Thanks all, yes the men in my work are always very withering about “women drivers” there’s very much a societal belief that women are terrible drivers. 😐
I must say I think it’s pretty 50:50 with bad drivers! Also I’ve been on the receiving end of road rage by male drivers a lot more than female ones.
I think I’m an ok driver but it does make me nervous and I hate driving in areas I don’t know. I get so anxious that I feel sick & panicky.
Of course today I’ve scraped all the side of my car against a Royal Mail van. 😭🤦🏻♀️ At first I thought it was me as it happened when I was pulling over but re-thinking it now I think it was a joint effort and the postie pulled out as I pulled in. I stopped and got out of the car to see the van high tailing it which supports my theory that the van drove into me or was at least jointly liable.
DH has had a look and says the scratches will buff out, it’s not gone through the paint. 😮💨 Unfortunately there is also a small dent so I will probably have to pay to get that sorted but at least it’s not urgent.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. SA, DH came home yesterday and admitted he did the exact same thing as me several times when he first got that car! So yes we’re talking but I’m still not driving that car again. 😂
Dancing, the kids had a lie in which was lovely, DS didn’t come in to get me until 9am! They seem a bit happier today, I took them to the library and they enjoyed choosing books and taking them up to the lady to check them out. She also gave them stickers so they were happy.
Bluegreen, lifting the kids could definitely be adding to my hip pain. My lower back and pelvis have been a mess since having DS.Thanks for the info on bath toys, I was wondering if normal plastic toys would be ok. I want to get rid of the nasty mouldy ones. 🤢 Will have to do it when the kids are at school & nursery or there will be protests.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Housework today has been ok, I hoovered upstairs and cleaned the sinks and toilets. Hung up a washing and put another away plus the nappies from yesterday.
Emptied the kitchen bin, food bin and recycling bags into appropriate bins then did the big cat litter tray clean.
I also did a quick declutter of the drawers in the console table and my bedside table. I’m sure I’ll need to go through them again but it’s a start.
Planning on making chilli mac & cheese for dinner with potato wedges if we have enough potatoes.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
The chilli mac & cheese was really nice and easy to make, the kids weren’t too fond of it though and mostly ate the potato wedges. 🤷🏻♀️ We had enough leftover for 2 tubs to go in the freezer and 1 tub for my dinner at work tonight.
DD was crying at 6am this morning and when I went in she wanted her nappy changed and to come into bed with me and DH. DS was also awake so saw DD coming into our bed and started crying. So I had to settle DD with DH and then go in with DS for a while. DD went back to her own bed about 7am, DH was up for work at half 7 then DS came in with me for a bit.
I made 2 coconut loaf cakes this morning, one for home & one for work. Used up some of the desiccated coconut, I had 2 bags of it for some reason.
Put a washing away, hung another up and did the nappy prewash.
Picked my mum up & took her back to ours as she’s watching the kids whilst we’re both at work.I had to take the kids car seats out of my car to leave them at home for DH so he can drop my mum off later. I couldn’t get DD’s seat out of the isofix, one side would come out but not the other. I was swearing at & saying “just come out you beeping thing, you beeper” etc. Of course that’s when the neighbours from around the corner chose to walk past. 🤦🏻♀️😂 My mum was standing there looking mortified and like “Hi!” 🤣 whilst I was swearing like a navvy in the car.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Had a busy day yesterday in terms of running about getting the kids from school/nursery to my mum's then taking DS to swimming lessons then back to get DD from my mum then home to get them organised for bed. DS was exhausted and argumentative so that wasn't a good combination.
I didn't manage much housework apart from putting one washing away and hanging another one up then washing the towels and sticking them in the TD. I did another washing before bed and hung it up to dry overnight, it was still damp in the morning so put the heated airer on and it mostly dried within a few hours.
Today I have managed a lot more housework, I have stripped and remade the kids beds and tidied their rooms. DS's room was like an explosion in a lego factory and DD's was an explosion in a soft toy shop. Both much better now.
The big nappy wash has been hung up and the bed sheets are in the washing just now then will put another wash on as the heated airer will be free soon.
I also hoovered upstairs and tidied some of the clothes flung on the ottoman at the end of my bed. Had to put DH's t-shirts away as there was a teetering pile of clean ones that he has been collecting for a few weeks as he was too lazy to put them away. First time I've put them away in ages as I leave it to him to at least put his own tops away but they were annoying me.
