Thanks Beanie, I think it's the right decision.

I forgot to mention earlier that when I went to cancel my free 3 month kindle unlimited trial that I was offered another 3 months for £7.99. It's normally £7.99 for one month so I went for it as I have a few more books I'd like to read on there.

I have been keeping up with my exercise most days but have been a bit rubbish with food. I'm trying not to snack or eat too much sugar but am also not completely banning myself. I could do with being a bit stricter but have lost 9lbs since the end of June which is pretty good. Only another stone and a half to go to get to the weight I would like to be.

My mum is keeping the kids overnight so DH & I can have a rest, we've been working earlies and the kids haven't been sleeping great. They are always particularly unsettled when I work early shifts for some reason. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks Beanie & Willow, we had a relaxing Sunday morning and it was nice to be lazy!

I haven't been very productive this week, just some basic cleaning along with the never ending washings going in & out of the machine.

I made leek & potato soup at the start of the week and have made carrot & lentil soup today for lunches. DD was very enthusiastically feeding herself leek & potato soup the other day, you can imagine the mess. 😂

I also made scones today for the first time in ages as my mum was given a load of clotted cream for free yesterday. She gave me most of it & it has a use by date of the 11th so decided to make some scones to use some of it, don't know what to do with the rest though.

I managed to get a few more things onto vinted and have already sold an old hoodie of DS's so will get that sent tomorrow. I have also cashed in on OP so will hopefully get the £25 at the end of the month. Have also cashed in £10 on one of my receipt scanning apps and used that towards Christmas presents for my older nieces. Also waiting for £5 from another app which will be paid off my CC.

My next lot of am@zon vouchers will be saved towards Christmas as I want to get a decent children's camera for DS, I think he'd love it.

My mum & I took the kids to a supermarket cafe yesterday after collecting DS from nursery (where he had lost his hat 🤦‍♀️) as he has been asking to go to a cafe for the last week. 🤷‍♀️

DS thought it was great and really enjoyed himself, DD was challenging as she was tired as she refused to nap. Also the highchairs there didn't have trays and are shorter than the tables so are basically unusable! Luckily DD was tall enough to sit in a chair and reach the table to eat but she kept wanting to get down and run about. It was very stressful. 😩

Back to work tomorrow for 2 late shifts, my mum will be watching the kids as DH is also working late shift.

  • Clotted cream is good for everything! Try it with jam on toast for an alternative to scones, a good dollop on an apple pie and no mince pie or Christmas pudding is complete without any!! Clotted cream will freeze so any spare can be put in the freezer and saved until later. Never happens in our house because it gets demolished on arrival in the kitchen😂😋

Glad that DS enjoyed the cafe.
Maybe you or your mum could take him on his own as a wee treat  :)

Thanks honeysuckle, I had 4 of the pots of clotted cream leftover so stuck them in the freezer.

Yes Beanie I think taking DS to a cafe on his own is a good idea and he would love it. 😊

Have been at work then trying to sort the house out which is a never ending task. The problem is that nothing is ever properly cleaned so the house looks grubby as well as messy. 😩

I have decided to have a go at trying the organised mum method (TOMM) as have heard a few people mention it. I have been trying to do a bit every day but the house is such a state that I can't possibly do the level 1 jobs in 15 mins and the level 2's in 30 mins. I'm just doing what I can in the time I have and it does seem to be making a small difference. I'll keep going and we'll see.

Today I have cleaned DH's shower out properly and the bath as well and have mopped the floor in the main bathroom & ensuite (level 1). I have also hoovered the stairs and cleaned all the skirting boards and the bannister (level 2) as well as hoovering the living room, hanging a washing out and doing the usual dishes/cat litter clear out (level 1).

Yesterday I scrubbed the en-suite shower properly (level 1), stripped, washed & changed the sheets on my bed and hoovered upstairs before work (level 2).

I have also cleaned, tidied and re-organised underneath my kitchen sink, it was such a mess and I had a few duplicates as didn't know what was in there.

I want to get some drawer organisers for DD & DS's drawers to try and keep their clothes  a bit tidier and some more for my own drawers.

Have sold a few more small items of the kids outgrown clothes on vinted so need to send those tomorrow.

It’s hard trying to keep on top of housework when you’ve got 2 young children and a job. Just do what you can, don’t beat yourself up about it and remember you need some me time too.

Hi all, I've been MIA as DS was off nursery all of last week plus I was working 4 out of DH's 5 days off. Poor DS just can't shake this bug and cough, he's had it for at least 2 weeks now. 😔 He tested negative for Covid so that's one thing. He has perked up and started eating a lot better the last few days which is good. It's a local bank holiday on Monday so I'm hoping he'll be better for nursery on Tuesday.

Thanks SA, the housework is always going to be there, I'm just trying to get everything clean and then maybe I can get into a routine and stay on top of it.

The bathrooms are looking a lot better just by doing one thing every day, so cleaning all the sinks one day, then the showers the next etc. I've been doing the bigger cleans when I can, I cleaned the blinds in the living room the other day and the dust was horrendous. 👀

Today I've stripped my bed and have the sheets in the wash and have already hung up the nappy wash. We bought a heated airer from the lakeland outlet shop on eb@y (much cheaper than full price as it has some slight marks etc although it works fine) in an attempt to cut down on our tumble drier use.

I've also hoovered upstairs and did behind the bed, again horrendous amount of dirt. I cleaned all the doors upstairs and changed the bin bags in the bathroom bins.

I need to get more drawer organisers, I've done a few of DD's drawers and they are much tidier and it's so much easier to find things. I think I'll try to get DH to come home from work via ikea one day so he can pick me up a few packets of them.

Our new couches were meant to be delivered last week but it was pushed back to the end of October. DH got a phone call yesterday asking if we'd like to have them delivered within the next week instead. So they're now coming on Tuesday - I've got to drop DS off at nursery and am also meant to be going to my sister for more micro needling. We should find out a time slot tomorrow so hopefully I won't need to cancel.

DH messaged a company that takes away rubbish etc and the guy is going to take our old couch away the same day. It's beyond saving and is really just fit for the bin now. He also needs to take a look at the rubble bags we want him to take before he can give us a price for that part. The bags are full of earth and stones from us digging up our front garden to put the hedge in and it would take us 10 plus trips to get them to the tip!

We're also waiting on the council delivering us two new bins - our garden/food waste bin has split all down the side and the lid on our green bin is broken. The council have been as vague as ever, said we'll get new ones within 21 days (!) and the old broken ones will be collected at some point, maybe after being emptied, maybe not! 🙄

Wow, all happening in your neck of the woods.
Glad DS finally on the mind.
Good news on the new couches & to get rid of the rubbish.
