I’ve also done a quick add up of my survey earnings from July-December this year & totals are:
Vouchers £230
Cash £754
The cash was used to save up for bigger things we needed like a mattress for our bed, one for DD & a single bed for her too. Also put quite a bit of it into Christmas savings and spent a bit on myself. The vouchers went towards birthday gifts, things for the house and occasional ebooks for my kindle.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I think your DH is Mr SA’s long lost twin, he’s exactly the same when he gets a bee in his bonnet. Stay strong 💪I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

🤣 SA now that you mention it, there is a striking similarity. 🤣
Have stripped my bed now & sheets in the wash. Other washing now hanging on the heated airer. Will get my clean sheets on when I start running the kids bath.DD is having multiple meltdowns over nothing and generally being hard work today. DS has been pestering to play on his switch most of the day, finally gave in about 3pm. He’s now watching a Shaun the Sheep film instead.
Just stuck some frozen sausage rolls in the oven, some for the kids and some for DH & I later. DH is working until 11pm so should get home for the bells.
I’m getting the kids in a bath then to bed and then I’m going to enjoy some peace and maybe use up a sheet mask.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. For a wardrobe for a small room look for a gentlemans wardrobe in second hand shops. These are smaller than modern wardrobes. When my sister had the smallest bedroom my dad built her bedroom furniture by sawing a gentlemans wardrobe in half then putting it back together with a small chest of drawers in the middle. He put an extra piece of hardboard across the back and that had her mirror fixed to it.1

Just thinking about DH & his attitude to money, a lot of it is linked into his weird relationship with his parents. As far as I can tell the only thing they ever told him about money was how hard off they were and not to spend any money. Of course DH then went the exact opposite way and went spend happy. He still buys things to make himself feel better, I suppose most of us here do/did.
Now of course the outlaws have the narrative of "how bad DH is with money" and when money is gifted there is always a passive aggressive note about not spending it on "gadgets". Not helpful as it usually just sends DH into another spiral.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Dancing, thank you, I can only hope the his lightbulb is at least flickering, mine has been flickering for years now. 😳
Good idea Beanie, we actually have a wooden ikea kids table that might do. 🤔 Yes my outlaws are a special breed right enough. 🙄
Thanks Cranky I'll have a look, that sounds ideal.
Just chilling out on the couch with Old Cat & a blanket, used a sheet mask earlier as well. Enjoying the peace.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Happy New Year everyone, I hope it’s better in all respects. We are having a very lazy day, my mum was meant to be coming up for dinner but isn’t feeling well so we don’t even have to leave the house now.I made bruschetta for brunch for DH & I as we had fresh tomatoes & basil to use up. I wish I could keep a basil plant alive as it’s so handy & tasty. The kids just had a bit of the bread we used toasted with olive oil and rubbed with garlic as they had already had cereal/porridge.
DH is going to make mashed potato to go with the steak pie and we’ll have carrots as well. We have a frozen Apple strudel for dessert and will use up all the remainders of tubs of ice cream that are cluttering up the freezer to go with it.
We have already agreed on lunch for tomorrow (the last of the minestrone soup I made) & dinner will be teriyaki salmon noodles to use up salmon fillets. On Tuesday we are visiting friends around lunchtime & have a pizza to use up in the fridge for dinner.
I’m working Wed/Thurs late shift so should be able to take something from the cupboard or freezer for dinner at work & DH should be able to feed the kids something from there too.
Thinking of spaghetti bolognese for Friday (will make a double batch of bolognese & freeze for another day) & Saturday possibly enchiladas or quesadillas. I have some pork shoulder steaks in the freezer and can make pulled pork with them for a filling.
We’re getting an online shop delivered from Mr A on Wednesday as we found a £1 delivery slot. Spent roughly £64, DH immediately said well that’s £36 to spend on top up shopping (as we’re trying to spend £100 p/w). He always sees a limit as a target. 🤦🏻♀️ At least he’s trying I suppose.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
