Oh and I forgot to add that I got unreasonably excited at seeing new episodes of Waffle the dog on CBeebies today. DS loves that programme and I've seen every episode a hundred times so I was (sadly) thrilled to see new episodes. 🤣

I even shouted on DH to tell him, we've had conversations before about the family on it and were trying to work out whose kid was whose etc. We spend too much time watching kids tv. 👀

Have had a better sleep the last two nights but am still feeling knackered. ☹️ Just typing the word knackered makes me smile a bit though as my mum used to give me into trouble for saying it because it wasn't polite. 🤷‍♀️ 😆 She also used to tell me that bloody was a swear word. 😂

DH used his pressure washer to clean our patio slabs and path yesterday afternoon. DS was running around in the garden whilst he was doing it. It looks much better now, today he's looking for his tool to burn the weeds away between the cracks, fingers crossed he finds it.

I went to my mum's house yesterday to give her a spare charging cable for her phone as she'd left hers at work and isn't back until next week. I put it through the letterbox then had a chat for about 45 mins with her standing at the door and me standing on the path the regulation distance apart. Luckily it was dry and I had a warm jacket on as it was chilly.

It was good to see her, she is missing the kids though. I couldn't take DS with me as he wouldn't understand and would just run straight into her house. Even driving there and not letting him out of the car would cause a meltdown. ☹️

I made leek and potato soup for lunch yesterday and cheese puffs to go with it. Surprisingly DS loved the soup and asked for more. 👍 I thought he would just eat the cheese puffs to be honest. 😀

I'll need to have a look through my seeds and see what I can sow next and also hunt online for compost. The house is a riot so I really need to try and clean and tidy a bit.

I managed 20 mins of bedtime yoga last night and do feel a bit better for it. Will try and do some more yoga later this afternoon.

Need to go over the finances and update my signature, DH applied for the 3 month mortgage holiday starting next month as he could still be furloughed at this point. We just don't know, so we're going to save two thirds of the monthly mortgage payment and if we don't need it it can then either be used to pay off debt or as a mortgage OP.

Hi Beanie & Hairy. 👋 It looks like knackered was considered quite an impolite word at one point. 😂

DH had to phone in to work sick today as he's done his back in and can't walk properly, he is hunched over and is struggling to bend or lift anything. Normally he would go to the chiropractor to get sorted but it's closed. ☹️ Hoping some rest and time will help it get back to normal. I know he's worried as his dad had a slipped disc and has had a lot of problems with his back over the years.

I had to go out to the supermarket today. 😩 It was so bizarre queuing up outside and then trying to stay away from everyone inside! It was actually really difficult as so many of the aisles were really narrow and people just kept standing and blocking them. 😡 There's no way I managed to keep 2m away from people when I was in there!

When I was leaving the queue was really long and practically round the building, so glad I went a bit earlier.

In good news I did manage to get a 40L bag of compost from Mr M's for £3, hopefully they will still have some when I need to go back next week. I don't want to go back until it's necessary. I also got some narcissi in small pots for 35p each so I bought four and will plant the bulbs in the garden in the autumn. There were also bunches of daffs reduced to 50p so I bought two to brighten up the house a bit. DS keeps stealing them out of the vase and running around waving them. 😱 🤣

Still no flour or pasta to be seen though. 🙄 So much for stock going back to normal.

I did manage to get pull ups for DS (two packs for £11 or £9 for one, 🤔 needless to say I bought two) and baby milk for DD so that was a relief. I have lots of disposables in for DD but am using half the amount I would have done due to using the cloth nappies during the day.

Struggling a bit with DS with the cloth nappies as he seems to flood them during the day. I think I need to use more absorbent inserts during the day as well as at night for him. I'll need to order more though as don't have many hemp ones. The charcoal/bamboo/hemp combo generally works overnight for him but not always and I do restrict the amount he drinks in the hour before bed too.

So both kids are 50/50 cloth nappies and disposables atm as I have disposables to use up for DD and the current cloth ones aren't always cutting it for DS right now. I'm happy with that for now as that means I'm binning 50% less nappies every day. I think I'll aim to go full time cloth with DD but I'll need to build up my nappy collection first - there are so many pretty prints that it's quite addictive buying them! 👀 😱 So I'll need to be strict with myself and not use it as an excuse to spend.

Hi Sashy, I must say I am captivated by all of these cloth nappy facts (not sarcasm). There are so many different types :astonished:. I don't know why more people don't try them. Much more cost effective and better for the environment, and one less thing to have to run to the shops for.

I hope your DH doesn't get furloughed. (I had to google that word, over here we call it being "stood down"). Well done on being proactive with the mortgage x

Hi Velvet. 👋 Yes the cloth nappy selection is massive these days, there are so many different types that it's a bit bewildering to begin with. I'm still experimenting as what works with DD doesn't necessarily work with DS.

I think that a lot of people either don't know much about modern cloth nappies or don't know where to start. I remember looking into them when DS was born and just feeling completely overwhelmed. I was so stressed out as he was my first baby and I was worried about everything and just didn't have the head space to fathom cloth nappies on top of all that.

It also feels a lot more expensive as you're spending £200-300 in one go rather than a packet of disposables every week for £3/4/5. In the long run it does work out cheaper but at first it feels very pricey.

Then there is the yuck factor as people don't want to deal with poo - to be honest I imagine most people get over that quickly as you spend a lot time dealing with unpleasant bodily functions with kids. 😂 My DH actually thinks dealing with the cat poo is more disgusting than the kids'. 🤣 I must admit putting DS's poo down the toilet is not my favourite thing. 🤢 But he (DS not DH!) is fascinated. 😂

It's quite dull here today, hoping it will stay dry so we can all get out into the garden and I can sow some seeds and prep the growing bags for the seed potatoes. Also want to get the bubble machine out for the kids as they will love it.

In weaning news, DD tried some mashed banana the other day and loved it. 😊 She also had a small bit of a strawberry flavoured wafer, DS used to eat them all the time. I think I'll try some cooked carrot sticks and stewed apple with her next. She has been enjoying her baby porridge for a few weeks now and loves watching us eating, think she's desperate to join in.

I'd never heard the word furloughed before either Velvetfreak.  It reminds me of farmers for some reason 🤣

Loving your nappy addiction Sashybo who knew they came in pretty patterns.

Hi SA, yes there's every pattern you could ever think of for cloth nappies. So far I have ones with sloths, dinosaurs, llamas, birds, jungle animals, polar bears, whales, yellow rubber ducks, foxes and clouds. 😂 They are super cute on both my tall skinny DS & wee chunky DD. 😍 I am currently looking at one with cockatoos and another with fire engines, so far I have resisted. 👀 🤔

Well I was very lazy today and got nothing done apart from a couple of washings and keeping the kids fed and changed. DH is still suffering with his back but has been helping with the cooking. We moved an adjustable office type chair into the kitchen for him to rest on as he could make it tall enough to sit on and still reach the hob.

Going to get out into the garden tomorrow and hopefully can get my gardening jobs done plus hang a washing out. I might need to go out sooner than planned to a supermarket to try to get ibuprofen for DH as we are running low. It was difficult to get before the lockdown so who knows if I'll be able to get any.

One of DH's aunts is in hospital down south with the covid 19 and pneumonia. She's in her 70s and his dad is very worried about her. All we can do is hope she pulls through. ☹️

Fingers crossed she pulls through 🙏

I would’ve been the same with my two and the fancy nappies. I used to love buying them nice clothes. When they were little it was all Mothercare and Adams, nowhere cheap.

Annoying for you re ibruprofen, I thought folks were told not to take it for C-19 unless you take it anyway?
