Have had a busy day trying to sort the house out today. Managed to tidy the utility room and give it a clean then hoovered the couches, stairs and the whole of the downstairs. Gave the bathrooms a wipe after that. Hung out 3 washings and most of it was dry so has been put away.

My biggest achievement though was going through the kids toys in the living room. I have emptied 3 storage boxes and have a bag of Duplo, wooden shapes, soft toys and a wooden garage to pass on. Nursery might take some of it. 🤔 I also have to pass on the stacking storage boxes as they are kids ones.

The living room still has quite a few toys but it’s much tidier now. Will deal with the kids bedrooms another day. 😫

Tomorrow I need to hoover upstairs and clean the floors downstairs plus the bathroom floors. If it’s dry I can get the doormats washed too.

Managed to fit in some yoga and weighed myself first thing this morning but have stayed the same. 😢 I was hoping to lose at least 1lb but holding on to the fact that I’ve lost 8 lbs since the end of May. Hopefully will see some weight loss next week.

Got a couple of good surveys as well this morning so have paid £20 off the smallest CC and am now under £800. 🙌

Thanks Beanie, I really need to get more focused on the debt, it would be great to end the year two debts down, only 2 more payments on the garage conversion loan left. 🎉 That will be an extra £150 pm which will ideally go towards the debt but our energy fix comes to an end next month so that DD will definitely go up. 😩

Been looking at holidays for next year with DH but it's so so expensive and we've come to the conclusion that we just can't afford the kind of holiday we'd like. 😢 DH is very down about it as we haven't been on holiday since 2016 and all he hears about at work is everyone else's holidays because he's in a well paid job. He was also brought up with going abroad on holiday every year as the norm unlike me, we only went abroad a few times when I was growing up - twice when I was very young and can't remember it at all and once when I was 16.

But looking at when/where we'd like to go (next April) it was going to cost around £4k including spending money and new passports etc. We just don't have that spare, we have £450 in our holiday savings. 🤷‍♀️ Even paying monthly we'd be looking at £300 pm just for the hotel & flights. 😱 It's just too much.

DH is very unhappy but agrees that it's too much for us to find with our energy fix ending so that bill will be going up plus our mortgage fixed deal ends next April as well and our mortgage payment will likely go up. 😩 Plus just the prices of everything else are ridiculous. I did suggest a UK holiday instead, ok it will still likely cost £1k upwards for a week but that's a lot more achievable than £4k but DH is now in what's the point mode and doesn't want to do anything. 🤦‍♀️

Have been struggling along trying to sort the house out but it's just never ending and even harder with the kids being at home. Just over 2 weeks until they're back at school and nursery and I can't wait. They both need to get back as they're just constantly fighting with each other and being absolute pains.

I have most of DS's uniform sorted, he tried on the school shoes I bought a month before school finished and they still fit so hopefully he won't grow out of them in 2 weeks. 🤞 I'm going to buy the size up anyway just in case. I won't need to get him another winter coat until later in the year as the one he has fits for now. Just need to get his PE kit sorted & one more jumper so he has one for every day apart from shoes. DD just needs some leggings and possibly another jumper for nursery as she gets filthy every day. 😂

Tell DH the sooner the credit cards are gone the sooner you can have a holiday.
Can’t believe it’s only 2 weeks til the schools go back. Hope my DS is getting his school bag ready!

That's true Beanie, it just feels like such a slog right now and it would be nice to have a holiday to look forward to. 😞 Yes your DS better have done his back to school shopping. 😂

Yesterday I got one washing done and one put away, hoovered downstairs plus the couches and then sanded and painted the insides of two doors in the kitchen that have been annoying me as they were so yellow. So a bit more glossing done which is good, when I open the doors it doesn't annoy me any more.

Today I have one washing on and one washing put away and have done the big cat litter clean. Hoping to hoover upstairs, wipe the bathrooms and clean the floors downstairs. Also going to make some coconut loaf, I need to make two (one for work) so will see if the kids want to help.

I had ordered a dress online which arrived yesterday, it was quite tight when I tried it on and it didn't look as nice in real life so I have sent it back for a refund. But because it was on sale the site deducts £2 for the return! So I'll lose £6 overall - £4 postage plus the £2 return fee, don't think I'll buy anything in the sale from there again. 😮

In better news I have lost another 2lbs so 10lbs since the end of May, the intermittent fasting is definitely helping as long as I stick to a minimum of 14 hours.

Back to work tomorrow for 2 late shifts and DH is going out with his friend for dinner so the kids are staying with my mum which they're looking forward to. I'll be the taxi driver home for DH as I'm late shift which saves a bit of money and we can have a lie in the next day. 🥳

Managed to get all the housework I wanted done yesterday and did some extra washing as the cat's bedding was dirty and then I needed to wash my cloths and tea towels.

Also made minestrone soup with some cheesy herb & garlic bread - it was a no yeast recipe so it's like a soda bread but very nice with the soup. Enough left over for me to take some soup and bread to work for my dinner tonight as well and another tub still in the fridge.

So a very productive day yesterday and will go to work for a wee rest today, 😂

  • Ooh you get so much done on your work days, make me feel lazy! The bread sounds delicious, would you mind sharing the recipe if you get the chance? X

Hi Dancing, I go through periods of being very productive then periods of being very lazy. 😂 I wish I could find a better balance!

This is the bread recipe, loads of other really nice recipes on her site as well. 🙂

Maybe a holiday is something to work towards once you’ve paid everything off. Prices of holidays for families have gone through the roof I’ve seen lots of comments to that effect on the holiday FB groups I’m on.
