We took the kids to the park yesterday morning and they enjoyed running around, it cheered them up for a bit although DS was on volume mode LOUD and kept shouting when talking would have been fine. DD was in a bad mood because DS had woken her up in the morning. He burst in at about half 7 and got into bed with her then woke her up and she didn't appreciate it and scratched him so there was a lot of shouting & crying going on which was a lovely start to the day. 😩
DS is doing his strange thing of waking up at 3/4/5am again most days, then chatting loudly and playing. He says he can't get back to sleep but is then exhausted later in the day. Not sure what's waking him. 🤔
I gave the bathrooms a quick wipe whilst DH put up the curtain pole and curtains in the spare room. That's one more small job ticked off the list, the curtains are being used instead of lying in a box and will keep the room darker and warmer/cooler for any visitors staying over.
Hung another washing up and put the previous washing away. Tried to play a board game with the kids (a Christmas present) and DS had a strop within the first 3 mins because I wasn't quick enough setting it up and working out the rules. 🙄 DD then had a strop because she kept changing her mind over which character she wanted to play as then DS stormed off again because...reasons. 🤷♀️ DD then took herself off to bed for a nap! Basically DH & I ended up sitting playing the Bluey board game by ourselves. 😂
I have ordered a lightweight waterproof J0ules coat from am@zon as I need something lighter for the school run. It was £34.99 rather than £65.99 which is a good bargain, the only thing is they only had it in a size smaller than I would usually order. Apparently it runs big so if it's too tight I'll send it back and have another think. I had a £10 survey voucher so it will only cost £24.99 from my "allowance" if it fits.
DH is working early shift today, hoping he'll be back in time to take DS to his swimming lesson, otherwise I'll have to drop DD off with my mum and then take him.
Tomorrow we have DD's booster jags in the afternoon and I'm going out for my galentines dinner. At some point we need to fit in a food shop as running low on fresh food and I'm back at work on Wed/Thurs late shift.

Had a lovely dinner out with my friends, there were a few other tables of girls out too which was nice to see. 👍🏻
DD’s jags went well, although she was absolutely outraged she only cried for a few mins. I had bought some smarties for both kids so opening them cheered her up.
I sold 2 items on v!nted & on checking noticed the same person had bought them as 2 separate sales rather than as a bundle. I messaged to let the buyer know it would be cheaper for her to cancel the orders then re-buy the items as a bundle. I have bundle discounts on plus it would be one postage cost rather than two.
So the buyer did that and ended up buying an extra item as well so I’ve made a bit more money and decluttered more clothes. 🥳
I like to think that was my good karma coming back to me. 😊
The new raincoat fits well and is a good length so I’m going to keep it. 👍🏻Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.1 -

Thanks Beanie. 🙂
Had a grumpy DS this morning, at one point he told me he wanted to take care of himself & didn’t want grown ups anymore. 🤣
All I managed in the house before work was one washing put away and one hung up plus the nappy prewash.
DH has been nagging me to drive his car since he got it and I’ve been reluctant as it’s an automatic and much bigger than mine. I’m not a confident driver and it makes me very anxious to drive an unfamiliar car.
Anyway I did start driving it today to post some letters after dropping the kids off at school & nursery. Was driving for about 30 seconds & got to my second junction, my foot automatically tried to find the clutch and hit the brake leading to somewhat of an emergency stop.☹️
DH of course having kittens and lecturing me about “not doing that” I mean obviously I didn’t do it on purpose !!!!!!!So we had a lovely argument as he just doesn’t know when to shut his mouth and was making me more and more anxious. I ended up pulling over and getting out of the car, got my letters and walked to the postbox. I admit there was swearing, he really makes me angry sometimes.
So that was over 12 hours ago and we haven’t spoken since. 🫤 I’m not driving that car again anyway, he’s so patronising sometimes. Have had a so-so day, the kids were fine this morning until we got into the playground to wait for DS's door to open. DD started tantruming and scratching my hand and DS was a bit grouchy. DD then screamed going into nursery and had to be picked up and carried in crying. 😢
I went to the chiropractor and have been re-set, felt so much better afterwards but could feel how tight my hip is on the side where my SI joint is always sore. I really need to get back into daily yoga, even 20 mins is a big help.
