Beanie, I’m not sure about strike pay but I think probably not. Funnily enough I had put in for annual leave on 2 of the strike days last week before knowing about it. I don’t know if I will get them as annual leave or not though. 🤔

I have quite a few days of annual leave to use and we’re being told we have to use them or lose them. When the government takes over the running of the railway they won’t pay the current company for those days. 😡 My annual leave has built up over 2 maternity leaves. I have used some of it but when I only work 2 days a week it’s harder to use up (still don’t want to lose it mind you!).

SA I hate when companies say that too, it’s basically a veiled threat. It’s sickening, especially when they can manage to give the big bosses bonuses & pay rises but tell the rest of us there’s “no money” for a pay rise!

The kids were really naughty this morning and painted all over the door to the downstairs toilet!!

I thought they were just playing with the dry brushes/rollers/sponges & pretending to paint on it. I think they were at first but then DS found the paint (my fault for not putting it away to be fair) and proceeded to open the bottles for his sister. 🤦🏻‍♀️

DD was very happily dipping her brush into the bottle and painting away then using the roller to spread it even more. 😱 DS was just rubbing it all over his hands then the door when I caught them.

It’s amazing the mess they can make in 5 minutes. I managed to clean the door with elbow grease spray but can’t get the red paint out of DD’s pinafore dress. 😫

The only other housework I’ve managed today is putting away a washing, hanging one up, hoovering downstairs, the big cat litter clean out and washing some dishes.

Hi all, have been rubbish at updating again. I have been trying my best to keep up with the housework and the house is looking a bit cleaner.

We have had a new patio laid and the side path redone and it looks so much better. We were only able to do it as the outlaws paid for it.

I have bought around half of the Christmas presents I need to get and am waiting on some survey vouchers to buy the last of DD's presents. I'm getting her a teepee tent as she loves DS's and will be moving into a bigger room next Spring so will have room for it.

I have re-organised some more kitchen cupboards and moved the dishwasher tablets into the larder cupboard in a lidded tub. I moved the diluting juice and kids cups/tumblers into the place where the dishwasher tablets were.

I also got some pot lid holder racks from Ikea to store my baking trays more tidily, the racks are extendable so can fit in different sized places and only cost £5 each so I'm quite pleased with them.

The other thing I'm very pleased with is my clean oven and oven door. I removed the glass in the oven door which was very, very dirty and couldn't get the staining off at all even scrubbing. I didn't want to use a brillo pad and scratch the glass.

So I had a search online and discovered that you can buy oven/hob scrapers to remove the baked on grease. I paid £4.99 for one, left some cleaner on the glass for 5 mins and then used the scraper and it came off straight away. It was very satisfying!

DH's friend is up here with his family on a wee holiday and they are staying nearby so they dropped in the other day with their dog. The dog is still a puppy so very excitable and he terrified Big Cat who ran and was chased. 😱 We put him upstairs away from the dog after that. Old Cat just gave the most terrific hisses and told the puppy off so he stayed well away from him. Old Cat just turned round and went back to his bed all pleased with himself. 😂

Oh also the strike dates are now off as the company has finally given a half decent pay offer without sneaky conditions attached for a year. It will all kick off again next year but at least we won't be losing pay now. 👍

Cats usually show dogs who’s boss.

Great news about the pay rise.

Thanks for the info on the oven scraper, this sounds like just what I need for my Ninja oven so will research.  I’m guilty of scrubbing away at things with Brillo pads, I managed to scrub the temperature numbers off my last oven and had to guess the temperature 😆

Thanks Beanie & SA, the puppy lives with a cat who he loves chasing but hasn’t learned that it leads to him getting smacked every time he catches her. 😂

DS had to stay off nursery at the end of last week as he was so tired and then developed a temperature. He had to have another Covid test which was traumatic for us all and was negative anyway. DD then came down with his bug so it was mostly a quiet weekend.

DS did go and stay with his gran, went into town on the bus and had cake in a cafe. Then had a shot of some of the wee rides in town due to the Halloween lights etc. My mum sent photos and he was loving it.😊

He was exhausted after all that though and had a screaming fit when we collected him later on.

Now DH & I both have the cold but no high temperature so assuming it’s a variation of what the kids are just getting over. Feeling quite rotten. 🙁

DS has his nursery group’s toy fox home this week and we have to take photos of him doing things then stick it in his (the fox’s) book that goes with him. 😂 We took him to see the Halloween lights & displays in town last night.

Feeling a bit better today, still stuffed up and tired but not as bad as yesterday.

I have managed to hoover the living room, utility room, kitchen & stairs, wash the inside door mats (back door one particularly muddy as used to wipe wellies etc coming in from the garden), clean the boot tray & radiator in the utility room and tidy it up a bit and put away two washings so far today. I also washed the insides of the patio doors and the kitchen window. The window cleaner should appear in the next week or so since it's a new month.

Just having a peaceful 2 hours whilst DD naps and then will have to collect DS at 3pm. I might try and get out in the garden with them for a while after nursery as it's a nice sunny day here.

Planning on some relaxing yoga and a nice hot shower once the kids are in bed. I have been slacking on my exercise big time as DH has been on annual leave and disturbed my routine! Hoping to do some walking tomorrow as am meeting friends for late lunch/early dinner so if the weather is still dry I can walk into town and get my exercise that way. It will save me a taxi fare too!

DH has another friend up from Englandshire but this one is staying with us. He has taken him out for the day today (and probably most of the night). It suits me as means I get some peace and tomorrow they are watching the kids. 😂

I was over at another friend's house last Friday, there were 3 of us and we just had a good chat and a cheeseboard. I was driving so didn't drink but it doesn't bother me anymore as I just end up with a terrible hangover and still need to get up and deal with the kids and house! My friend who has kids near in age to me gave me a big bag full of clothes for DD which was great, especially as there was a snowsuit and thinner puddle suit that should fit and I was thinking about buying one for DD. 😀 Her DD is about 8 months older than mine so it's good for both of us, she gets rid of outgrown clothes and I get new stuff for DD, most of it is hardly used/worn as kids have so much stuff now.

That’s fabulous about the clothes. Kids grow so fast so it makes sense all round. Kids + hangover = 👎 Been there, not a good combination.
