to wear to Christmas parties etc. I only really need to get chocolate for the kids, beer for a couple of gifts, money for my older nieces, some treat foods/tea/coffee for the outlaws and a couple of things for DH then that's the Christmas shopping done. I need to start wrapping this week as well and send a few Christmas cards.

I also finally stopped dithering and went and got 2 new piercings. All I can say is ouch it hurt but it wasn't unbearable. Will need to be very careful with the aftercare and cleaning and won't be able to go swimming for a couple of months which is a bit of a pain. I'm just impressed that I was brave enough to do it and wasn't sick, didn't faint, cry or scream. 😂  I'm such a wimp when it comes to pain. DH was waiting for me as he finished work earlier than expected so we picked up lunch from a Japanese cafe/supermarket and I got a lift home.

DD has been better with the number 2s this week at nursery and has only had 3 poo accidents, 2 of which were at home (lucky me). She always seems to use the potty for her dad but just poos herself for me!! But it's still progress so hopefully she's better again over the next week.

Hoping to get the stairs hoovered and bathrooms cleaned today, have put one washing away and hung up 2 so far. Will also get a leek and potato soup on for DH coming home from work as he was up at 3:30am this morning. 🥱 Kids woke me up about half 7 which isn't too bad really.

  • Fantastic news on clearing CC2, well done!

Everything else sounding good & well considered/though through, although you're braver than me getting the piercings  :D
