We’ve grown sweet peas this year and the smell is amazing, they remind me of my grandad too as do the smell of tomato plants. He and my grandma had a beautiful Hose and garden in a lovely little village in Bedfordshire. Happy days 😍I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Hi jan & SA.
Jan, our recycling bin is a full size bin, I'll need to look around the house for a plastic box or something with a lid but will also need to weigh it down with a brick to stop it flying away in the wind. We live at the top of a hill, so it's a bit breezy at the best of times.
SA, my grampa also used to grow tomatoes and I love the smell of them too. My sweet peas have been slow to flower this year but that's probably because I was slow to get them out of the greenhouse and into the ground. My climbing rose has been smelling lovely and has had a lot of blooms this year though. 😊
Of course DS refused to eat the pasta at lunchtime as well yesterday, I think it must be the look of it as he usually loves pasta. He's been quite resistant to trying things recently whereas he's always been really good at trying new things before. He screamed and refused to eat anything off his plate at dinner yesterday because DH put some curry sauce on it. 🤷♀️ I had to put his dinner on a clean plate before he would touch it again. 😂
I think it must be his age - 3 has definitely been worse than 2 so far! He is much more defiant recently. I can't wait until he starts nursery, I think it will give him more stimulation and hopefully tire him out a bit more! 😂
I've still been rubbish at getting anything apart from basic housework done and still haven't done any exercise either. 😳 I did manage to repot my verbena in the garden and some of the chillies but not all. DD needed her nap so I only got a few done. DS also started beheading my flowers so had to drag him inside as well.
I stripped the bed this morning and have the sheets in the wash, might need the duvet tonight rather than a sheet though. The nappies have been washed and are hanging up, I've washed some dishes, stuck the dishwasher on and wiped the kitchen worktops but that's about it.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Hi Sashybo- looking back I remember the frustration with food ( on both sides!) with children and food! I don`t think I always handled it well Now I think ok they wont starve and would avoid making it an issue. If you can get him to help with food preparation or to see when food is grown at home, that might just help. Also let him spoon his food onto his plate then he has some control? I always remember that when I was tired, there always seemed to be a stand off.....!3

Hi jan & beanie.
I usually try not to make a big deal if DS doesn't eat something, he'll eat if he's hungry kind of thing. But when I've made something nice especially for DS and he turns his nose up at it I do get annoyed. I think it's the wasted effort that's so frustrating!
Trying to get him to sit down and eat something that he's not into is just a waste of time and ends up with everyone crying. 😂 I know it's just his age and he's trying to exert some control over his life. He does generally try things if he sees DH & I eating it so I think I'll have to save new recipes for when we're all eating together.
We usually do one night eating dinner with the kids and the next one we have dinner together after the kids have gone to bed. Obviously depending on our shifts as well of course.
Today I've managed to hoover the living room, wash and hang up the nappies, clean the bathrooms and put a washing of cloths and tea towels on. I'm making baked potatoes for the kids tonight, hopefully DS will eat his!!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. There's no point making a big deal out of it, he's obviously cottoned on it bothers you. Good idea to save the new recipes for when you're all eating together. No consolation whatsoever but my DD was an extremely picky eater so much so I mentioned it to the GP who said she'd grow out of it - guess what she never did and is still a picky eater at 33. Having said that Mr SA only has a set amount of things he'll eat and won't try anything new so I guess she takes after him. Mr SA still refuses to try pasta and rice, he thinks they are the devil's work. DS was (and still is) a good eater and will eat anything you put in front of him apart from "flowers" - and by that he means broccoli and cauliflower he's never grown out of that.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Have been looking at our debts again and the total comes to a rather horrifying £21,850. 😱 £1940 is on 0% interest until next September but the rest are interest bearing loans.
DH moved the biggest car loan to get a lower interest rate and smaller monthly payment over the same term. Our smallest loan of (approx) £4360 has the highest interest rate now so that's the one we're going to try and overpay to shorten the term. It currently has 2 years to go and I paid £30 of survey money off it today.
So the outlaws are at it again with their strange controlling ways. They've offered DH £25k - which would be amazing and wipe our debts - but ONLY if he uses it to add a sun room to our house. 🤔 🤷♀️ They said it can't be used for anything else! I think they actually want to hold onto the money and pay the bills for the building rather than give DH the money!!
This would mean an extension to the back of the house and would give us a lot of extra room on the ground floor but we don't NEED it. We talked about doing at some point but agreed we would wait until some point in the future when the debts were paid off and we could save a bit. It's really not necessary to be honest.
DH has agreed though and is getting quotes etc and seems quite happy with the deal. But wonderful as the offer is, according to the architect DH spoke to that budget will be tight and we will probably need at least £5k more (which we don't have). So really this offer means we will end up in even more debt. 😭 I don't know what goes through DH's head sometimes but doubt I'll be able to talk him out of it.
I just feel a bit railroaded and the outlaws have taken over yet again. 😖 I don't know if DH has actually told them how much debt we're in and how paying it off would help a lot more than building a sun room but I doubt it. He's carried away with the idea of the sun room now. 🤷♀️ 🤦♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh no. That sounds awful.
He really needs to have a word with himself and with them as well.
If he has it done, it just gives them the idea they can control and manipulate.
My mum tried that once. Gave me money because I said I wanted to buy a chest freezer. The money Bea's for something like my birthday but she made a comment about using it for a freezer. I did the opposite and bought a chimenea!
I agree it would be more helpful to pay your debts.
I started my journey 25k in debt. All of which had interest. You'll get there xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x2 -
Remind your DH you are a united front and what you decide as a couple goes. It doesn`t matter whether they think a sun room is a great idea ..... it`s what you think that matters. No means no whether to toddlers or wrinklies ( like me!)2
