Yes I could see how the night out spending would go on a card....it's not fair though if you don't get the same amount to spend as you choose. At least you're trying to sort it out - imagine if the finances were left to him?

I think that what would bother me the most is that none of this money has been spent on family things for you all to enjoy or on outings for you and him. We all have those "soddit" moments when we spend on something that we probably shouldn't. He's living the "soddit" life. Sending you a hug because you're being so mature about it. I'm very short tempered and would not be as forgiving as you are being.

Thanks guys, I’m angry but just don’t have the energy to cause a scene. I’m so tired of it all.

I’m generally a fairly short tempered, fly off the handle type of person so it’s unusual that I haven’t done it this time. I suppose I’m just projecting “disappointed mum” vibes (always worse than being shouted at as a teenager) and hoping that will sink in a bit more with DH. He has been a bit hangdog since he told me about the secret CC.

He has also cancelled his email domain thingymibob and found something to replace it that is about £60 cheaper per year! Can only hope he really is going to try this new budget and not spend stupidly.

I know he is hoping his parents give him more money for his birthday and is relying on this for all the things he wants that I’ve told him we can’t afford. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Will need to keep a close eye on him if the money doesn’t materialise.

The kids had a great time at my great nephew’s party yesterday.

DS was exhausted as he had 2 parties in one day. 😂 He was sidling up to any older people at the family party and making friends. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 He just loves older people!

DD was telling me this morning that Tinkerbell was in her room and gave her a fright! 🤣 She has quite an imagination and is always chatting these days.

My twin nieces are coming to stay with us again next weekend. They have asked if we can make pizzas & brookies (apparently a mix of brownies & cookies) so will need to get the ingredients in for those.

Made a good start on the housework today, brushed, hoovered and turned the cushions on both couches and DH cleaned the downstairs floors. I also gave the sinks and toilets a wipe down. Got one washing done and hung up and another put away, plus the nappy pre wash.

Dropped a bag of kids clothes that haven't sold off at the clothes recycling collection point at the school and handed some nursery jumpers in as spares as they are too small for DD now. The jumpers were originally DS's so I've had my money's worth from them!

Also managed day 4 of the yoga challenge, felt a bit better today and it didn't hurt my hips as much! Not sure if I'll get any yoga done tomorrow as the kids are off school & nursery due to a teacher's strike.

Took DS to his swimming lesson after school after dropping DD at my mum's. Got stuck in traffic for half an hour over a very short distance (normally takes about 2 minutes!) as the road was being dug up and got to the pool with 5 mins to spare before DS's lesson started. Very stressful and DS was not happy, kept shouting from the back of the car "we're going to be late mummy! Why isn't it moving?!"

Hoping to get the kids out to the library tomorrow morning then they can just have a chill out day. I want to hoover the stairs and upstairs and try to tidy my room - there is clutter everywhere in there. 😩 Also need to clean the bathroom floors.

Forgot to mention that I used some of my survey vouchers to stock up on 5kg of red lentils and 500g of paprika. Good to have in, cheaper than buying the smaller packs and actually free as I used vouchers. 🎉  Still need to look into toilet roll prices after cancelling our subscribe & save as it was getting too expensive.

I also ordered 6 month's worth of the kids vitamins as they are on 3 for 2 and had an extra 10% off as well so made a good saving. The money can come from the kids spending account too so it's covered.

Forward planning for Easter I ordered personalised wooden egg boards - they have dips to hold boiled eggs and space for the toast - as they had 50% off, came to £19 including postage. The kids love having boiled eggs and thought we could get the boards, some small creme eggs/galaxy eggs and a bigger chocolate egg and that's the kids sorted fairly cheaply. Again this can come from kids spending.

DH ordered a replacement part for our handheld d*son vacuum - the clip had broken on the bottom which meant the dust/dirt kept falling out after we'd hoovered it up. 🤦‍♀️ Cost £8 for the replacement part which can come from the house pot. DH would previously have used this as an excuse to buy a newer version of the vacuum costing a good few hundred so this is progress.

That's just reminded me that I need to clean both vacuums out, including the filters.

Getting my v!nted money through from sales so will pay more off the smallest CC balance - the minimum monthly payment is £20 so every extra £20 paid off is one month less of having that balance hanging around.

Have had a not too bad day, no yoga but will do some tomorrow. Took the kids to the library which they enjoyed, they liked using the auto check out machines for the books.

DH hoovered upstairs and the stairs before going to work so two less jobs for me to do. I didn’t clean the bathroom floors but did declutter & tidy part of my bedroom.

Hoping to get the rest tidied tomorrow plus underneath the bed. I have stacks of birthday cards for the kids and don’t know what to do with them. Realistically I can’t keep every single card they’ve ever been given or will receive but feel bad binning them!

Also got one washing put away and another two hung up. Sewed the inside pocket of DS’s swimming bag as it had ripped right along both above and below the zip. It’s been like that for months now so finally did it and it only took about 20 mins. 🙊

Still no idea what to get DH for his birthday and still no money to spend on it either anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Another ok day today, day 5 of the yoga challenge done and really needed it.

DH actually got up before me this morning and got the kids organised for school & nursery. After dropping them off we went to Mr Al’s for a few things & spent £44! 😱 We did buy nappies, fabric conditioner, tinfoil, toilet roll and washing powder as well as a few things towards the pizzas we’re making with our nieces at the weekend.

Got the toilet roll as it was £6.99 for 24 rolls which isn’t bad. Will see how we like it, cheaper than our recent subscribe & save anyway. Will only buy from am@zon if it’s a lot cheaper and/or I have vouchers from surveys.

I cleared some stuff from under the bed and got rid of some more cards but still kept quite a few. The bedroom is looking tidier although far from perfect.

Forgot to mention I found 4 old pound coins and €60 in notes when tidying! DH cashed in the euros & got £44 which we’re going to use towards our milkman bills for the next 4 weeks. I’ll take the old pound coins into the bank and get them changed.

Nursery phoned as DD had a fall and has a big bump on the back of her head. They said she was fine, not crying and playing away but wanted me to come and get her. So I mistimed it and ended up wandering in the cold for over half an hour with an increasingly grumpy DD waiting for DS to get out of school. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I really like the Little Duck loo roll, it used to be £3.99 for 16 rolls but has gradually crept up to £6.29 🙁

The cash was a bonus find 😀

Could you just cook DH’s favourite meal for his birthday if you can’t afford to buy anything. Sounds like he’s been treating himself a fair bit so I don’t think there’s much he can say.

You always remind me I should do more yoga. I always think of you when I see the yoga with Adriene 🧘‍♀️
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

On birthday cards, we don’t keep many. I keep all the cards DH and I give each other and exchange with the kids - within our family we hand make them and write proper messages/letters, so DH & my cards especially are like little time capsules of our relationship. We don’t keep cards anyone else gives us. I don’t find shop bought cards with a short message in particularly sentimental and I would not have thanked my mum for keeping them for me personally 😅

BUT what I do, is I cut off the front and stick in a food bag in our crafting unit and the kids cut them up and use them to make their own cards and collages, so it helps us need less bought craft supplies. I sometimes use bits from leftover cards in my own card-making too! You can also make your own gift tags with cut up old cards.
