So DD was sick on the bus on the nursery trip 😱 I gave her a travel sickness tablet beforehand because I suspected she might be but she was eating on the bus and then sick everywhere 5 mins before they arrived at the place.
My mum said she was fine afterwards and had a great time, especially with the horses and donkeys. One of the horses was about 10 times DD's size and leaning down to nuzzle her and she was cuddling it's nose and absolutely loving it, no fear at all. ❤️ Animals seem to take to DD which is lovely.
I got lots done around the house whilst they were away so that was good. Yesterday DH & I finished stripping paint from the bannister (finally) and did the first rough sand then applied knotting solution. We now have to fine sand then we can use undercoat and start getting it painted.
DH is cleaning the driveway today with his new pressure washer, it's amazing how dirty it gets.
Had to pick DS up about 20 minutes early from school yesterday as he had an upset stomach and pooed himself. When I arrived he was in the room next to the school office and had just had an accident all over the floor. 🤦♀️ So I had to clean him and the floor up, lovely. School gave us clean trousers to get home thankfully! He got straight into his pjs at home and had some medicine, he's still not right but much better now.
Then at bedtime last night DD poked me in the eye so hard that she scratched my eyeball. My eye is all swollen and bloodshot, it's really sore and feels as though there's something in my eye. 😢 DH went to the chemist to ask about antibiotic eye drops and they won't sell any until my eye is infected. 🤷♀️ So that's lovely.

No indeed Beanie, it wasn’t fun. Both the kids were very fractious yesterday as well, think they were overtired & not feeling great.Put them to bed early then after an hour of DD not going to sleep/moaning I had to lie down with her in my bed to calm down then back to her own bed. DS then woke up & wanted to sleep in our bed so left him to it whilst we had our dinner downstairs. Just transferred him back to his own bed when I went to bed.
My eye was sore all day yesterday and had to have a nap to rest it. It’s much better today though, hopefully it won’t get infected.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. In money news, we had some spare money left over from the last two pays - which we could actually see as we have moved all the DD’s over to a joint bills account. 😊
So managed to top up a few of our pots (cars, Christmas, holiday, EF & kids spending) as well as paying a bit extra off the smaller car loan & the CCs. We have also left a float in the joint account just in case.
We are in a much better position now and are staying out of the OD. The garage conversion loan will be paid off in September so that will be an extra £150 pm to throw at one of the other debts. Maybe we can end the year 2 debts down. 🤞
Have also started a new savings pot for the new carpet that will be needed for the stairs & bedrooms. We won’t be looking to replace it until we’ve finished painting up there and all we’ve done is the bathroom & ensuite so far so won’t be any time soon. Will also need to buy the paint!
Talked DH down from spending some of our “spare” money on a video doorbell & storage hub. He reluctantly agreed we didn’t actually need it and we paid the money off some of the debts instead. Sounds like life is as busy as ever!
Hope the children are feeling better today & that your eye is soon on the mend.
Well done on getting a handle on your finances, your last post is full of optimism. How amazing would it be to be 2 debts down at the end of the year? X2 -
Well done on talking your DH out of the unnecessary spending. Life with two young kids is never boring
Maybe split the spare money after September between debt and savings unless the interest rate on the debt is high?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Glad it’s sounding better on the money front. Sorry to hear about your kiddies not being well, hopefully they’ve bounced back as they do until the next time that is …I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks all, DD is still being violent so constantly dodging her attempts to nip, kick, hit & poke me in the eyes! No idea why she is hitting so much, it’s really sore though. 😑
All of the CC’s are on 0% until 2024, the biggest CC balance 0% runs out in March 2024 so it will need to be transferred as won’t be paid off by then. I’d like to pay the smallest CC balance off just to get rid of it. Trying to put my survey money towards it.The only interest bearing debts will be the car loans. We want to get rid of the smaller car loan asap as that car is now 10 years old, if things start going wrong we want to be in a better position to replace it. It also can’t be driven into the city centre from next month due to the ULEZ and the fact that it’s an older diesel.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have been keeping busy all week with work Sun/Mon/Tues then catching up with all the housework that piled up whilst I was working. Gave all the upstairs windows a clean except the spare room as I had too many seedlings on the windowsill and was too lazy to move them. 👀 I cleaned the inside parts of the window frames as well and they were all very dirty.
Got 4 washings done, dried and put away on Wed when it was windy and dry so I could hang them out and they were drying really quickly. 👍
I had to spray the climbing rose in the front garden with bug spray as it was absolutely hoaching with green fly. 🤢 Also discovered that a cat or fox has been using the front garden as a toilet as it was stinking 🤢 Need to get something to deter them as it's horrible.
The kids have been fighting non-stop and poor DS is covered in scratches, DD is still very angry and violent. It's very wearing and I hope she grows out of this phase soon. 😩
DS got his school report and it was very good, he is still quite slow with his letters and numbers but has made a lot of progress and his teacher said he has worked hard which is good. She also described him as a quiet, kind and sensitive boy which is nice to hear and she acknowledged his insane love of routine. 😂
Yesterday I got the undercoat done on the bannister, 2 coats took about 4 hours. I need to do the skirting board going up the other side of the stairs next, then hope to get the gloss applied in the next few days.

I’m sure DD will grow out of the violent stage soon. I remember when mine were toddlers we used to go to a mums and toddlers group and there was a little girl there who used to bite and scratch all the other kids. All you ever heard was her mum shouting Jessica stop that 😬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