Housework wise all I did during the day was put one washing away and hang up another two (as it was big nappy wash/cloths day). I also gave the downstairs toilet and sink a wipe and stuck bleach down all the toilets. I did also manage to do a few PA surveys whilst sitting on the couch having cat cuddles, they took turns lying on my knee and warming me up and I cashed out £10. Will go towards one of the debts, I had some odd pennies so paid them into the Christmas savings, up to £143 in there now. 😀
DH made the kids dinner so whilst they were eating I went upstairs and decluttered a basket and the medicine cabinet in the main bathroom. Found a surprising amount of stuff to throw away, mostly things like half used creams/gels, anbesol liquid etc that were well past their expiry dates.
I organised all the kids bath bombs, bubble baths, shampoo and conditioner into one basket so it's all together. On a mission to use up the bath bombs as they have 3 plus quite a few bottles of part used bubble bath. Also tidied DH's stuff and put a few bottles of body wash from gift sets in his shower as he'll forget about them and they won't be used otherwise.
I need to get rid of the kids bath toys as they're getting a bit manky, need to try and find some toys that don't get water into them for bath time. 🤔
I also found the old filters from my hoover downstairs so have chucked them out, think I kept them in case the new (compatible but not the same brand) filters didn't fit then forgot to throw the old ones out. The hose on my hoover has also split at the top. I have repaired with parcel tape for now but will need to see if I can buy a replacement hose.
Will head to bed soon as feeling quite tired and no doubt the kids will be up early as there's no school or nursery. 😩 Might take them to the library in the morning as they have books to return.
I have put the dishwasher on, set the washing machine on the timer for the morning and put the ingredients into the breadmaker for a loaf.
Hoping to go through my seeds next week and see what plants I'd like to grow this year. I've been very lazy so far and have sown nothing.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Oh forgot to mention that after washing the dishes from dinner and cleaning the hob & worktops I started cleaning the kids wee chairs they use to sit at the coffee table. The kids were very interested so I asked if they wanted to help and have a cloth each. They had great fun "helping" me to clean the seats and the coffee table. 🥰
Both then went up to bed no bother, DS got his pjs on himself and DD has started trying to dress and undress herself so managed to get her trousers mostly off before asking for help.
Tomorrow's housework plan is to hoover upstairs and clean the bathrooms then do the big litter tray clean and empty the kitchen bin and recycling bags.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. You’re getting them trained up young with the cleaning 😆
Boo to DH being patronising about the car. Most men seem to be critical of women driving I’ve noticed my DS is similar when DIL drives. Are you speaking again now?I also need to do more yoga as I’m not very flexible although I really don’t enjoy it. I also need to plan what I’m growing this year.Have a good weekend 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -
Oh I feel your pain on the patronising husband and driving 'his' car - when we went down to 1 car last year my DH insisted on taking me out for a lesson in his car as I'd never driven it (was quite happy with my own so had previously had no need). Now I'm quite a confident driver so while he expected me to have a quiet drive around town, I totally ignored him and headed to the local dual carriageway and put my foot down
- he soon got the message
Funnily enough when I got my company car with this new job and later got him insured on it, he got quite offended when I suggested taking him out in it while he got used to it!
Hope the children didn't get up too early today and are in a less grumpy state of mind x1 -
@sashybo is your hip sore in one side cos you always carry the children on the other? I used to get that a lot. They’re too big for me to carry much now luckily so think I’ve healed!
Boo to patronising husband! Hope you’re ok and have made up.
My kids love helping, it’s so cute isn’t it 🥰
Re bath toys, I hate them with a passion as they continually go mouldy. I got rid of all of ours. Our kids are allowed to take just normal plastic toys (animal or paw patrol figurines etc) into the bath as long as they only stay there a few days then get dried and returned to the playroom and swapped for something else so they aren’t there long enough to go mouldy.
I don’t recommend doing this with magnet tiles as some water gets inside them and it’s a nightmare 😂Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