I have chucked out the manky bath toys, cleaned the storage for them and added some plastic farm animals, dinosaurs and digger trucks which will hopefully survive ok. Fingers crossed the kids don't have a meltdown over the disappeared bath toys!
DS was crying at 3am this morning so I was in with him until 4am, will aim to get to bed at a decent time tonight as feeling tired. In better news DD was asking to go to the toilet at nursery yesterday and kept telling me that she was going to use the toilet at nursery today! Her teacher said her 2 particular friends have both started using the toilet recently so that's probably why she's interested. I have said if she asks to go then of course they can take her, we'll see what happens.
DH went to order a new water filter for the fridge and realised he had ordered a pack of 3 last time. After a bit of confusion over where he had put them 🙄 he found them and had 2 left so no need to spend on that. 😀 Have ordered a replacement hose for the hoover which was just under £10. 👍

😂 Willow, I'm just used to doing sooo much washing all week, every week that I don't really see it as doing much.
Today I stripped my bed and managed to hang the clean sheets out on the line as the sun was shining and it was a bit breezy. They dried which was good as it saved using the TD. I have also put one washing away and stuck DD's washing on when she got home. She has been insisting on wearing pants at nursery despite not actually using the toilet. 🤦♀️ So she has come home with several wet/dirty pairs of pants and leggings the last 2 days.
I hoovered and turned the cushions on the couches today, there was so much cat hair. 😱
Also got an email advising that my phone bill was going to increase by 86p a month from the end of March, currently pay £6 p/m sim only. Checked and I'm out of contract so DH & I found a deal which is 99p p/m for 6 months then £4.90 p/m after that! So quite a good saving. 🍻
Going food shopping tomorrow, expecting it to be quite high as we have run stocks lower than normal. I also have friends coming over for lunch on Friday so am making minestrone soup and toasties, so will need the ingredients for those. I have most of the soup ingredients already which is good. 👍 I'll make the soup tomorrow so there's less to do on the day and will maybe make a cake as well.
More teacher strikes next week, DH & I are both off on the Tuesday so we might take the kids swimming. DD hasn't been for a while and loves it.
DS has 2 school birthday parties coming up (back to back weekends!) so I need to buy presents soon for those.
DH's car is going in for service and MOT tomorrow, better not be anything wrong with it!!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.0 -
I'm having a peaceful afternoon as DH is away for the weekend and the kids are at my mum's for the day. I've hung DS's washing out on the line as it's sunny, yesterday I got a full washing out and dried on the line plus 2 jackets that are too small for DD and the nappy wash. Hoping to get most of my washings hung out this week as it's meant to stay dry. 🤞
I've had to order a new retractable washing line as the bottom bit that you wrap the line around has snapped. The same thing happened to the last one, they only seem to last a couple of years before the plastic gets too brittle.
Yesterday I made a chocolate fudge cake for my friends coming over as well and picked them up at lunchtime. We had minestrone soup, salad and cheese paninis then had some cake after I picked the kids up from school.
We had a few gins once the kids went to bed and they left about 10pm, I went straight to my bed as was exhausted. Luckily the kids slept really well.
DD let me put her hair in a ponytail for nursery as well yesterday, she has always refused before and would try to headbutt me etc if I tried. 😂 Managed to get her to agree to another one today. 😀 We have agreed with nursery to try pull-up nappies so they can take her to the toilet as she is still just wetting herself so not ready for normal pants yet.
I managed to sow some seeds the other day - some tomatoes, chillis and flowers as well. I ordered some pepper seeds and more tomato ones as the ones I've sown are quite old so might not do anything. I've never been lucky with growing peppers - the seeds germinate and the plants grow but nothing ever grows on them!
My cousin dropped off her daughter's outgrown clothes the other day - there was so much stuff! DD now has plenty of leggings and tops, pjs, trainers, boots, some summer clothes and jackets. I went through the stuff and DD's as well and had 2 bags to give to nursery as well for spare clothes as they're always looking for things for when the kids get muddy/wet etc. I now have a bag of stuff to put on v!nted as well as DD's outgrown jackets and wellies. If they don't sell they can go to charity.
