Thanks Beanie & SA, I enjoyed my peace and it was good to see my work friends as haven't seen them for months due to us all working job share now so never being at work at the same time.

Have got 2 washings out on the line again today as it's dry and sunny. I washed the blankets I keep in the living room for when we're on the couch. Might do the cat blankets tomorrow if I can get them hung out as well.

I have applied to switch one of my current accounts for the £200 offer, it seems to have gone through ok so just need to wait for the details/debit card so I can log into the online banking and transfer money. There was a point in the application where they gave me the details but I stupidly forgot to screenshot it. 🙄

DH is also looking to switch one of his accounts so potentially £400, I think I'll suggest saving half and paying half off one of the debts.

Have had a not too bad week, although feel like I haven't gotten much done. Have managed to get a washing hung out nearly every day this week as it has stayed dry so have hardly needed to use the heated airer. 😊  DH had to hang them out on the days I was working early shift.

DS picked up another bug (!), had a high temp and ended up in bed before 6pm on Wed night. He then woke up about 9pm and was sick all over his bed. 🤦‍♀️ Luckily he slept well after getting cleaned up and clean sheets. He was pretty much fine the next morning.

DD has avoided the bug so far, hope she doesn't come down with it. She woke up crying last night and was very irate that I hadn't went into her straight away. DH went in first to be told "Go away, I don't want you" so she was in bed with us for half an hour or so before asking to go back to her own bed. Hoping for a peaceful night tonight.

DH & I spent most of the day going over finances as it was payday today. We didn't go into the OD 🎉 and had £600 left over before being paid due to a very good wage for DH last pay. This was after the mortgage came out 2 days before we got paid again so we're very pleased. It means we had enough to pay for DH's car service & MOT and should have a bit left over to go towards debt.

DH has applied for a new 0% balance transfer for his no-longer-secret CC as the 0% on that runs out in June. He has been accepted for a no fee 0% BT for 19 months. Hopefully it will be paid off by then.

We will need to try and book a birthday party for DS soon, we have nearly half saved up towards it and this will need to be paid at booking. Fingers crossed we can get a suitable date.

My smaller CC is down to £1500 and my other BT will be below £3k within the next month. 👍

Thanks all, I keep thinking I've missed something to have such a decent amount left over. 😂 We have really been trying not to spend on random things and have been thinking a lot more about what we buy. Tracking the food spends and cutting down on takeaways has also helped a lot.

I do need to re-do the budget as there are areas that need higher savings amounts like the car savings for MOT/tax/servicing and eventually saving towards paying annually for insurance. This may need to wait until the debt has reduced quite a bit though.

Also need to up the kids spending account to add the swimming money, which I haven't done yet and the cats spending money for food and litter as prices keep rising. 🤨

I have re-done my car insurance, moved insurer although it wasn't any cheaper I got £42 cashback. The cashback money can go towards one of the debts at least.

Our council tax is going up by 6% so will need to factor that into a new budget as well, it will be over £300 pm now. 😩 Not having to pay council tax for the last 2 months has been a big help.

Really need to concentrate on not slipping back into the OD and silly spending. It's taking a lot of conscious effort for us both just now but hopefully we can re-train ourselves until it's more natural for us.

We have a list of things we want/need for the house (paint for upstairs/ a wardrobe for DS's room/stainless steel baking trays) but they will have to be saved for. Hoping I can divert the £50 currently going towards DS's party savings to wardrobe savings once the party has been paid for.

Tomorrow DS has a birthday party to go to in the afternoon so DH & I are hoping to take DD out for a bit as well. Not sure where yet, maybe just the park and then a cafe for a wee cake, we'll see. Hopefully can get a washing or two hung out as well.

Thanks SA, yes I think DH had a bit of a scare with the secret CC and has really been trying hard with our new budget. I think it's finally clicked with us that we can't just spend, spend, spend. It's only taken how many years. 🤦‍♀️

Have got a washing hung out and another in the machine just now, hoping to get at least one more out today as well as it's meant to rain tomorrow.

DS was sick again about 3am 😱 I don't know if it's a bug or over excitement about this party today as he was fine yesterday and no high temp like earlier in the week. The party isn't until later in the afternoon so we can see how DS is and decide if he can go, he'll be devastated if he can't go. 😞

I agree Beanie, it’s a killer, our house value is at the very start of band F so we pay the same rate as people with much bigger houses (& presumably incomes!).

DS went to his party yesterday but hardly ate all day. He woke up again at 3am crying with a sore stomach. 😞 I think he was maybe hungry but if it happens again tonight will need to phone the Drs tomorrow.

We took DD for a walk around town yesterday and she enjoyed looking in all the shops. She was very good in the cafe and had juice and a cake which she thoroughly enjoyed.

The cafe visit wasn’t cheap though, £15 for 2 coffees, 1 juice & 3 cakes. 😱 Luckily I had persuaded DH to have lunch at home as he originally wanted to have lunch in the cafe too. That would have taken the cost to over £30 at least.

Sold my last bundle of nappies on v!nted, only making £8 for 6 but better than nothing and at least they’ll be reused. I still have some nappy stuff to sell on but will wait until DD is toilet trained.

Have a pile of kids clothes & shoes to add to v!nted so will try to do that today.

Yesterday I got 4 washings done, 3 hung out & 1 on the heated airer overnight. Only 1 of the 3 washings hung out dried fully so the other 2 went on the heated airer as were half dry and the last washing was done later once the dry stuff was put away.

Another washing on atm, looks like rain though so might just be going on the heated airer.

I gave the upstairs bathroom sinks & toilets a quick clean yesterday, will try to do some hoovering upstairs today.

DH & I need to do some touching up/fixing of the wall painting in the living room & kitchen. Hoping to (finally) get that done on Tuesday.
