Good idea Beanie, I've just done an online order. I don't actually live that far from the shop but it just saves me time and effort. 😀 The drawer organisers are really helpful to see what clothes the kids have and keep them tidy.

Yesterday I took the kids out for the full day to give DH some peace as it was his only day off and his next two days off I'm working again so he'll be watching the kids.

I went to my sister's house first to see my nieces as it was their birthday and gave them their presents. I also dropped off some outgrown baby vests and fitted cotbed sheets for my great-nephew, I checked with his mum first that she wanted/needed them. So a few things out of the house. DS & DD enjoyed seeing their big cousins and my great-nephew who was being looked after by my sister. I also left a birthday present for my oldest nephew as he's 20 today. 😭 I still think of him as a 3 year old!! 😂

Then we went to my mum's and she had my 2 younger nieces so the kids had a good time playing. DD went for her nap (the only other place in the world that she will sleep apart from at home!) and DS played in the garden with his cousins. There was a bit of arguing and bossing about on all sides but they got on pretty well most of the time.

Took the kids home about 4pm and DH had made a giant toad-in-the-hole for dinner so the kids were happy. I managed to mop the kitchen floor which was very, very dirty, so I need to do this at least once a week. 😳 I had already hung a washing up in the morning before taking the kids out.

Today I hoovered downstairs and chucked the indoor door mats in the washing as they were both very mucky. I have 4 so that I can have 2 in the wash and 2 out. I cleaned all the doors downstairs, a couple have crayon and other marks that will need a magic sponge to get off so I'll do that another day. The front hall also needs the walls cleaned as there are lots of scuff marks plus more of DD's artistic efforts.

Have cleaned the sinks and toilets in all 3 bathrooms and changed the rim blocks over on the 2 that needed it. I put away some washing and moved the bedside cabinet from our spare room (which will be DD's room from around Spring next year) into DS's room. That gives us a bit of extra space in there as we had an ikea poang chair balancing precariously on the spare bed. 😱 It's also the only room where there is space for my clothes horses & the new heated airer atm. Hoping to get the old cotbed mattress in there taken away with the rubble bags as well.

DH has some old brewing equipment to sell which is also taking up a lot of space in that room. Hoping he'll get round to that soon - they are big awkward sizes though so difficult to sell online, will probably have to be some kind of marketplace sale so someone can pick them up. He is also looking into selling the mountain bike he has had for 5 years and has only used 3 times. 👀 I think he's acknowledged that it's unlikely he'll get to use it again anytime soon so it's just taking up space.

I managed to reorganise my present cupboard so that I can fit the Christmas presents in there properly - I have finished pretty much all 4 of my nieces so have their stuff in gift bags ready to wrap. I have also separated the rest out so I know what I have for each person. I need to check the stocking filler stuff I have bought for DS & DD as I'm not sure what I have for that.

Also managed to get out and do a quick bit of weeding in the garden and use some old compost to top up some of my borders. I really need to get out into the front garden to tidy it up, top up the compost and plant some new daffodil bulbs but can't do it on my own with the kids as it's an open space and they'll make a run for it!

Thanks Beanie, DH says he’s going to look at getting the brewing stuff on this week, let’s hope he gets on with it!

He did sell his mountain bike & got £300 for it. 👍🏻 £200 paid off debts and the other £100 he’s keeping aside for now.

DH admitted he’d gotten overwhelmed by all the “stuff” he had to sort out but is just taking it one thing at a time now. He’s tidied up his computer/brewing room and has been working his way through the shed as well. He has managed to sell a few other bits & pieces online too. 👍🏻

I have been going through the kids clothes and have listed quite a few things on Vinted and sold some of them.

The things that have been on there for 2 months or more have been reduced and will be going into the charity bag at the end of the month if they still don’t sell.

I’ve sold things like bundles of muslin cloths, I wouldn’t have thought of it before but at least they’re going to be used. I got rid of 14 of them!

The spare room is still messy but is looking a bit better. We’ll get there in the end.

My MIL is coming to visit at the end of the week for a couple of days. She’s staying with us so we need to at least clear a path to the door. 😂

She will no doubt complain about my exercise bike taking up space again like she does every time she visits. 🙄 Both MIL & FIL were nipping at DH about it again recently!

I don’t know what their problem is (apart from them being control freaks) they only stay with us a couple of times a year.

Anyway that room is going to be DD’s next year so they won’t have to put up with my exercise bike anymore as there won’t be a spare room big enough for them to stay in. 🤭

Wouldn’t that be a shame if they had to stay in a hotel 😉

Indeed Beanie & yes SA what a shame. 👀😂

The last few times both outlaws visited they stayed at a hotel anyway, they don’t seem to like staying with us, I think they just don’t like small children very much. 🤷🏻‍♀️

MIL asked DH what day & time would be best to come up for her visit then ignored him completely and booked a cheaper flight. 🤨 We thought she was arriving on Thursday night which would have been helpful as DH is working late shift that night & I’m working early shift on Friday morning. She could have helped DH in the morning and watched DD whilst he dropped DS off at nursery.

Nooope she decided she would come up on Friday night instead. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Both PIL were also nearby recently doing some sort of rail tour but didn’t bother coming to see their grandchildren. I don’t understand them, they only see the kids a couple of times a year & like to go on about how much they miss them but then do things like that. 😒

I call that acting like they care and playing the part. My ex in laws do the same. It was 8 months once when she was a baby before they bothered to see her. Then comes the “isn’t she great, oh I miss her, she’s fab” yeah yeah. Show it in time rather than words.
Sorry, It really grates on me that I have a lovely 8 year old that pretty much gets ignored compared to my ex SIL’s kids despite the fact we lived nearer. This isn’t even since we’ve separated either!

Willow it’s really odd behaviour from grandparents isn’t it? Your ex in-laws are the ones missing out.

From what I can gather my PIL weren’t very natural parents and treated DH either as a mini-adult (although he wasn’t allowed his own opinions) or an inconvenience depending on what they wanted to do.

I think they just don’t really know what to do with children. My FIL likes to go at length about how wonderful my MIL is with children as well!! 😂 I don’t think they have interacted with babies or small children for at least 35 years. 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️
